  1. But do they not header the ball in Sweden ?

He isn't brave, you can't teach that.

According to the Swedish national boss, it's quite the opposite. Before signing for Rangers all the reports stated he was a big, powerful, impossing centre back. I simply believe that PLG didn't prepare him properly for the SPL which in turn destroyed the lads confidence.

He's still young and having someone like Weir playing alongside him can only benefit him and Rangers in the long term.

  2. accordin to Radio Clyde we have said to Hearts final offer of 800k for Hartley take it or leave it  partay

I can see Celtic going in with a higher bid that that.

BBC is reporting that we'll be making an improved bid tomorrow. Have to wait and see. Anyone else from the Scotland midfield we haven't been linked with yet ;-)

  3. seriously??? That would have to be a bid of ?2.5m or more i reckon if its true. Didnt think we had that money available for one player

Well judging by the bids that have been turned down, the deal would have to be in the region of ?5 million for both players if the stories are true.

Maybe it explains the token offers for Hartley and Gow.

  4. How do you know we haven't?

Walter Smith has a habit of pulling the proverbial rabbit out the hat when it comes to players signing out of the blue. Then again he may be considering promoting one of the youth players. It worked for Moyes

Because there would have been something said about it if we did. We wouldn't hide the fact that a player had signed. And plus the fact that we haven't made any serious bid for any player yet. You could be right about the youth players. They deserve their chance but i still feel that our squad is too small to be letting players go without first having secured replacements.

The agreements may have been made with just the registration to be done. Lets face it until a player is paraded we have no clue who has signed. It is not outwith the realms of possibility that bids for a couple of players have been accepted and contract negotiation is ongoing. They are under no contract to tell the supporters if that is the case.

  5. Buffel is neither a striker or a midfielder so no great loss. He simply doesn't fit anywhere in a standard 4-4-2.

Don't agree. He is a player who can change things from the bench and at the very least he is good cover. The way our squad is now, all it takes is one injury in midfeild and we are really down to the bare bones. That is my problem with letting him go before we have brought someone in. Now we are walking a tightrope hoping that we get the players we want. That simply shouldn't be happening imo.

Spot on BITC! We should have our players signed before letting Buffel and Clement go. They should have been told OK BUT only if/when we get replacements.

  6. Darren Fletcher from Man Utd till the end of the season.

    You heard it here first.

Probably hear it here last too ;)

250 ml of Bombay Blue and a conversation with a friend who is normally uncannily accurate with his information. I have been informed that <allegedly> Ferguson approached Rangers and not the other way round and that is as much as I know <allegedly>.

Nudge Nudge, Wink Wink, say no more.

All probably bollocks but we live in hope.

  7. Buffel will be a great player in a team that is willing to play him off a main striker or in behind the front 2. He will never fit into Rangers 4-4-2 formation so on balance I think we're better to cash in on him and find someone that will.

In the right team he will be a great player but Rangers cannot change their entire game to suit one player.

    Here Here.

  8. At this rate with all the crappy bids we will have such a weak squad. Clement gone, Buffel gone -at least he was cover. What now?

I really despair and all these other fans who are saying we should not spend wtf are they thinking about?

Dont spend 100K or 150k now but lose 5 million+ from CL money later. Farcical.

Why would we let both Clement and Buffel go if we have no cover for them?

    Makes NO sense to me.

Clement is replaced by Hemdani, cover is provided by Rae and Murray.

Buffel doesn't need replacing as he doesn't actually play in the starting 11 and rarely comes on as sub unless Burke and Sionko are both injured.

    It's hardly catastrophic imo.

  9. I think we have been a little premature in letting Buffel go. We have not yet brought in a midfielder or striker in yet but we have already let Clement go and now Buffel.

Buffel is neither a striker or a midfielder so no great loss. He simply doesn't fit anywhere in a standard 4-4-2.

