  1. Fair enough, then the current Rangers holding company should also be liable for the debt, you can't have it both ways I'm afraid. Who do you think you are? the SPL!

If the money was earned prior to Administration it has to go to the creditors I'm afraid.

    HMRC aren't the only creditor.

I'd be perfectly happy if BDO (who I assume have a legal obligation to recover monies owed, no?) recovered the money owed to the oldco & it went towards all the creditors who were left out of pocket - might stop the fucking bheasts rattling on about the poor newsagents etc. that are owed money...

In fact - i'd like to see SDM put his money where his mouth is & sue the fuck out of all & any media/blogs/individuals that were spreading malicious lies about us & put any monies recovered towards paying off the oldco debt, that would Royally get it right up them. Could leave the oldco up & running as a depository for monies won through litigation. Then any left over cash could be transferred to the newco on the behalf of oldco shareholders who've effectively lost out though various bond schemes etc.

    :crabflute:

  2. Arses will be twitching

Hopefully not just sabre rattling from Murray - who would any libel damages be payable to, oldco? Not that that is the most penitent issue rising from all of this - personally I'd be happy to see hmrc moles in jail & various bheastly bloggers reduced to gibbering wrecks in court with their devious efforts laid plain before them... and a Jury.

Some mhanks in the Clyde would also be nice :craphead:

    :sherlock:

  3. Just seen this - apologies if It's popped up elsewhere - claims to have emails relating to hmrc leaks & claims "a lot of litigation" in pipeline...

Let's hope some fuckers are nailed to the wall for this, the ramifications of hmrcs fucking witch hunt will leave a bitter taste in the mouth for years to come...

"The collapse of Rangers should never have happened, former owner Sir David Murray has claimed.

Breaking his silence over the tax tribunal ruling which cleared the oldco Rangers of making £47.6 million of illegal payments to employees, Sir David told The Herald: "Nobody has won, there is no point in me waving a big flag and saying we have won – Rangers has been destroyed."

The former chairman, who sold Rangers to Craig Whyte for £1 in May last year, said the handling of the case by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) had not only killed Rangers but had raised serious questions about the publicity surrounding the case.

"There is going to be a lot of litigation now because the leakage on this is frightening," Sir David said, adding that his Murray International Holdings (MIH) group had copies of emails which demonstrated the leaking of confidential details.

MIH has instructed its lawyers to review reports of the case in printed media and on the internet. It said: "While MIH has at all times respected the privacy of the tax tribunal proceedings, a substantial quantity of confidential information relating to the case has become available for public consumption, stimulating considerable discussion and often ill-informed debate. This has been wholly inappropriate and outwith the fundamental principles of natural justice."

Sir David was alleged to have been the biggest beneficiary of the Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs) set up by Rangers. He received £6.3m of tax-free income over nine years, an award-winning BBC Scotland documentary claimed.

Sir David said: "What I find amazing is we were guilty until proven innocent. This is the only case in history where awards were given to TV programmes when there hasn't even been a result. But I need to stand back at the moment, this is not a time for triumphalism because nobody has won, the taxpayer hasn't won and Rangers hasn't won. This should never have happened."

Sir David confirmed MIH had offered HMRC an out-of-court settlement two years ago worth more than £10m. He said: "The amount of time, effort and fees could be seven to eight million quid on top of that. Clearly if that had happened we would not have ended up with Craig Whyte.

"The biggest question is why the Revenue knew in August 2011 that Craig Whyte wasn't paying national insurance and tax but didn't put him down – this has so many ramifications for business."

The EBTs were awarded to players as a top-up to their salaries but the HMRC tribunal ruled the payments did not break tax law as they were made in the form of a loan.

Speculation has been mounting that HMRC could now pursue individual players and club figures for payback. Mark Houston, a partner at Johnston Carmichael Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers in Edinburgh, said HMRC would have no remit to do so – unless it successfully appealed the tribunal decision.

Mr Houston said: "The tribunal has ruled that Rangers is not liable for tax on the payments made under EBT on the basis that the payments were loans and not earnings. That effectively closes the door on HMRC being able to go after players."

BDO, the liquidators of Rangers oldco, which is officially known as RFC 2012 Plc, could have the power to pursue the unpaid loans given it was club cash that financed the trust. A spokesman said: "The Joint Interim Liquidators are reviewing the tribunal's decision closely so as to determine the impact on the liquidation of RFC 2012 Plc".

Charles Green, Rangers chief executive , said the tribunal decision undermined the validity of the SPL's own independent commission into the use of EBTs. It will go ahead early next year with a number of EBT issues over and above those heard by the HMRC tribunal to be examined. If the commission finds the club broke SPL rules on staff payments, Rangers could be stripped of a number of SPL and Scottish Cup titles.

