  1. indeed, Froch got lucky vs Taylor, lost to Dirrell, lost to Kessler, outboxed the smaller Abraham who's really a middleweight, look poor vs an ancient Johnson, looked as slow against the physically stronger Ward, beat an overhyped Bute who had practically been KO'd by Andrade then took some televised sparring against Mack.

I'm being rather harsh ofcourse, but the point is Froch is believing his own hype. He's not in the class of a prime Kessler, and not close to Calzaghe, if he beats Kessler tomorrow then it will likely either be a hometown decision or he's simply less shopworn.

I still fancy Kessler and the Froch hype got me generous odds.

  2. he was asked if he would make up with him because they fell out at a recent tournament (Garcia accused Woods of drawing his clubs during his swing, thus creating a crowd reaction).

Garcia replied sarcastically - "sure, i'll invite him round for fried chicken" which has racist connotations.

  3. http://www.dailyreco...nces-up-1767244

In the 13 league games Celtic played between the start of the season and their game against Kilmarnock on January 30, the club reported an official gate of 597,391.

But over the same period the club have only reported a figure of 437,990 to

    the police.

It means the publicised figure has been inflated by 159,401 – a 36 per cent increase.

So the average number of people at each game was 33,692 rather than 45,953.

  4. Kind of agree here. I'd favour Chisora to out-work Audley but Chisora isn't as big a puncher as Price or Wilder.

Yup, audleys a joke figure to casual fans for suffering early ko's to price, wilder and haye, but the reality is most guys outwith the top 10 suffer the same fate vs those 3 huge punchers.

Audley v chisora is competitive. I wouldnt even mind him vs fury. Fury likely stops him but Audley might hang in long enough vs the lighter punching fury to get a big left home.... now that would be sweet!

  5. Was meaning matthyse has not been punching guys at 147

He struggled to take out devon Alexander so it will be even harder with mayweather

perhaps, and Judah, but he hurt both badly and knocked out his other 32 opponents. I don't have any doubts he'll carry his power, or potentially improve his power at WW, it will give him the capacity to put on a few more lb of lean muscle.

  6. i think it's fair, what would be the point in a 12-month subscription to Sky if buying it day-to-day was cheap as you like, especially considering that major events only occur at weekends. Rather than using subscriptions at all, everyone would just buy a cheap day pass at weekends when they planned watching the football.

£10 is good value if you perhaps have a Saturday off and there's alot of sport on that day. You could potentially get 2x Premier league games, 2x La Liga games in the evening & fight night boxing at night. That's great value for your 1-off £10 and your not paying for a subscription, a Sky box, installation and a big dish on yer hoose!

In America people pay $70 to watch pay-per-view events like boxing, which potentially could be over in a round or 2. Think of this as PPV sports, £10 is good value for potentially alot of Sport for people who may not beable to afford or commit to lengthy subscriptions.

  7. As they say on Chewing the fat....

"Youve taken that toooooooooooo far !!

I disagree with alot of business decisions made by Murray during his tenure but his only real 'crime' was selling to Whyte like a coward.

We all like to get on board with this Charles Green sentiment that a club should have no major shareholder because it's the in-thing, but a ship needs a captain and a kitchen needs a head chef. The old guard was more professional in it's operation of the club than what we've had since. We need to a major shareholder calling the shots with a reliable board in place.

  8. Mayweather will be too good for matthyse , too good a chin and hard for matthyse not fighting at 147

He might be too good for him but it's impossible to say he has too good a chin. Mayweather was put down by Zab judah, busted up a bit by Cotto and hanging on from grim life against an ancient Mosley. Matthysse is the biggest puncher p4p in the sport who's won every fight by KO. And i presume you meant it would be hard for Matthysse to move to 147? I wouldn't at all, he's pretty big for 140, and rehydrates into the mid 150's which is what Mayweather weighs in the ring. No issue in Matthysse moving into 147.

  9. I dislike the cult of Mourinho. Which is the creation of both Mourinho and us. There's a difference.

When someone says something utterly baffling like "it would have been fitting for Mourinho to be the man to win Real their 10th European Cup" I just think "why? Why would it be more fitting than for literally any other manager to have won it?"

It would have been fitting if a great servant of the club like Jorge Valdano hadn't been forced out to appease a short-term manager.

Because it would be a crowning moment in Mourinhos career as he broke a record himself. The cream rises to the top, and to see the best manager in the game today lead the best club to a record breaking European Cup would have been a fitting pinnacle to Mourinhos career.

If he goes to Chelsea i think his Chelsea side will thump Moyes' Man U & the flavour of the months Man city, which i can't say i'm looking forward too.

