Dont disagree with any of that.

Those berating fellow fans for buying shirts were in the wrong in my opinion. So were those who berated the fans for holding the view that they were helping the club by boycotting.

Regardless, its now a division in the fanbase which can be removed, which can only be a good thing!

    Thanks mate.

Hopefully we can start to mend some of the other divisions within the support too.

Not having a go at anyone, but I think this does justify the stance of the supporters who did decide not to buy the merchandise.

There was always a case that kids should get the tops, as this just encourages them to follow in the future, but was never comfortable buying for myself.

Wouldnt have a go at anyone for buying a top, its their decision to do so, and I detest the idea of fans turning on each other outside of the superstore (CH).

There was a little bit of muted hostility for those who did boycott the merchandise and I think this goes to show that as a fan base we do have some power to force change. Hopefully something we dont need to do for a long time though!

I see what you are saying and I kind of agree. It looks as if the boycott probably has worked in the end. I just disliked the way some fans went about it, berating other fans and encouraging people to get Lionbrand with no transparency.

I bought last seasons shirt as I had been living in Australia and for the last few years I hadn't seen a single one of our shirts on sale when we were in the lower leagues. The feeling I got seeing our strips on sale again was great and I thought well fans that live here need to buy them because if they don't then next year the Australian retailers wont order them in.

And it felt great buying a kit at the store. It was like being a kid again. But here's me sitting here thinking will I take it to Luxembourg next week incase someone has a go at me for giving Ashley money? I shouldn't have to even be thinking like that and no Rangers fan should to be honest.

I'd say that's a fair observation. I'd say in quite a few of the lesser games both would be sparkling, but often in the bigger games, IIRC, it seemed to be one or t'other taking things by the scruff (albeit neither ever went missing in big games, it's just one or the other would be that bit more on form and be the star of the show).

Both went missing a bit in the Champions League in 95/96 and 96/97. I think Gazza may have even got sent off a couple of times? Ajax? Dortmund?

But yeah the way I remember it is the same. One taking the game by the scruff of the neck - even in the Old Firms and cup finals I still remember Laudrup v Hearts 95/96 and Gazza v Hearts 96/97. Gazza v Celtic first game of 96 and then Laudrup in the second game in November when the fox ran on the pitch.

I even struggle to remember them combining? Is that true? Maybe the 95-96 Cup Semi? Or was it the LC QF? As I said I was pretty young.

  4. Laudrup for me. Simply because he was my hero when I was a kid. I worshipped him and its a great regret I never got to see him in the flesh as my first game was in the Advocaat era.

Gazza was more talented and I think on the day he probably shades it. But I would still have Laudrup in my team before him!

Probably because I was young I can't ever remember both having outstanding games in the same match? Can someone who remembers it better than me tell me if i'm talking nonsense?

We need to get a grip here, this first round tie it should be free for season tickets holders and a fiver to fill up the rest of the seats. Next round £10 - £15 max to keep the stadium full...after this game on and charge the relevant prices. Just my tuppence worth. This first game is a joke a total pub team...at best imo.

Im on CCCS and I was happy to pay full price for a normal league match. Ticket revenue is everything in Scotland because our TV deal is crap - and don't forget that we will still have all the usual costs for policing the game, stewarding, hospitality staff etc.

We can't really afford to be hosting matches at a loss. Having said that I completely understand your sentiment.
