it could open the door for someone like Rory Loy, he's got to be banging on the door with his record for the reserves.
That's the third time I've seen someone say that...what is his record?

I don't get it. Are people seriously suggesting that Ferguson is/may become a legend purely on football ability? I mean he's a good player, sometimes he's been great but surely not one of the greats. I mean if you were picking a Rangers all time team you wouldn't even give him a second thought.
So, by your money we've only had 11 legends in our entire history? I don't buy it.
Actually Danny there wouldn't be that many more. I obviously set the standard for a Rangers legend higher than you.
You almost seem smug. As if my opinion counts for less because it defines something different. I hope I have misconstrued your point.Yes you have misconstrued. Not being smug just giving my opinion. Still, if we are talking smug...tell me, you said Ferguson is already a legend to 'us'...who are these 'us' you speak for?
I seem to remember you also have a much lower threshold for who warrants the tag 'world class'.World class is a meaningless term. Why, many call Ronaldinho world class yet on the very stage to display his class, the WC, he was frankly guff. As were so many of his supposed peers.Really? I don't seem to remember you having a problem with the term before. Of course what you say is a little bit silly as it also applies to the term 'legend' doesn't it?
That's one of the problems with these types of debates I suppose. I think the term Rangers legend would be an honour bestowed on the very best...the best of the best even. You obviously think differently so we are talking about different things. That's better. Is it? Why thanks for your patronage.
Yes, we do.We always have but even so, I'm genuinely surprised at you over Ferguson.

...he is far too injury prone and also commands wages of about £60,000 a week.
No way hell command that kind of money again.

A mistake if it is the Trust. Funny in places maybe but they should be seen to be above above that kind of thing as an organisation.

. . . in this country whether the scum play at san siro or whether the safety of Rangers supporters are paramount in what is one of the hotbeds of political upset ?
That's a good point.

how do we class legends? players who love playing for the jersey..john brown..players with big reputations.laudrup.. 1 club men..john greig..short term class terry butcher..or no class players who die for the club..sebo..
Or hard drinking smokers who leave the club for better things only to return with their tails between their legs and stab the manager of the club in the back? Apparently yes
-
This is a thought that came to me last night the first ones i could think of are Laudrup,Albertz,Gascogine,Goram and Super Ally
Only Ally McCoist out of those you mentioned IMO.
Agreed, but Laudrup would easily have been one had he been at the club longer.IMHO
Definitely. We were his main club though as he played more for us than anyone else.

I would like to think England would have a few teddy bears aswell.
With ex-pats, and some English, it's got to be right up there.
Edit: There's a few in Cornwall as well as England

Never will be in my eyes. If that means I'm not one of 'us' dosen't Danny...so be it.
-
You wouldn't think they were 19 points clear of us would you?
That's the amazing thing isn't it? They seem to get worse are these circumstances.

Who's that suggesting we are as paranoid as them? Prat.

...what's best guys...Real Radio or Clyde?

briton:
This is a different banner talking about Labour not the pointless BJK stuff.
Oh sorry. Think that's stupid as well.

YSorry... am not very good at the quoting thing, but I am not following your George Best and Stanley Mathews references??Just a joke. Mathews played for us as a guest during the war and Best played in the match to raise money for the disaster, although technically that was a Rangers/Celtic IX.
Still...must rank in the top 5 players who played for us?
Yeah Wikipedia solved the mystery... I now understand you were joking but seriously Laudrup played his best football with us, I admit I thought it was more than 133 games but still. I guess it is always debatable but he, along with Gazza were just such a joy to watch. during their time with Rangers. Best, Matthews maybe the most legendary players ever to have played a game with us but Laudo.. Rangers legend... IMO
Well Gascoigne was never a 'joy' for me but that's a different story. I agree Laudrup was a great player as was Gascoigne but I just think that one of the qualifications for legend status should be that you played a substantial amount of games for the club. In Gascoigne's case we weren't even his main club as he actually played more for Newcastle and Spurs.
His hat trick never 'won the title'.The hat trick against aberdeen to win the title? Not a joy? Possibly the best single performance I have ever seen from an individual
... the double against hearts in the cup after knocking back a whisky at half time?? That wasn't a joy to behold? Many other performances that were just a pleasure to witness. The man may not rank as a legend in the same way as Laudrup but Gazza was often brilliant for us.Anyway I understand your view and its fair, I personally just don't feel the longevity is a necessary criterion for legend.
Having the man child at the club was never a joy for me. I disliked him well before we signed him and never wanted him at Rangers. To change my view of him would have been hypocritical. Of course I supported him when he was playing for the team, just as I'll support Ferguson this week. Still love him to booted out the door though.

I dont worry about McGregor, only sometimes at crosses...
Let's face it...we haven't had a keeper who was good with crosses for some time. It wasn't exactly Klos or Goram's forte.
-
Barry already IS a legend for us, and quite rightly too. He will go down in our annals as one of the great bears.
Frankly I think that is a joke...he may be a legend to you but don't include me in your use of the word 'us'...and I'm not alone in that. Great bear my arse.

good to see another ACDC fan online, went to Bon Scott's grave in Fremantle a few weeks ago in West Aussie, it's a the done thing over here, great to hear the young brother's are bears, we are the people!!
Always liked ACDC but Floyd are my number 1 band. There's great video of ACDC on Youtube performing in Scotland shirts but I can't find it. Should've saved to favourites
As for the official flight to Israel...I bet they're glad it's not Ossie flying the plane
Pink Floyd are my number one band too. Got all their albums and some bootleg stuff too. Money acoustic and the very first recording of comfortably numb. I also have them singing a christmas song which was never released.
Well I haven't got any Christmas song but I have several bootlegs as well as all the solo stuff including Wet Dream and Fictitious Sports on Vinyl. Don't have any means of playing them though Also used to subscribe to The Amazing Pudding and have a fair collection of those somewhere.

While I agree that the word Legend is thrown around with too much ease... Laudrup has to be classed as a legend. He is possibly the best player to ever have played for the club. Certainly in the top 5.
So Stanley Mathews and George Best are Rangers legends ?
I would also say that when Fergie is done in 5 or 6 years he will be remembered with legendary status.Ferguson will never be a legend in my eyes....never.

Out of our current team only Boyd has the potential to become a legend
If he ever scores against a decent team, then I might agree with you.and to rate Boyd above Barry as a legend makes me wonder where you're coming from.
Well he did say potential. A few years ago it would have been fair enough to say the same of Ferguson.

Well actually your right because if some of the players mentioned previously are legends then you might as well say they all are as some people obviously think the term means very little.
