McCoist doomed to be Rangers manager for all eternity

AFTER unsuccessfully resigning, Ally McCoist has admitted that he has no idea how he can stop being Rangers manager.

An emotional McCoist handed in his notice only to be informed by grinning colleagues that he’d received a pay rise and a better parking space.

He said: “It was always going to be a very tough decision to quit the club I love, but I presumed it would be tough emotionally not logistically.

“I’ve tried being Rangers manager and I’ve tried not being Rangers manager and the two things are essentially the same.

“Even death will be no escape, they will find a way to trap my spirit in a jar.”

  2. Makes me wonder why these managers can't have a probation period like most jobs?

You start the job, you're assessed after 3 to 6 months and if you're not up to it, you get a month's salary and move on.

Paying anyone a year's salary for failure to get him out is just daft.

I agree, in any other line of work you'd be sacked.

From Davies point of view, if we offer him a 6 month deal it doesn't really show him that we want him as manager! Albeit he's not in work but if we really want him as manager then offering him a 6 month contract isn't the way of showing it.

  3. Maybe the fact he's sitting on his arse doing nothing and would love the chance to turn things around and always be remembered as the guy who pulled us over the last hurdle.

Only to be replaced in the summer?

There is no chance Davies will accept a 6 month contract! All these 'Rangers' men who we expect to bend over backwards for the club because of their 'love for Rangers' have families to feed and lives to live the same as you and me and as McCoist is proving right now all of that comes before the club. If anyone thinks Davies will sign a 6 month contract they are kidding themselves on, and if he does i'll eat someones hat!

  4. Davies is a far, far better option than McCoist. He is also a better option than Butcher and McCall. I can't think of anyone we could get for free who would be a better option.

And for those saying we should have Davies until the end of the season and continue to invite applicants and bring in someone long term after the season.......What makes you thinmk Davies would accept a 6 month contract now only to be dumped in May?

  5. Where is all this Kenny Miller pish coming from? McCoist had years learning off Walter Smith and can't manage, what makes anyone think Kenny Miller can guide this team back to the SPFL in what time is left this season???

If and when McCoist does indeed go we need someone with a proven track record. Some one who can get the best from the players and is tactically aware.....that is not Kenny Miller!!

  6. 'He wanted to take the Club back to the top League and he was on that way'

DJ you're full of baloney. Why is he sitting talking about the Rangers fans?

Just as good as when he never stands up for us on his Radio programme.

I can't listen to Derek Johnstone, it pains me that he is an ex Rangers player and gets to spout his crap over the radio. He offers no insight to football, Rangers or anything else for that matter. He talks mince!

  7. Firstly, I don't think McCoist is the man for the job, we need someone, anyone who has a proven track record that can manage a highly paid group of players back to the SPFL, players who are more than capable of it!

Back to the question: 'What would cause McCoist to walk away?'

Why should McCoist walk away? He was offered the job, he was offered the salary he is on, it isn't his fault that he is in the hot seat being paid the wage that he is. If Rangers FC deem McCoist to be not good enough it is up to them to rectify the situation! How many of us would walk away from a job as well paid as his without another to follow it up? How many people in a job across Scotland who aren't doing a good job and know fine well they aren't would walk into their boss and say "The work I'm doing isn't really worth what you are paying me so I quit!"

In any other job you would be sacked before it got to the point you had to quit yourself!

  8. Ally trains these 'jokers' every day of the week. Most of these 'jokers' were good enough for us or for another team in the SPL but now, under Ally's stewardship are not!

Yes the players are underacheiving but they are carrying out the tactics that McCoist has set over the last 3 three and a half seasons!
