  1. Now I am not being downbeat because it does look as if we may be turning the corner, but in any other season would 3 draws and 3 defeats by the first week in November be good.

However i am still optimistic, actually mostly enjoying the roller coaster ride so far, and looking forward to our future success :21: ,

That's a very bold statement to make.

  2. I believe that most clubs in Spain, and on the continent in general, have 2 sessions pr day. Its divided into Physical and Technical training. If it can be done there, then why not here? I dont think you can argue, that the Spanish players have, in general, a better technique than most British players. This is no coincidence. You practice, and get better.

If I can remember correctly; PLG tried to introduce this, but there was a disgruntled clique that put a spanner in the works, and we know the rest.

Why do we think that 2 sessions a day is not for us and why do we think we know better? I'd say the evidence is out there to see... it DOES work. Its time we started learning from others!

    What he said!

  3. I'd like to see Rangers publish what training schedules they operate, why they operate the way they do, and what alternatives they are looking at. We are a Div 3 club with a new team that clearly needs to gel more. And I don't accept simply the passing of time and more games as the gel factor. The team has struggled so far in away games and it is clear that everyone would like to see vastly improved performances. The scary stuff last Saturday when the entire RHS was empty bar Faure was surreal and is stuff that should be ironed out on training pitches. Defending set pieces has been patchy and I think we should be imposing a much bigger threat when we win corners and free kicks in attacking areas. Point is bears have backed the club big time and Ally and the coaching staff can and should do more to explain to us what they are doing on the training pitch to up the quality and effectiveness of our game..

I'd also like to see a freshening of the coaching staff. I'm not calling for anyone to go, just looking for fresh blood to be introduced alongside, and preferably recruited from teams who have a strong track record of developing excellent players. Now that might take a few £s but since we have to wait a very long time for transfer action we could at least be doing the very level best we can to turn the players we have into better players with the rights skills, mentality, strength, and fitness to deal with Divs 3, 2 and 1.

Completely agree. We should know more.

  4. I honestly think we would know about it Peter. We have all sorts of access to players these, social media, interviews, media, press, we know so much about footballers these days. If young Barrie McKay was staying behind for an hour or two with 50-100 balls, smashing free kicks into the net working on his dead ball technique and shooting ability i reckon he and the club would love to tell the fans that. I would be so proud of him and would respect him so much more for it, but when i hear he is off from training not long after 11 to go for a haircut it makes me question his ambition to get better, albeit that is one day but there are other examples. Fans know what time players are in training, the club do not try and hide players nor do i think they recommend or tell players to stay behind, i know if someone like Ian Durrant or Ally McCoist asked me to work on something they thought i was weak in, i would be working every minute possible to make sure they see an improvement in that particular area. We know these players, we watch them week in week out, there has been no marked improvement in any of them, in my mind. When i watched the video of Nakamura at Celtics training ground himself, with the dummy wall set up, loads of balls and his translator in goal, i was sick, sick but envious, almost jealous. I knew we had no one like that, i wish we had though. Can you tell me Peter, are any of our players staying behind? Do you see any marked improvement technically or otherwise from self training in any of our players? We have a group of kids who could be exceptional with the right guidance and attitude.

    Spot on, sir!

  5. How many of our players would you say are world clas? Also i bet they don't stay behind EVERY training session. You're basing all this pish on nothing apart from how often you check your twitter and the few times you've been to the training, it's pitiful mate.

Now you're calling our players shit. Class supporter you are.

You really think me sticking up for our players is controversial? You're a nutter. You clearly don't like the fact that you're opinions aren't shared by everyone.

I said if YOU are shit at something that you need or want to be good at, you practice to be better.

I pay for a £396 season ticket, I am titled to moan about the team if I feel they aren't playing well enough.

  6. perhaps they do the extra training - 3:30 till 5 - perhaps they only do extra training every second day - perhaps their 3 hours they do in the morning is Good high quality stuff and extra is not needed - there are many things it could be but it sounds like you are just fking moaning and mumping for the sake of it !

    Enjoy your thread.

Paying £396 for a season ticket, I have the right to moan if I feel the team isn't playing to a high enough standard. They aren't. So, try harder. Train harder.

  7. How on earth do you know how long every team who is deemed one of the best in the world trains for?

So, what? Do we just have a lazy set of staff and players? I don't like to make any comparison, but I'm pretty confident Celtic don't train any longer than us, and look what they're doing just now. The length of a training session isn't everything.

If you look at my last post, you'll see I'm not defending the players at all. I said the training shouldn't make a difference with the players that they're playing against, and that should be true. The performances have been terrible, but there is also no proof that if every training session was an hour long that you'd see improvements, another statement you've just taken off the top of your head with nothing to back it up with.

It wasn't me that said to add an hour onto training sessions to be fair. Personally, I'd have them at Auchenhowie till half 4 every day. Training doesn't have to consist of pure physical work, as I said. Talking tactics, looking at videos etc helps your game.

I don't want out team to have the mentality that they should train till they are good enough to beat who we are playing against. I want them to train till each player in our team is playing to the best of their ability. That is the benchmark, and that is what each player should want to achieve.

It's the same in any job, no matter what position you hold. You want to be the best. You want to work to your highest standards, that's how you get noticed and that's how you get promoted or a wage-rise.

  8. Yes you've watched training before, repeating this doesn't mean you have proof that they never do stay behind.

You've completely ignored my point about Lee Mculloch anaw (td)

Anyone who disagrees with you is an idiot? Okay, so half this board are idiots?

Really? World-class players stay behind after every training session and practice more. If the Rangers players had that mentality, surely I would have seen them on one of my trips to Auchenhowie?

Oh, 1 player trains outwith training. Well done, 1 rep for you.

What do you do when you are shit at something that you have to be good at? You practice more to up your game.

Why should it be any different with our players?

You are one of the guys on this board that just wants to be controversial with everything you say, just to get an argument going. I have noticed it since you joined the board. I'm not going to waste my time with you.
