  1. I'd keep them all for now at least. Smith has said Edu is one for the future and who knows what Mcullochs is, so its good to have him here.

I feel like i'm the only one who rates stevie smith but hes always looked good when hes came in for sasa, and in any case we'd get next to nothing for him.

As for Broadfoot, right now hes our best defending option in that position - Whittakers great going forward but can be a defensive liability. Also wouldn't get a lot for him, but personally i wouldn't be gutted if he left

  2. Doesn't help when you have the stewards telling people to sit down, and when supporters around you grumple, and moan when you start to get the atmosphere going.

I though the atmosphere today, like at most games at Ibrox, was awful, and why I prefer away day's.

    Away days are the best

  3. Got that cod liver oil + the orange juice in my head and couldn't sleep and got some words to the tune.

It IS 3 in the morning remember, but it'll maybe even gie us a laugh so aye:

God save the queen, and rule britannia

Fuck the pope, and no surrender

    Who-oh, oh,

    Macgeady is a bender,

    and-Tony Mowbrays got a monkeyheid

    Enjoy

  4. To be a youngster without 1st team experience put on for 5 minutes in a high pressure losing situation, i thought he showed great character to make an impact like he did. Handled himself well and looked dangerous up the wing. Considering our injury problems which deny a more tested LW player, i think he's earned a start. Was good to see him play today - along with fleck and little - as long as it keeps going. If we don't play these youngsters when our first team players are injured, there isn't much point in them being here

  5. The lead singer of Biffy is a bluenose, a lot of famous people turn their back on Rangers and claim they support Partick or something similar. Robert Carlyle comes under this category.

I think Simons a bit like that. I heard that he was an Ayr United fan growing up and would always have a bit of banter with the other two who are Killie fans, but i'm sure on Soccer AM he said he was a bluenose

  6. Anybody else hear the foamy mouthed tool who was trying to tell Traynor that celtic are 9 points behind because the establishment (refs and the media) are pro-Rangers! A typical timmy delusion as the opposite is generally true.

I'd believe this if our victories - and celtic's losses - this season were the result of refereeing decisions. But they werent. We were both gash at the start of the season, but so far rangers have reacted first after the sheep game and have confidence now. And how can the media be blamed?! If anything i would say that the media has had far more focus on rangers with financial woes, the Scotland fiascos etc.

    Poor little tims

  7. Ok, Bjorklund, you said this

Rangers fans will always have other things in common aside from football. This could be anything, religion, politics, musical taste, family, absolutely anything. But it doesn't change the fact that Rangers are a football club. I'm not against interests overlapping per se, what I'm against is secondary issues over taking the main one, in this case Protestantism being more important to some people than football when it comes to Rangers. You wouldn't let religion become the sole focus of your chess group, so why let it become the focus of your football club. If issues such as Protestantism, Unionism, Orangism etc. etc., are so important to a person, then I question the validity of their sole output of their interests being a football club.

I think there is a fine line between rivalry and hatred. I don't condone out and out hatred, where as rivalry can still produce a fantastic experience. If you think the world tunes into an Old Firm match to see people spitting at each other, fighting with each other, and shouting dogs abuse at each other then you are wrong IMO. Passion can still be generated without hatred.

I disagree, most of the "hardcore" Loyalist/Protestant fans do not put that first, they put Rangers first, it seems that those who dislike that aspect in general, cant seem to understand that.

I think you are trying to sidestep your original contradiction. You said Rangers were not founded on religious or political ideals. Yet you want the club to retain and uphold religious and politcal ideals? If however the debate is about the fans, rather than the club, then why should the club retain links to anything.

Also I'm not trying to tell anyone their views are wrong, even though I may think so. I'm simply saying that they have absolutely no valid connection or relevance to Rangers Football Club.

There is no contradiction, we were formed in an area where that was the demographic, I believe the founders were of that persuasion as well. The problem with all this is, nowadays, people look into it too much, try to make links etc that arent there. We were created, and, that was a common value/belief system among those who built the club, and, those who followed it. Over the years, the club celebrated this. Its only since Murray took the helm that it became a problem. 1 man! I dont think anyone said the club should retain and uphold religious and political ideals, what I said, was that they have their place, and, a great number of bears hold this dear, and, makes following the club that bit more special.

I like the last line, "absolutely no valid connection or relevance to Rangers Football Club", could be coming from Murrays mouth about the opinion of the common Rangers fan ;)

For me, that paragraph just sums it up perfectly :praise:

  8. I wouldn't say our support was divided really. Only so much as that some people will songs like TBB while some won't - and i understand both views, and both sets of people believe they are doing whats best for our club. Fair enough a lot of people have different opinions on some of our more controversial songs, but people aren't sheep.

While some people's family history might not share some of our history which is supported by the clubs history (such as serving in the armed forces or member of an orange lodge) i don't know any rangers fans who would try to take that away from them. Generally i think our supports view is very united.

We will always have certain religious and otherwise affiliations at this club - its unavoidable - and in the same way it is impossible in modern Britain not to attract people from other backgrounds. I think the problem is when people start trying to change peoples points of view. Each to their own and all that. I'd never criticise someone for singing Derrys walls, but in the same way i'd never criticise someone for not singing it. I can't expect everyone to feel the same connection with the song and topic

  9. I think, unfortunately, he will revert to type at Parkhead. I think he is gritting his teeth as he watches our attacking play and if he doesn't change things on Sunday he will against Celtic.A real shame if he does because they are a team who are ripe for a tanking with the weakest defensive pairing for years.

Actually, I think we will stay with what is working. But, Wattie will want to play for a draw at the [fill in your derogatory term]dome.

A draw suits us far more than them. But we ought to go for the win. They are there right now, for the taking. Can't give them a sniff.

    T******

  10. I was 131st Stonelaw, Anchor Boys to Company Section Sergeant. Best marcher in my Company!

BB football was great fun, well apart from the red ash!!!

Aw the red ash was a bastard. I'm part of the 195th, always considerded the 131st close rivals :)

That's right! We always comsidered the 195 to be the jakey company from Rutherglen! :P

You all wore the new crap uniforms where we liked to keep it old school with the blazers, White sash and shirt/tie!

Used to be a total grudge match game!

Lol aye man thats right we got modern years before the 131 and went with just shirts n ties. We always saw the 131 as the burnside upper class company, its all very political :P

A lot of my schoolmates were 131, loved the competition. Its a shame the bb has declined so much in recent years
