Del Juve 1
Italian sports daily Tuttosport claims that the Juventus hierarchy has promised coach Claudio Ranieri a bid for Chelsea star Frank Lampard in summer - should the manager meet his targets... Tuttosport has stated that Juventus will make an audacious move for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, should coach Claudio Ranieri guide the Old Lady to the Champions League places. Juventus have just returned to Serie A and are looking to pick up where they left off by challenging around the top of the table. Ranieri, though, wishes to build his squad for the long term - and may opt to build his midfield around Lampard. Now, Tuttosport claims that the Juve board has pledged to make a serious approach for the England international next summer, providing that they are guaranteed lucrative Champions League income. Frank is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2009, but has not yet re-opened negotiations with the club with a view to extending the deal. This has stoked the fires of speculation, with many claiming that Lampard could move on next summer - and Chelsea could opt to cash in on the former West Ham United man. What's more, the player's agent met with Alessio Secco, Juventus director, earlier this year, and publicly stated his admiration for Lampard.