  10. As someone once famously said............"you win NOTHING with kids".

He was right, wasn't he :unsure:

In all fairness, the batch of kids Hansen was referring to were slightly better than the present incumbents of Murray Park.

To be fair, that United side also had Schmeichel, Bruce, Pallister, Cantona and Hughes running down the spine of the team. Oh there is also the fact that Hansen is a buffoon.

  11. I dont think that anybody was attacking the manager but it is fair to point out that the players we seem to be signing are at the end of the road, if not now they will be at the end of their contract-so no sell on money.

It would be blinkered to blindly believe that Walter will deliver us from this current pit, the kind of blind faith many (self included) put in the recently departed Le Goon

More over I dont see us building a sucessful team on the kind of budget that seems to be in place, and dont give it all that crap about better players and more money in the summer. If Walter cant bid peanuts for Gow who it would seem he wants, then dont expect Murray to openly fund big money in the Summer

Sorry but I disagree. Falkirk asking for Half a Million for Gow is taking the piss imo. He's a youngster with some potential and is by no means the finished product. He also only has 6 months left on his contract and can leave for sod all if we wait. I personally think 150k was generous if the rumours about the amount offered is true. If Falkirk won't sell him for a realistic fee then sign him on a pre contract and concentrate on getting someone else in.

  12. I would rather have buffel than sionko or sebo even if he is inconsistant he at least does have some talent. ?1.4m is taking the piss as well when we paid over ?2m for him. I cant understand why we continue to sell players for peanuts when we dont have huge amounts to spend to replace them. zurab, ricksen, rodriguez and probably clement went for less than we should have got for them. We could have had an extra ?2m+ for transfers if we had got decent prices for them. If we are going to sell buffel i would wait untill the summer as well.

    Two words.

    Damage limitation.

If they continue to perform at the level they have been (clement excluded) their value may drop even further. There is also the issue of paying them high salaries to sit warming the bench.

  13. Houlier infact has gone on to win consecutive titles with Lyon.

Aye, thats hardly the most difficult thing in the world though, is it PB?

    :lol::P

My point, is that being sacked, leaving by mutual consent, etc doesn't make you a bad manager/coach. With the possible exception of John Barnes and Lou Macari. :D

  14. what a terrible decision, Buffel is a great player ..

    poor poor poor

Not much we can do m8.

I'm as upset by this as I was by PLG getting rid of Soti.

And look how that one turned out.

But, I don't blame Buffel one bit - most of the fans seem to hate him, and he's barely playing a bit-part in the side nowadays.

    Deserves better.

Personally, I don't have any problems with him going. He showed flashes of what he is capable of over the last couple of seasons and that for me is the guys problem. He is mia in the majority of games he plays. If he played well for even 70% of the games he has appeared in I would probably be sorry to lose him but he is a luxury we can ill afford. He's a bit like De Boer but without the consistency, and snazzy hairdo.

    de Boer was consistent??

Christ, I know time is a great healer, but the amount of bears who seem to forget the number of bloody awful performances de Boer put in in favour of gushing over the few good ones truly amuses me.

I didn't say he was consistently brilliant, but when he wasn't he was still better than average. Buffel actually reminds me of lovenkrands in some respects only without the pace and goal threat.

  15. not one person has given me a answer if he done a good job why did they get rid of him.

There are many reasons for Managers departing clubs. They probably felt they needed a new manager as Walter was pretty much pooped out and some fresh blood might get a reaction from the players until the club stabilised.

Why did Liverpool get rid of Houllier? Why did Celtic get rid of Burns? Neither did a particularly bad job. Houlier infact has gone on to win consecutive titles with Lyon.

Considering the situation at the club, that is an even better record than I had thought.

They got rid of him as unsurprisingly Walter had lost the will to go on. I doubt Sir Alex Ferguson could have steadied the Everton ship at that time, we were in real danger for a couple of seasons, of becoming the new Man City. Yes it was that bad.
