  1. Much as I loved him as a player I'm not sure Laudrup played for us long enough to be classed a legend. 133 (44) games? All right that's more than any other club he played for but surely not enough to get into the legend bracket.

EDIT: Oops...missed the qualification above ;)

  2. Don't you think we use this term too much for average players just because our team is so bad just now?

Have been saying this for the longest time on this forum, but of course the younger Bears never agree with me. <cry>

As an older Bear I'll agree with you. I'll go further. It's not just about how good you are (or shouldn't be). For example, I don't rate the man child as a legend. I usually get pelters for that :)

To me you should also be of a decent character and also play a reasonable amount of games for the club. I love Dado Prso for example but no way can he ever be a club legend. I think some think of the word 'legend' as somebody who they have fond memories of while others think of a legend as one of an elite few.

  3. Taking Fertguson out the Rangers team would be the worst thing to do. Could you imagine a midfield of Hemdani and Rae? Slow, boring, backwards passing, no creativity and no talking!

No but he would be replaced by Thomson (should be Brown who is what we really needed). Remember...we didn't lose a single game without Ferguson this season. Now I'm not saying he's not a good player but I think his position should not be unassailable. Like everybody else he should have to justify his position. It doesn't help when even when he has what was no more than an OK game people say he 'ran the show' or give him 9/10...WTF is that all about?

Of course with the amount of fanbois he has, and obviously Smith is one of them, I suspect Ferguson will feature for as long as he wishes. I don't think this is a good situation for Rangers.

  4. I don't think we raised our game in Europe. I just think PLG's tactics were more European suited as the game is not played at 100 mph like theSPL.

There's little logic to it though is there? we went 12 games unbeaten and 6 of those were under Alex McLeish.

  5. If Walter decides on his usual away tie defensive, possession game on wednesday,Boyd will be left up front looking lazy, and uninvolved again.Would it be better if we

started with him on the bench, and let someone like Sebo chase and harry their defense ?Not the ideal way we would all like it but, what do you think guys?

Hopefully Smith will see how going for the jugular helped us beat Livorno...don't hold your breath though. Personally I'd play Boyd with Novo or Sebo up front.

  6. I'd love to see Ferguson dropped and not Hemdami

    Why????

Ferguson is our best player, he ran the show yet again yesterday.

He was all right again yesterday...nothing more, I fail to see the point in saying he 'ran the show'. He is being greatly overrated by many fans. I admit I wouldn't play him on principle and dislike him but I do try and judge him fairly from a football point of view. He is not good enough IMO to be our 'engine'. He is decent in just about every department but excels in none of them and is not the answer to our need for an attacking/goal scoring midfielder. I hope he proves me wrong and returns to the player he was three or four seasons ago for the sake of the team but I doubt it.

  7. Its all fine and well saying we could have had Pedesen and Cahill but perhaps they wouldn't have become the players they are now if they came here.

Cahill was already a class act at Millwall tho. How much did Everton pay for him?

Was about to say the same. Can't imagine him doing anything but shine at Rangers.

  8. on reflection I think Thomson is not worth £2 million .....

I thought Thomson looked good on the ball in the parts he played yesterday. Certainly a better, more skillfull, direct, faster, creative player than Hemdani. He will certainly have to prove that he is worth £2million, I think he will and him and Ferguson will be a great pairing.

I'd love to see Ferguson dropped and not Hemdami. Be very interesting to see how that worked out (not in this game though).

  9. Rangers travel to Tel-Aviv without, Prso, Klos, Buffel, Webster, Smith, Ehiogu and Thomson.

    G. Rae, Sebo, Gallacher, Robinson, Perry, Furman, McMillan, Loy and Lennon are added to the squad.

    --------------Boyd--Novo------------

    Adam--Hemdani--Ferguson--Burke

    Murray---Svensson---Weir---Hutton

    ----------------McGregor--------------

    Hapoel-1

    Rangers-2

My head says 3-1 to Hapoel but my heart agrees with you ;)

Got to say that is the worse looking Rangers team for years yet we are on the kind of unbeaten run that far superior squads could only dream of. It's a funny old game as they say.

  10. Walter Smith, the Rangers manager said. "Kevin had a wee injury from the Scotland B game but wanted to play. He was feeling his hamstring at half-time and he could have done more damage had he stayed on."

Do we not have enough problems yet our manager is taking chance with players who are injured and are new....flockin unbeleivable decision !!!!

Looks like Murrays mis-management is starting to rub off on Waldo already

Got to agree. Unprofessional and a silly decision by Smith.

I dont think anyone will be arguing that this was a silly decision.

