  1. I thought this was a wind up thread :( but reading it I see its serious!

    doh

Thinking about it in Scotland if someone asks who I support I'll say "Rangers" but down south I always add "Glasgow" in front of it! I can't say it's ever annoyed me.

Down South? I've never said Glasgow in front of Rangers it when in the UK. To a friend in America I'll say Rangers - a team in Glasgow. But that's it.

  2. Usual pish, smelltic player bump up the price to a laughable amount Rangers player drive down the price to a laughable amount.

Same if the smelltic player stays he's being true to the club and wants to stay, Rangers player stays he's unambitious and too scared to move on.

That bit always annoys me. How can anyone say playing for Rangers in unambitious - especially this year. A team that was kicked to the kerb, back on the rise, playing football and earning results that catches the eyes of the English media.

  3. McCoist was a "natural" because of the style of team he was in, and the balls coming into him from the wings.

McCoist as a player would have been shit in the McCoist as a manager team - because the ball would have been punted long over the top, to him as a standalone striker against 4 defenders.

Boyd as a player under McCoist was too slow, lazy and useless at having to track back and play as midfielder, and CF rolled into one. But he could still find the net if he had the chance.

I'd be interested to see Boyd in this team - playing as the main mid CF in the MW 4-3-3 where he is told to pretty much sit in the opponents box the whole game

  4. Mr Laudrup could have done a little prep, maybe watched the highlights of a game before coming on and basically saying he hasn't bothered watching us for a few years. I mean he must have known he would get asked about our chances. A little disappointment on my behalf.

Incidentally i thought our draw was getting purposely blanked by both sky and BBC.

Maybe he was using that as an excuse to avoid saying "Rangers look so much better now under the Magic Hat so, yeah, they have a chance"...

Or showing no allegience to the previous team so that MW signs him in this January window :)

  5. You missed out Zelalems biggest negative, that when the opposition has the ball he is an empty strip. He will have the odd 5 minute spell where he will pressure the opposition but that's it. Zelalem adds to the risk of a counter attack not reduces it as you haven't taken into account when other players lose the ball. He flat out out refuses to track runners even when he can see we are exposed and he is best placed to do it. The St Mirren away game was the most blatant example of this when they hit the post. He had a chance to tackle and didn't and then he just let the guy run away from him and ten seconds later St Mirren hit the post and were unlucky to score.

    I agree.

My original post was almost double what I put, and I deleted a lot so I wouldn't bore everyone.

When Law loses the ball he is very good at tracking back and winning the ball, or attempting to win it while the opposition is in possession. Zelalem doesn't do this.

  6. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong here but...

Zelalem's style seems to be "get the ball, make a pass" - and his passing accuracy is pretty much perfect. Pinpoint is the word I'd use.

Law's style is "get the ball and either pass it or run forward and take a man on then pass it (or shoot if he's within about 20 yards) - sometimes it works, sometimes he loses the ball...

So, I've seen negative comments from people on here, in person, at games, about...

Zelalem's style - slows the game down, too sideways, doesn't go forward enough when we need to

Law's style - loses the ball, puts us under pressure if the opponent's counter

To me it's about what style you prefer?

Should we have used Law against Cowdenbeath, and any weaker teams? Weaker defences? To drive into them and score more.

Then use Zelalem against stronger teams (not stronger than us per se, but stronger by nature), like Hibs or if we draw Hearts in the cup - to hold the ball, keep the possession and not risk a counter attack?
