ScottBF2 3,540 Posted August 7, 2009 Share Posted August 7, 2009 Turn Images into Sketches Pick an image, preferably a render, and add it into Photoshop. I'll use this render by Mark. Duplicate the render, and Desaturate (ctrl+shift+U) Duplicate the layer we've just desaturated (ctrl+J), and rename this layer '1' (Just to make the steps easier.) On layer '1' go to Filter>Blur>Smart Blur, use these settings: After this, Invert the layer (ctrl+I) and Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur, with 1.0 Pixels. Set the layer to 'Hard Light' You should now have something like this: Duplicate the desaturated layer again, and rename it '2', moving it above '1'. Go to; Filter>Stylize>Emboss, use these settings: Once again, set the blending mode to hard light. Again Duplicate the desaturated layer and rename it '3', moving it again to the top. Use Filter>Blur>Smart Blur again, using these settings: Invert the layer, and set it to 'Multiply', 40% Opacity. Duplicate the desaturated layer again and name it '4'. Move this to the top once more. Now, Filter>Stylize>Glowing Edges with these settings: Invert the layer and set it to 'Multiply' 40% opacity. Duplicate layer '4' and go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur, using a radius of between 3-5. Set the blending mode to Multiply. Additional Steps To add colour to the sketch, get the original picture and bring it to the top. Rename this layer 'colour'. Set the blending mode to 'Hard Light'. Duplicate 'colour' and set it's blending mode to 'color'. Done! End result; Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
