I used to write for the zine under both the 'Horse' moniker and previously 'The Drum Man' and it's a great 'zine.
I recall George (The Ed) saying he was starting a website but then having delaying problems - glad he's worked something out with RM!

It would be the best bit of transfer dealing we have managed for many years if we could unload him without it costing us anything. Surely he Burke is worth as much as this useless bast8rd but we let Burke go on a free. I realize Burke was earning far more than he was worth but so is McCoulloch.

It is a vicious circle. The cost of servicing the debt also goes a long way to increasing the debt. However because of our situation we can't afford to buy quality players thus we seem to buy second rate players hoping they will do a turn and wasting more money. Many people on here still want to see us buying others and getting deeper in debt. At some stage we are going to have to bite the bullet, play home grown youngsters until we balance the books. Not a good outlook for our club.

I think to be fair to Greigy he was an inexperienced manager
My post was not meant to slag Greigy as a manager so to speak but it was a low point of supporting Rangers as far as results go in the last half century. I just don't remember feeling as bad at that time as I do now but they do say time is a great healer.

He still got us results though, and thats what matters.
He got us some results until the pressure was really on then in the last month the only result was a scraped victory over QoS.
We are in a worse situation than any time I can remember in 48 years since my first visit to Ibrox and that includes the John Greig era as manager in the early 80's. There can be no excuses for failure, we deserve better.
WATP.

Last season, Smith took us to 3 finals, and appeared to of had the league wrapped up early.
So my question is, how did this man turn into a complete nut case just 4 months later? Losing to Kaunas, and making some of the worst signings iv ever seen. Last season, he was incredible, but this season, hes a complete spastic.
Did you watch the way we played last season? Yes we scraped wins over QoS and D Utd in cup competitions and bored the pants off everyone with negative football to reach the UEFA final, then looked like nothing in the final. Results came our way but it was not because we were a superior football team. He steadied a sinking ship with negative football but could not then take us to the next level.

He takes:
Walter Smith
Ally McCoist
Kenny McDowal
Adam Owen
Pip Yeates
Martin Bain
Andrew Dickson
Donald McIntyre
John Greig
John McLelland
Alistair Johnston
Dave King
Donald Wilson
Paul Murray
With him and we get our club back . We need a complete clean out , Top to bottom.
Why would you keep Sandy fucking Jardine?

Coldest ground in Scotland especially if the wind is coming off the North sea.

Why do so many fail to either read a post or fail to understand what is said.
What I asked was is he due any praise for the 2nd half performance, not the whole game, not how much he's spent, not being 2nd to Smellik, not whether anyone else gets praised at work etc. etc.
:unionflag:
IMO. No he does not deserve any praise. Anyone worth their salt would have read the riot act in the dressing room. It is after all the job of the manager to sort things out when you are second best to the worst (bottom) club in the league at half time. A wonder strike from Pedro within 30 secs of the restart gave him the cushion then to allow him to make changes earlier than he normally does. Taking off KM and moving the right footed Nova into his correct position but then bringing on another right footed player to play on the left (No disrepect to CB he played reasonably well) is still not the sign of good management when you have left sided players on the bench.

Barry has been poor since his return but who do we replace him with in the current squad.
-
We played for 15 minutes in the second half, the first 5 and the last 10. 3 - 0 flattered us. Great to get 3 points and 3 goals for the goal difference but I would not think that our overall performance today was worthy of praise for Walter.
-
It is not easy to see who will take his place. However both Papac and Broadfoot were signed as center backs.

We should get the 200,000 we want.

Fringe players.
Carlie Adam, the only good thing about Adam is he cost FA, a boy who had potential given no direction hence wasted.
Lee McCulloch, bought by Walter played a few good games, talked a hell of a lot more, we were offered 2.5M from Stoke, why was it turned down? was it because he might make a decent CH. [i know,it's not funny]
Maurice Edu, 2.5M I'd be fucking pissed off to if I were him, becoming a regular for the U.S. now stuck in nowhereland, probably should not have been bought but not his fault [was he even scouted?]
Velika. 1M. see Edu minus the U.S. bit.
Chris Burke if he's unhappy then he has a fuckin' cheek, how much have you stolen in wages for your average 4-6 games a season?[& thats when your not injured].
Aaron Niques," I know son what's the point."
Chistian Dailly, there was no point.
Damarcus Beasley, Walter"I'll give you 90mins. to prove yourself"......." what do you mean you'll need a few games under your belt, do you think your names Lee McCulloch or something".
Nacho Novo, only 100%er we have,[though I think his time is over].
To all our youth players ,forget it you have no chance under him until you reach 28-29 if your lucky.
YOU have fucked all these players around Walter, did you really expect anything else?.
As for your excuses, I don't want to hear them, I'd have more respect for you if you'ld raise your hand and admitted that it was you who is making the mistakes and were willing to take the blame, [smacks of desperation to me]. :angry2:
Good post but what about Hemdani and JCD.

The CIS cup that we won
Good record by anyones standards
We won it but struggled to beat 2 first division sides! If that's your level, fine!
I never once said i wanted Ally as manager, but i dont see how we can disregard him purely on displays shown in the CIS cup which we won, or by his association to Walter Smith
Agreed, Ali is only allowed to do what Walter allows. Wait until he is a hero or villain before crucyfing him.
-
John Fleck? I have not seen him play, but i have heard he could be a future superstar.
Does anyone know what hes good at? Also who could you compare him to?
Are you really a Rangers supporter?
-
Leave the house around 6.00AM pick up KPL at his hotel and off to the Fox and Hounds for a 7.30 kick off.
We will then celibrate by beating the yanks in a 12 a side Ryder cup we have arranged for the afternoon.

Merry Christmas 1 and all.

I would struggle to make the choice if they were both on the same day. As there is 2 days between them I can't make up my mind between my team, my family and my faith.
Great line from the Number One fanzine