  10. Was hoping Mourinho stayed with Madrid, it's been over a decade since Madrid won the European Cup thy so famously hold the record in, it would have been fitting for Mourinho to be the man to deliver it, and break the record himself.

  11. I think Froch wins a decision this weekend. Should be a good fight.

i've a hunch Kessler might stop him. Something tells me Froch's ego is a little bigger than his talent right now and he might eat some sickening body shots. I'll be putting money on the 2 underdogs - Kessler & Chilemba, on the basis i think they are both better boxers than Froch & Bellew.

  12. I just don't think Floyd puts on as much weight overnight as you think he does. Not at welterweight anyway.

Well from the info we have available, since he has only stepped on the scale once in the last 7 years vs Ortiz, we know he's at least hitting 150, and in between fights, even staying in very good condition he's walking around about 160+. From now on he'll either be more or less maxing out the WW limit at 147 or 146 depending how much he dries out, or he'll be competing at Light-middleweight, probably weighing in around 152 like he did for Cotto - if he takes the Canelo fight as planned.

  13. I don't think he is, and the fight night weights that are on record for Floyd suggest that he isn't close to mid to high 150's.

feel free to dig those records up.

Mayweather constantly refuses to step on the scales on the night unless he knows his opponent is outweighing him - he's a smart guy, it's PR so that when he regains little and his opponent regains alot he can say 'look how much this guy outweighed me by'.

Check the HBO feeds, the only time they have reported his fight weight since Zab Judah was vs Ortiz because Mayweather knew Ortiz was a drainer.

He weighed 150, Ortiz 164. That's a 4lb gain overnight, which is lower than the standard rehydration gain for a fight.

99% of the time the fighter regains, it makes no sense that he would lose weight like he "claims" vs Oscar, it's ridiculous, you hydrate as much as you can. Not for weight purposes, for energy - i'm sure you;ve experienced dehydration in sport. Doesn't end well.

And FTR, when he did his wee thing on WWE vs the big show he was 160lb. Take a look at his conditioning, he's obviously got a little higher body fat % than he would after a training camp & fully hydrated, but that's a 'normal' weight for him. If you look at him in that condition, it explanis why it was impossible for him to cut 16lb for Marquez. Can you imagine how hard it is to lose over a stone when your already in that kind of condition?

  14. According to Floyd he was 147 on fight night against Cotto and he had a cold that weekend, no idea if that would make him lose weight though.

And I'd say fight night weights are pretty relevant when you consider that Chavez Jr. can weigh around 180-190.

190, behave! he's hit 181 from 160 and he's an extreme example also busted for using diuretics to get that water off. When 2 guys are on the scales the day before we can see how much lean muscle & fat they are carrying. For the most part you see 2 well conditioned guys more or less maxxing out the weight with a fair bit of dehydration and very low body fat. When Floyd hits the scale at 147 he's all lean muscle, it makes no sense he would lose weight, the only weight he could lose is in water, and why would he dehydrate hismelf for a fight?

The guy is the mid to high 150's on fight night.

  15. Quite easy to fluctuate by 3lbs given the body's water retention.

why would you dehydrate yourself for a fight? Fighters dehydrate for the weigh-in and cut fat to make weight, then in the 30 odd hours before the fight they start to eat and drink water so they have the right amount of energy and hydration.

  16. Well, Floyd weighed in at 147 on fight night against Judah, 147 against Cotto. He was 150 against Ortiz. Those are just fight night weights off the top of my head but my guess is Floyd is rarely above 152.

About 2/3 weeks before his fight with Guerrero he was at 148lbs.

there's no weights for Cotto as neither man stepped on the scale, but you can't seriously think he LOST 3 pounds overnight? Did he have chronic diahorrea?

Actual fight weights aren't as relevant as weigh-in weights either, Floyd has been maxxing out 147lb since 2005... that's 8 years ago. And you can check his weigh-in pics for every fight since then. He's maxxing out with virtually no body fat & looks pretty dry leading to his amazing definition (particularly in the abs). Floyd at 147 is ALL lean muscle, that's why he couldn't make 144 for Marquez, once he hits 146 there's nothing left to cut without cutting into lean muscle.

  17. I've no interest in Floyd-Golovkin. Golovkin is a middleweight, Floyd is a natural light welterweight.

this 'natural' shit doesn't make sense, Floyd couldn't make 144 for Marquez couple years back. He maxxed out 147 vs Hatton and was lean & cut to fuck, then he refuses to have his fight-night weight taken, which is probably in the mid to high 150's.

I don't think he'll be fighting Triple G, because G won't go to 154 and Floyd has hit a cieling at 154 for sure, but he's still the 154lb champion & the crop of guys at 140 are all pretty big, so there is a decent amount of opponents for him in the 147-154 range.
