  1. Rangers boss Ally McCoist insists there is “no panic” at the club as they try to bring in new recruits, despite seeing a number of transfer deals stall or called off.

The SPL champions are due to fly to Slovenia on Wednesday for their Europa League play-off round first leg against Maribor a day later, with McCoist keen to take advantage of a UEFA allowance to register one additional player by 11pm on Wednesday night.

McCoist though says there is no guarantee of the likes of Alejandro Bedoya or Carlos Bocanegra joining up ahead of the deadline but maintains that the club are doing everything within their power to add to the ranks.

“We are continuing our search and our pursuit of new players but no more so than we were already and there is no panic,” McCoist told Rangers’ official website.

“In an ideal world, it would be great to get somebody into the squad before the signing deadline for the Maribor game, of course it would.

“But I'm not going to sit here and say there's a great chance of that happening or otherwise. We will just keep working on the deals we are trying to push through.”

McCoist’s need to bring in a defender ahead of the Maribor game appeared to have been increased by injuries to Kyle Bartley and David Weir, with possible stand-in Lee McCulloch also struggling.

Full-backs Steven Whittaker and Sasa Papac are also suspended for the tie but McCoist says he will give the injured trio every chance to prove their fitness, having originally been written off for the fixture.

“We've got injury doubts and we'll give them right up to the last minute before deciding whether they can play or not,” he said.

“Kyle obviously came off in the first half against Inverness because he was feeling his groin and that was a blow for us.

“Davie has been doing some light training and Lee McCulloch is the same so we'll see where they are later in the week.

“But we'll get through that and we'll see where we are with various people ahead of kick off on Thursday.”

  2. all radio stations attack us in some way so i listen to clyde.

alternatives:bbc scotland bores me and could honestly get me falling asleep

real radio not really listened alot so cant say much about it

talksport english channel scottish footy gets 5m if there lucky plus regular bulletins on the cricket.

ever since i listened to the tranny its always clyde ive listened too.

  3. If we're going from perhaps spending £2M on Cuellar or around £2.5M on Juhasz to now buying Bocanegra for a few hundred thousand pounds as our new centre back then surely that indicates that our Champions' League exit has had a big impact on our spending capabilities.

agree 100% 2-3m on players now 400k on players with no sell value.

  4. would it not be better to have a singing section in each stand instead of BF1 and the rest spread all over the stadium in small pockets to bring the atmosphere louder.

At the same time players on the park MUST show us theres something worth singing about like players willing to go through brick walls for the club.

  5. i dont know how many of you will remember this when rangers played st.mirren pretty sure it was at parkhead in a cup tie when williamson and mcpherson came out the tunnel side by side with a huge height difference between the two.

well in the warm up bobby had the ball shot at the open goal hit the post and the ball came straight back at him and had another go and hit the other post everybody was pissing themselves laughing 83-85 kenny mcdowall was playing for the saints that day and had a full set off hair.

    pretty sure we won 3-0.

  6. im not talking about business men buying the club and TRYING to make a profit or even break even im talking about well less off clubs(countries) in europe today where a multimillionaire or billionaire spends money even knowing they have no chance of making there money back for the hell of it.

Even in the last 6 months ive seen small teams get very rich individuals.

    Look it up for yourself.

  7. We all enjoyed some of the CL games in the advocaat era beating or scaring the shit out of the biggest teams in europe and putting a marker down.

But the last few years excluding the EPL we have seen wealthy individuals pumping money into well less off clubs or countries and splashing the cash but as of yet no wealthly individual have done it in Scotland but why?

before you say it i know the SPL is pish and in a way murray was our "nutter" but not in the scale that has arisin in the last couple of years.

  8. whoops another rangers player leaves for a better paycheck,no in all serious a holiday in turkey for a couple of weeks is ok but living there permanately was never a goer for number 1 reason particular MOST scottish players going abroad dont last long because the other half starts bitcnin an moanin this place sucks etc especially with kids and language barrier it was only a matter of time before he returned.

  9. This time last year we were financially humped....multiple signings were not expected. This year we have made numerous attempts to buy reasonably priced players who have all gone to "lesser" teams due to poor negotiating or a unwillingness on our part to pay the going rate.

    Thats the BINGO (tu)