Mark Dingwall, spokesman for Rangers Supporters' Trust, said: "The biggest thing is it [the HMRC ruling] blows the SPL's attempts to strip titles from Rangers out of the water. The SPL tribunal should be disbanded immediately."

HMRC said it was considering its next course of action.

Meanwhile, Hearts accused the HMRC and other individuals or groups of hampering the club's battle for survival as the club's share issue reached £600,000 in under a month, one-third of the way to its £1.79m target."

  4. I've met Paul Holleran, the NUJ rep, a few times in unrelated circumstances - geniunely nice guy - fuck knows why he's bowing to that clown Thomson's agenda... probably under obligation to repeat whatever shitey biased info he's been "advised" of by his underhanded snake bastard colleagues.

Incidentally, he's also a massive Liverpool fan - wonder how he would react to Thomson making abusive comments regarding the 96 who died at Hillsborough? Would he be so willing to co-operate with Thomson if he'd mocked up an animation of the "Eternal Flame" memorial being blown out?

    Hmmm.

  5. I occasionally sit in GF1 - was there on Saturday & wondered what the fuck was going on that justified 4 or 5 stewards marching into the middle of the section shouting at folk (judging by the way the stewards were going in, I thought it was a fight...). Then seen a guy (OP's mate maybe?) remonstrating with them (all the while the rest of the section were booing & jeering), was pretty surprised when they led the guy out - he certainly didn't appear to be abusing them or behaving in a threatening manner, although he may have described their actions as a "fucking disgrace" as he was being led away, which to be fair - was fairly accurate in my appraisal.

I heard a few folk talking about it afterwards & how it had all stemmed from a couple of guys standing up, total joke, especially as previously mentioned - half the QP fans were standing for the duration & not one steward had anything to say about that.

No wonder we're seeing great big "fuck g4s" banners...

  6. I thought he was excellent against Motherwell. Seems to have had another great/good game today. I think this is a guy who thrives on big crowds/atmospheres. Maybe there's more to it than that though...

I actually thought the motherwell game was his best performance - could say that about half the team mind

  7. I'm starting to like the big man, he's beginning to show some composure on the ball & doesn't generally fuck around with it - near shit myself when he nutmegged a qp player with a passback to Alexander while it was still 1-0 though!

  8. I disagree Spectre. He posts like someone who would be arrested if he used such language at a football match.

Wholly agree - early morning wake-ups from Mr Plod must be in the pipeline, one bitter sad fuck. Hope he's sacked too. Have VB registered a complaint to the local constabulary under the "offensive communications" act?

    :sherlock:

  9. Anyone know if this will be an online thing only - is Rangers TV still listed on satellite listings (I have Sky & can't remember last time I noticed it)? Would be potentially a better money-spinner if it were accessible through normal tv although i'm not sure if the fannying around behind the scenes with broadcasts etc. would be a lot of extra hassle for one game (in the first instance).

    I'll 'ave it anyway!

  10. Numero 4, obviously... :21:

However, on a more serious note - how long will it take before the SFL clubs start to feel the pinch so to speak, they won't have buckets of cash lying around & will most probably be relying on whatever meagre sum they get from this deal to keep afloat?

Bastards - how much is left in the RFFF as obviously this affects us too?

    :sherlock:

  11. A no from me i would rather fight through the division than support the Corrupt SPL financially.

This - most of the SPL clubs couldn't wait to publically put the boot in to appease their rather short sighted support, with a 3 year Euro ban hanging over us it certainly looks to be more beneficial for the financially struggling SPL clubs to have Rangers playing against them every week than the next pishy mob... especially if you consider that this would be their best ever chance of getting a result against us.

We've essentially just built a brand new team & as yet it hasn't fully realized its full potential - this will (most probably) take time, maybe even beyond this season & as the level of opposition gets tougher i'd expect us to raise our game accordingly - i'd be slightly worried that rushing back into SPL2 or whatever the fuck it'll be called would primarily be for everyone else's benefit than ours.

I reckon we should tell them to GTF - we'll stay in the lower leagues & work our way back then run riot over what's left of the SPL upon our return, as the team grows in strength we should be serious contenders for all cups available, making the SFA setup even more of a laughing stock.

On the other hand - the desparation of the SPL leaves us in a strong bargaining position, they need us more than we need them in my opinion - hope Charlie Green realizes this & without European football to look forward to i'd be more than happy to stay away from the SPL until our 3 years are up, which would coincide with the expected timeframe for returning to the SPL the "sporting integrity" route... i'd really like to hear Green say that in fact :sherlock:
