  1. thanks, but not providing a distinction between 'pints' and 'turnstiles' in your original post was a critical mistake that caused the apparent misunderstanding.

Fair comment. For that reason I have added an addendum to the original post to avoid further misunderstanding.

  2. Good comeback, but I was well aware of your implication - you on the other hand look a bit foolish...saying that you wouldn't have approved of the Curtain - legend has it some cunts got lifted over the turnstiles back then, a terrible sin - you would have been giving it 'down with this sort of thing' outside Ibrox, getting queer looks and tagged beatnik.

Had I been alive I would be more likely to have been a liftee.

  3. Don't think I hadn't noticed your 'pinko' chat earlier, a lot of Rangers fans were Communist right enough so another own goal, braaavo - half their relatives and descendants will be filling Ibrox fortnightly.

I did know about the Iron Curtain and, in the continuing theme of this thread, I was being facetious.

Having said that, irrespective of any history of communism and Rangers, I am personally strongly against communism and think anyone who is a communist is at best sadly misguided, and at worst a dangerous element. That's just my personal opinion though.

  4. 'your comment demonstrates that you know fuck all about the history of our club, making you look like a real fuckin' asshole, mate!'

Exactly! And that is not hyperbole!!

I'll happily admit I didn't really know about this, but then I'm not much past 30, so I wasn't there at the time, so why would I? It's not like kids getting lifted over turnstiles has featured heavily in some documentary about "the good ole days" of football.

Why does not knowing obscure shit that went on in the 60's make me an asshole?

Hey, I'm not going to keep it going, happily end the chat here but glad I spoke up. Will remain a bit disappointed after the work I'd noticed you had done on TBB planning etc. but no one gets it right every time online I just don't like to see deeply personal insults flying around. Peace.

I missed this post earlier, sorry about that. Had I read this earlier I probably wouldn't have posted the last few posts at you. :P

Do you really consider a salary/money earning comment to be a deeply personal insult? I am a little surprised by this, as it's not something I have ever really heard someone get annoyed/upset about before.

  5. Pish; unadulterated, revisionist, self justifying, claptrap.

Stop. Posting. Random. Words. Like. This. Is. Not. A. Telegram.

P.S. Revisionist fuck all, I know what I said, re-read the thread and you will too. Perhaps I could have been clearer so as to avoid misunderstanding, but I wasn't expecting a load of offended abuse for my opinion either way.

  6. So, let me get this straight... Vini was 'being sleekit' by lying about his earnings to try and put someone else down?

Back on topic at last. (tu)

I wasn't lying about my earnings, I earn a very good wage, I'm a senior developer (computer programmer) with 15 years experience. It just so happens that at the moment I am studying full time so I am not currently earning that wage.

Mind you when you think about it, it sort of stands to reason that a guy calling himself "Iron Curtain" has such a problem with my original comment.

Aside from that, the other reason a few people are having a go at me is because they think I was objecting to the lifting of young lads over the turnstiles back when Ibrox had terraces. In actual fact I was much more annoyed by the bragging about stealing pints from "every pub around Hampden".

  7. And what insult was that. The only insult was you joining this thread. When someone starts a thread you destroy it. Taig or some other shit. This was a thread with a bit of banter. But you fucked it up with crap.

I disagree. I think this thread is more entertaining now than it possibly could have gotten without my involvement.

  8. in the early sixties and before, i never saw a wee boy twelve and under ever pay for a ticket in the terracing, and i went to every home game between 1960 - 63.

it was never a matter of ripping Rangers off - this was simply a tradition at ibrox for young boys - never saw a cop or Rangers staff ever pull a kid up for geting a lift over the turnstile - just about every punter participated.

it was status quo for the terracing.

now the stand was a completely different story - no lifting over.

when i was 12, i'd take the empty ginger bottles in to get enough for the bus from the 'briggs to the toon, and then onto the underground to ibrox, making sure to be careful showin' my colours when passin' the animals - which was tough to do considering i was wearin' ma scarf, jersey, tammy and socks (which, by the way, i had paid for in support of my team with my paper route) buy the match programme, and ask to be lifted over, then pay for the underground and bus home and a stop in toon furr a tanner's worth of chips.

it was in those formation years that i, and most of wains lifted over, were imprinted with Rangers.

and since those days, i, like most of this 'thieving little shits', have spent thousands and thousands of pounds on tickets, planes, buses, cars, trains, hotels, Rangers scarfs, hats, rackets, banners, sweaters, jackets, shirts, watches, books, magazines, and just about every bit of Rangers paraphernalia you can think of.

so allowing kids to get lifted over was a very shrewd investment by Rangers - one that has returned millions for them in dividends.

your comment demonstrates that you know fuck all about the history of our club, making you look like a real fuckin' asshole, mate!

Nice post. You should make your own thread with it, it is far too interesting a post for this omnishambles.

I am going to assume you haven't read the rest of the thread and point out once again that my issue was with his thieving pints from various pubs, and not the turnstile thing.

The fact the everyone bothering to reply in an explanatory way, like yourself, has misunderstood my issue, means that I probably should have highlighted better what I was getting at.

  9. I'm offended that a fellow contributor on RM would even attempt to belittle someone else using money as a tool, particularly in such austere times. Speak about you own wealth if you so desire, using it to put someone down is fucking shameful.

Dude, be calm, I'm not rich. I'm a full time student at the moment. It was just the first random bullshit my fingers typed in response to an insult.

  10. Loadsamoney, and no class eh?

How you can have a pop at anyone's statements and then come out with this...unless you are having a wee in joke I've got to say that makes for fucking appalling reading. Saddo.

    Worthy of a ban.

What the fuck are you going on about now?

My god if you want a pint bought for you this badly I'll be happy to oblige at the next game I attend.

In the meantime stick your fucking nose out of what is obviously a direct conversation.

  11. How come you don't buy every cunt one, seeing as you're boasting about being on on what, 100k plus a year minimum?

This supposed wealth has already earned you the right to talk down on fellow Rangers fans, surely buying the lad a pint will only enhance your apparent delusions of grandeur...boss?

Everything that is wrong with the club, particularly after wealthy men almost destroyed then abandoned Rangers and the average punter was left to pick up the pieces, the club would have died without the rank and file.

Who said anything a bout 100k or whatever? Stop pulling numbers out of your arse and being offended that someone might be well off, and read the posts I made. It was just hyperbole intended to return insult with insult.

    Pinko.

  12. I'm getting a little concerned with these private messages, I was flattered at first now I'm not so sure

Nothing sinister. Just one of your pals messaged me and admonished me for bringing up your drinking problem, and convinced me that you were definitely a bear.

  13. You really need to to try and understand, times change, what was thought as perfectly acceptable in lets say the 70s, is not now. I was lifted over the turnstiles every game i went to, from the age of 6 to 10 or there abouts. I don't ever remember the guy at the turnstile having a problem with it. It was no big deal. Terracing as well of course, so there was never an issue with allocated seats.

I get that, and I am not objecting to it... what I do object to is the stealing pints from a pub malarkey (and the implications that the guy was an out and out thief when he was a kid). In fact that's not it either, everyone did naughty/silly/illegal things when they were a kid - but most people aren't fucking proud of it years later when they've grown up. I just don't get how bragging about your past thieving and being proud of your loutish behaviour back then is cool/funny/interesting. To me it's retarded, hence my first couple of posts.

The rest is just trolling the various mongs who are dribbling their way around the thread.

  14. No, a lot of things haunt you already. This just adds to the disgraced list. Never trust a guy with an avatar image of his own head

Not sure why I ever took you off ignore, despite what I was told in private message, you might be a bear but you're also a bellend.

Never trust a guy who uses his real name and photo online... yeah that make sense, you fucking clown.

  15. Desperate, and failed attempt to twist the meaning of my words. Horrible attempt to gain some cred after the bombast of before.

Its obvious that you have no inclination to what I am referring to when I mention the influx of fans Ibrox had around that time, particularly from the business class and how it coincided with the initially slow process of attendance dropping elsewhere around the country.

Says it all really... but your 'treble the wages' patter on the other hand will haunt you on this portal, in fact I'm sure it already does....

No, I can totally see how all of that is completely relevant to this thread. Oh wait.

P.S. Someone flames me and I flame back, not sure why that would "haunt" me, it's a slagging match, perhaps if you had some friends you'd understand. ;)

  16. Haha, what a sad individual. Bore off Fauntleroy, that's easily the worst post I've ever read on a Gers forum.

Elitist bullshit, the David Murray era of pouting and flouting has long gone, time for a few 80's and 90's 'newcomers' to go back to their provincial clubs and/or rugby.

Well I was going to leave this thread and its degenerates to rot, but it finally got entertaining. (tu)

So anyone who became a Rangers fan in the last 30-odd years (and therefore presumably anyone under 30) is elitist and should stop supporting Rangers and find some other team/sport to support. Interesting advice there old yin.
