Would you seriously take McInnes over Preud'homme? that doesn't even lay a glove on what he's done in his career.

Don't understand for life of me why everyone is so desperate for McInnes. He's done what is expected of him, granted knocking Groningen out is decent but he still never made the group stages. Jimmy Calderwood managed that with the sheep.

Derek McInnes will not topple celtic in the next few years at least with Preud'homme we've someone who's won titles over the favourites all of his career (Standard, Brugge) or punched above his weight and ran the favourites close (Twente, Genk). Won't claim to know much about his stint in Saudi Arabia other than the team hadn't won the title in 6 years.

Don't think Preud'homme would come to Scotland. Don't think he's a long term appointment if he would.

Calderwood was in the UEFA Cup when it was 1 round then the group stages. McInnes is beating better teams than that every time before getting knocked out in the 3rd round. Granted Calderwood then qualified in 3rd out of 5 with 1 win then got a home draw with Bayern. McInnes would probably pull off similar every season if it was still the same format.

    McInnes is only 46.

Seen this and how anyone wants McInnes after reading the facts i'll never know.

    McInnes:

    - Failed at Bristol City
    - Won a league cup.
    - Consistently second in our domestic league.
    - Never further than third round qualifier for the Europa League in 4 attempts.
    - Would cost £1m more.

    McInnes:

    - Won the Championship with St Johnstone

    - Kept them up and mid-table for the next 2 seasons

    - Took over a basket case at Bristol City that were rock bottom. Kept them up then cost cutting saw them back to the same place

    - Took over 9th placed perennial shambles Aberdeen

    - Won the League Cup

    - Finished 3rd in the last kick of the season

    - Knocked Groningen out of Europe

    - Finished 2nd with a record points tally

    - Knocked Rijeka out of Europe

    - Finished 2nd

    - Finished 2nd with another record points tally, got to both cup finals, lost in the last minute to a side with 20x the budget (mastered tactics and learned from the previous final)

    The facts.

It's funny how everybody is tipping Aberdeen to finish second again this season but the emphasis is always put on us to be the ones to stop celtic getting ten in a row.

After three or four good years you would think the press and former players would be pointing the finger at Stewart Milne now and asking why he's not putting his hand in his pocket and giving McInnes the backing that Aberdeen need to try and have a real stab at a title challenge.

Genuinely what do you think they would need?

£30-40m to get anywhere near that level.

To win what? £2m in prize money. Then a punt in CL qualifiers.

And if it doesn't work, they die.

Can't say I'm shocked no-one's pointing the finger at Stewart Milne for a genuine title challenge just now. Maybe should have done it 2 seasons ago.

  4. Signed a bunch of utter duds. Gave big contracts to his old mates. We'll be worse than under Warburton this season. Comfortably outside top 2. We missed the boat with McInnes who will move to a decent English team after his next success.

  5. I've always said McInnes. The replies were laughable. Stuff about him not winning the league, on fucking Aberdeen's budget for fuck sake. Losing to 'diddies' from Kazakhstan in the THIRD round who were actually backed by gas billionaires.

    Fuck McInnes.

If we get rid of Caixinha we need to go out and get someone of a higher standard than McInnes.

Incredible stuff. We're fucked for years with complete nonsense like this.

No he's never been offered it so he couldn't of had it at any point.

Also we paid compensation for Caixinha.

I believe it was the 2016 meet the manager Q&A or whatever it is thing McInnes does that he said he was offered it in 2015. That specifically was when he signed a long term deal instead.

  8. McInnes could have taken the job about 3 times already.

We've gone for the no compensation option and he's used it to bump up his contract every time.

If anyone thinks he hasn't thought about exactly what he's going to say on every matter they don't know enough about him. He's poo-pooing Pedro's work, geeing up his fans as you can see from the comments on twitter, and if the worst comes to the worst tomorrow night our fans will blame having a mouthy manager etc as you can already see on here when nothing's even happened yet.

I bet you got banned from FF for being a taig, also Mcinnes has had great success in europe hasn't he ??

I got banned for saying McCoist wasn't good enough about 12 months before that was acceptable.

Why? So he can get us put out off of some Kazakhstan mob like he did last year?

You mean that team bankrolled by a gas billionaire with the likes of Arshavin playing for them? Helps to know what you're talking about.

Why didn't you mention him thrashing the Croatian league leaders 3-0 away in their only home defeat for 90 odd matches and knocking out the Dutch team as well. With the resources he has is basically miraculous.

No but bring in this nobody cos he has a fancy name.

I don't get the McInnes one any decent manager would have won the league last year after all we put timmy out the cup with the defence that hibs had no problem with in the final ... not to mention he's nearly 30 points behind them at the moment

    They lost 4 games.

He beat them twice in 90 minutes.

It's a myth how bad they were last season. They had 17 midfielders on their books. McInnes was always one injury away from catastrophe.

Can't be serious with the 30 points behind them at the moment? His entire senior wage bill is £1.8m, he's spent 175k on 1 player in 5 years and they train in local parks. How close do you think he'd get us with 6 times those resources, a transfer budget and training facilities? Still my choice above anyone just now.

Johnny Hayes is not worth a million quid. Same as garner isn't worth 1.8 million,  the fact is Aberdeen never wanted to sell him but a million quid to Aberdeen  is a lot as it is with us. Abit like how bale wasn't worth 85 million but if somebody wanted him that's what they'd have to pay.

Add the fact it was an English championship team that was interested the price goes up on the 1st phone call.

if you would pay a million for him then thank fuck your not the manager

I know it's cool not to watch any other football but I don't believe anyone knows a thing about Hayes going by the comments.

That, for 0.7 goals a game, would be an absolute bargain for £1m and if it isn't I'd like to know who is.

My thoughts are with his family who he has now left to pick up the pieces from his shite.  Suicide must be the most selfish thing anyone can do in life and death.  He was going to be a father ffs, poor wean.

Signed up just to reply to this before 50 others got in before.

I've been right on the edge, due to a financial black hole, work stress, failure. All while hiding it from everyone.

Words can't describe the mental distress, pressure and utterly despondent existence.

The only suitable analogy would be calling a man on fire jumping off a burning building 'selfish'.