Yes but doesn't that make you think? I doubt anyone would defend that decision, and I doubt many think it's a good idea to play Hemdami, Ferguson and Thomson together in any case, yet Walter Smith did decide to risk Thomson. That's the crazy thing..it's not as if we are desperate for a Thomson type player. I hope this is not a sign of things to come.

  11. Email/Letter/Phone call complaint campaigns do work.

Ask Graham Spiers who has effectively been sacked from his role at the Herald.

Hasn't he gone on to a better job? I think the only thing that could really work is boycott of a publication.

Erm, how can a move to the new 'Scottish' Times with a daily readership of 20,000 be considered a better job?

Gravitas? ;) My bad actually...I thought he'd gone to the Times :)

  13. good to see another ACDC fan online, went to Bon Scott's grave in Fremantle a few weeks ago in West Aussie, it's a the done thing over here, great to hear the young brother's are bears, we are the people!!

Always liked ACDC but Floyd are my number 1 band. There's great video of ACDC on Youtube performing in Scotland shirts but I can't find it. Should've saved to favourites :(

As for the official flight to Israel...I bet they're glad it's not Ossie flying the plane ;)

 (clap) 'Sharon how the F to you get the fing wheels to fing come down man

FFS Ozzie turn off the intercom

Actually it could make an interesting 'reality' show that. Various celebrities attempting to land an airliner. Bound to bring in the viewers. Think I'll suggest it to channel 4.

  14. IMO ourselves!, but i do believe we will get 2nd spot comfortably if we continue to fight and play with passion, and the obvious continue to play aswell at the back as we have since Waldo came back, and hope to f@#K Weir doesn't get injured, long way to go but we are now starting to see the foundations being laid for a successful Rangers era IMO

I don't think there has been any great improvement since we went back to 'Waldo'. People seem to forget how well we were doing, having beaten the Sheep, Hearts and outplayed Celtic until we had that horrendous night during a storm at Falkirk. Actually it's been much the same since the change of management but sadly i think that might change Wednesday...hope I'm wrong.

With the addition of the players brought in ..all be it ancient, injury prone and what ever other baggage theyve brought with them, this will be good enough for second IMO...no disrespect, but the rest are total mince, if we fail to get second place again....well its not an opition.

Watties shored things up nothing more, the play resembles junior stuff at times, and doesnt really need over analising,...its sh#te...your right, we played well up till Falkirk but its levelled of again..no real surprise there.

Actually think we might get through this round in europe...but hey what dae ah no..

Oh I agree but then again I don't think we would have missed out on second place if nothing had changed. It's not like last season when we found ourselves more than ten points behind second place (and even then would have got second if not for Celtic throwing it at Tynecastle).

Also...I know I keep disagreeing with the accepted theories but I don't think we particularly lacked fight under PLG (even with Barry 'Rangers through and through' Ferguson on a go slow) It was quality/guile/creativity that was lacking.

  15. Absolutely and it's not just been this season. Another area is our centre halves. We have been little threat at corners or set pieces. Contrast the number of goals that Celtic's defenders have contributed over the last few seasons compared to us. This year I'm not sure we've scored from that position. We have had several games this season when we have forced corners amounting to double figures but have not even threatened the opposing goal, let alone scored. Actually I can only remember Prso's winner at Fir Park as a goal coming from a corner. That was the first day of the season but there may have been others. Obviously I don't include Weir and Ehiogh in that as they've hardly had the chance to show themselves to be a threat in the opposition box.

  17. (tu) wow thats amazing

Usually people are exaggerating when they say that...not his time :)

On the subject of metal. I've been a Rangers fan for four decades and an ACDC fan for at least twenty years but I never realised the Young brothers were Bears until recently.

  19. the banner only tells the truth W.A.T.P

Who cares if it is the truth? Do you really think the people who use this to score points actually care about the victims? Of course they don't give a shit and everyone knows it. That is why they damage decent Rangers fans and the club with their pathetic scruffy bed sheets containing scrawled bile that has no place at Ibrox or anywhere else.

  20. Centre defence was or main problem. We didn't have a defender who could put their head on the ball. The fact that we have only conceded one goals since walter took over also shows this!

exactly we definitely had a defence problem...I am not so terrified when the opposition fire into our box now Big Dave has made a big difference

It is a problem area but never has been our main problem which is what I said. We have conceded only three fewer goals than Celtic yet find ourselves 19 points behind. Creating enough clear chances and goal scoring is our biggest problem, and in particular goals from players other than forwards. Also...defence starts with the forwards and includes the midfield. We have been much to easy for relatively poor sides to play through. It has always been a simplistic view that it's mainly because of our central defence that we are struggling IMO.
