Bare in mind that even if we do sell them that doesn't mean we will get to buy players with the money!
-
2-0 down, being total out played and out numbered by the Arsenal fans and you could still hear us doing the bouncy! Great showing by the Lads!!
-
Who can see us playing some quality stuff this coming season? I think there is potential there in the team to play good quick passing football. I thought one of the best moves put together today was that counter attack which naismith messed up.
Still good positives in the team, you can't just be looking at the result.
possibly. think pitches like motherwell in january will put paid to that though.
If we take a bucket and spade we should be fine! lol

:davis: :mendes: :thomson:
:novo: :miller:
I'd perhaps like to try this. Give granddad the afternoon off and see how big lee does in centre defence. Or perhaps start with wee Aaron instead of Novo! -
Wattie really has to start using the young lads. If we have no money then they are the future. If Ally is to take over and half the team is about to retire than leave Ally in quite a pickle. Bleed the young guys, we need to build to be "ready for the future" to use the old DM phrase!

After his great start to pre-season, I was quite sad to see Naismith playing as deep at Papac for long periods of that 2nd half
The whole team were playing deep. It was the old camp in our own half & hit on the break tactic & almost payed off once or twice tbh. I thought we only pressed them enough on the ball for a short period though & most of the game just gave them acres of space in comparison to what they were giving us. Good game though & good experience for Naisy.
I agree.
I said this at the start of this thread as well.
We NEED to close teams down high up the park. We don't seem interested in closing down anyone until they're 40 yards from our goal.
I think Rangers need to look at Barca for this. They press as soon as the opposition has the ball. Hopefully when we get totally fit this will get better.

Well lets face it. Arsnal are better than us. Naisy was good. I hope he gets a run this year. If Wattie is going to play the 4-5-1/ 4-3-3 he would be good on the left or the right. Probably better on the left as Papac wont overlap while Davis would be good on the right as Whittaker/ broadfoot will!
-
leave papac alone!
its mcgregor to blame, first goal you can stretch mate. second goal didnt come out kick enough. a player like eduardo who has had horrible injuries would duck out of the challenge.
but credit when its due, arsenal are probably the top footballing side in the world
No it's folk like you that bug me hero-worshipping players take the blue specs off!
Papac canny stop crosses coming into the box and will be found out in Europe as will Weir, McCulloch, ect.
Thats a good point. The number of times Rangers (esp Papac) make little or no attempt to stop a cross coming in! He always stands at least 8 yards from the crosser. He should get a little closer and try to block the ball. He let a few come in against PSG yesterday too!
-
calm it lads, we're talking about one of 'the big four' here. for 80 minutes we did ok. its a meaningless pre-season tourney. at least we got a taste of what the sharp end of europe will throw at us and we'll come prepared next timd.
True. I'm sure they will be in the last 8 if not 4 of the champions league!

Can't believe Boyd or Alexander didn't get the 2nd half.
I think Wattie said Alexander would play one game and McGregor the other. Agree about boyd though.
-
Everytime we wanted to get the ball forward, we went over the top. Rarely worked out, with the players we have youd think theyd be smart enough to change it up. Papac and Whittaker were the worst for this. Keep the fucking Ball !
The problem with Whittaker is the fact that he does pick the wrong option too many times. Papac doesn't venture forward that much but when he does he looks okay. I suppose thats the problem with Papac being a centre back not a left back!

we woz crap. as usual
Not really constructive mate!!
-
Overall,
MacGregor - Not his best game. One good save but he should have done better for at least one of the goals.
Whittaker - Really showed up at times. Needs to concentrate on making the right choice with his passing.
Boogie - 1 real mistake cost us a goal. Other than that he played well.
Weir - REALLY showing his age. Took to long on more than 1 occasion.
Papac - Solid without being spectacular (i.e. he played like he normal does, dependable)
Davis - tried really hard (as usual) Industrious in midfield.
Mendez - Did some good stuff but if we are always relying on him he will struggle and disappear in games.
Naysmith - Decent game. He might be a good shout for the rest of the season.
DMB - Transfer him to whomever will take him!
Lafferty - Really lacked support. IMO not mobile enough/doesn't have enough guile to play up front by himself.
Miller - Came on and played well. Should have scored but that has always been kennys problem.
Novo - Played really well. Worked hard and ran his heart out! (it would be a crime to sell/let him go)
McCulloch - Well he kicked people! So nothing new there. He kept the ball moving and tried to break things up. Did okay IMO.
We were all at sea in the first half (especially the frist 20 minutes) I'd like to think that this would show wattie and ally the gaps in the squad we need to fill. Perhaps Wattie could persuade SDM to allow us a couple of bosmans. Better second half. A lot of positive to take out of this. Hopefully we will be more prepared by the time we meet Man City.

Weir hasn't got the pace to handle teams like this. Must sign a cb.
We play in the SPL. We dont need to play teams of Arsenal's caliber every week.
However, if we want to be a good (if not great) team we must surely show more ambition than to be just good enough for the SLP?
-
Miller should have scored (nothin new there) lol

Agreed. Fantastic player who signed for us 10 years to late!
-
We really need to sort out Weir and Whitaker. They are both diddies. I agree that Fabrigas is worth more than our entire team but we do look out of our depth. Plenty of positive to take from the second half though!!
-
Changes at half time!! F*ck sake, Wattie feeling okay? lol
-
Naysmith is playing okay. We really need to get DMB off. He's f*ckin useless. Put wee Aaron on or even Miller wide. Would like to see Boyd too! He cant play worse than Lafferty!!
-
McGregor - should have saved the first goal.
Weir - Should retire
DMB - forgot he was on the pitch. Seriously, all he does is get the ball and fall down!
Naysmith - tried hard.
Davis - some good touches.
Mendez - Needs to get in the game
Lafferty - needs more help.
Just imagine if it happened

That would be amazing! Sadly it wont happen as "them" will get pumped out of the Europa League and we will be going into the last 16!!
