BREAKING NEWS:
McCoist lands two year extension and £5k/week raise.
-
Meeting this afternoon apparently.
-
Good topic I made one of my most popular so far
Calm yourself down!
-
Davie Dodds. What a handsome fucker....
The only thing more shocking than Davie Dodds face was the fact we let Chris Woods hit a penalty! Embarrassing and disrespectful to our opponents!
-
Getting in the team at that time was a feat.
Fair point!
-
Haha, Aye maybe.
He was at Motherwell ( according to Wiki ) from 99-01... No excuses, I really should remember him
He didn't do a huge amount at Rangers worth remembering!
-
Well, I guess we could offer a rolling one year contract but negotiate a lower severance package?
Don't mention one year rolling contracts!
-
Fucks John Spencer?
I've googled him and all I get is the snooker player and actor
Edit - Found him. looks like a shit version of Dominic Purcell fae prison break
Haha, you're obviously younger than most on here if you don't know who John Spencer is!
-
Thats what my second sentance was saying! I was taking the mick.
Ah! Sometimes sarcasm is hard to pick up on in print!

Makes me wonder why these managers can't have a probation period like most jobs?
You start the job, you're assessed after 3 to 6 months and if you're not up to it, you get a month's salary and move on.
Paying anyone a year's salary for failure to get him out is just daft.
I agree, in any other line of work you'd be sacked.
From Davies point of view, if we offer him a 6 month deal it doesn't really show him that we want him as manager! Albeit he's not in work but if we really want him as manager then offering him a 6 month contract isn't the way of showing it.
-
You heard it here first.
I'd be reasonably pleased with that!
-
Maybe the fact he's sitting on his arse doing nothing and would love the chance to turn things around and always be remembered as the guy who pulled us over the last hurdle.
Only to be replaced in the summer?
There is no chance Davies will accept a 6 month contract! All these 'Rangers' men who we expect to bend over backwards for the club because of their 'love for Rangers' have families to feed and lives to live the same as you and me and as McCoist is proving right now all of that comes before the club. If anyone thinks Davies will sign a 6 month contract they are kidding themselves on, and if he does i'll eat someones hat!
-
I would be happy to take Daives on a temporary basis until the end of the season and then review where we are as a club and make a long term decision on the whole football management structure then.
What makes you think Davies would take a 6 month contract?
-
But I think it's fair to say there are more dullards on here than your average Rangers forum.
Quite an opinion to have after 26 posts! You must do alot of reading and not alot of talking, maybe you should go back to that!
-
Davies is a far, far better option than McCoist. He is also a better option than Butcher and McCall. I can't think of anyone we could get for free who would be a better option.
And for those saying we should have Davies until the end of the season and continue to invite applicants and bring in someone long term after the season.......What makes you thinmk Davies would accept a 6 month contract now only to be dumped in May?

Worked a couple of years ago for Ferguson at Man Utd.
Yea, doesn't really equate now does it! Lol
Completely different circumstances! Ferguson was retiring after 25 hugely successful years. You can't compare the two.
-
He has to go! We can't have someone who has handed their notice in running the club, we just can't!
-
You are quite correct if you want to count one game with le guens under performing team ,
Yeah that's the one, like I said 100%!
-
It's doing my tits in.
A bit of passion doesn't mean you would be good at the job, plus I don't want an ex celt*c player managing my club.
I'm passionate as fuck and I'd do it for comparable pennies! Where do I sign?
-
I would think Ian Durrant would take over on a caretaker basis until Stuart McCall gets offered it.
I love Durrant but I thinki I'm right in saying he has a 100% loss rate as manager!

Where is all this Kenny Miller pish coming from? McCoist had years learning off Walter Smith and can't manage, what makes anyone think Kenny Miller can guide this team back to the SPFL in what time is left this season???
If and when McCoist does indeed go we need someone with a proven track record. Some one who can get the best from the players and is tactically aware.....that is not Kenny Miller!!

'He wanted to take the Club back to the top League and he was on that way'
DJ you're full of baloney. Why is he sitting talking about the Rangers fans?
Just as good as when he never stands up for us on his Radio programme.
I can't listen to Derek Johnstone, it pains me that he is an ex Rangers player and gets to spout his crap over the radio. He offers no insight to football, Rangers or anything else for that matter. He talks mince!
-
Firstly, I don't think McCoist is the man for the job, we need someone, anyone who has a proven track record that can manage a highly paid group of players back to the SPFL, players who are more than capable of it!
Back to the question: 'What would cause McCoist to walk away?'
Why should McCoist walk away? He was offered the job, he was offered the salary he is on, it isn't his fault that he is in the hot seat being paid the wage that he is. If Rangers FC deem McCoist to be not good enough it is up to them to rectify the situation! How many of us would walk away from a job as well paid as his without another to follow it up? How many people in a job across Scotland who aren't doing a good job and know fine well they aren't would walk into their boss and say "The work I'm doing isn't really worth what you are paying me so I quit!"
In any other job you would be sacked before it got to the point you had to quit yourself!

Ally trains these 'jokers' every day of the week. Most of these 'jokers' were good enough for us or for another team in the SPL but now, under Ally's stewardship are not!
Yes the players are underacheiving but they are carrying out the tactics that McCoist has set over the last 3 three and a half seasons!
Gone by January. A prediction.

McCoist doomed to be Rangers manager for all eternity
18-12-14
AFTER unsuccessfully resigning, Ally McCoist has admitted that he has no idea how he can stop being Rangers manager.
An emotional McCoist handed in his notice only to be informed by grinning colleagues that he’d received a pay rise and a better parking space.
He said: “It was always going to be a very tough decision to quit the club I love, but I presumed it would be tough emotionally not logistically.
“I’ve tried being Rangers manager and I’ve tried not being Rangers manager and the two things are essentially the same.
“Even death will be no escape, they will find a way to trap my spirit in a jar.”
