  1. Went through qualifying at all three to get there, other than that his he's been meh all year. He's always been a big game player though, always raised it for the masters and slams.
  2. The really annoying this here is, if he does end up coming through this, it's not good for his chances of winning the whole thing.
  3. He's really not all that, there's a reason he's been playing challengers the whole year. Murray has, for some reason, started playing really passive, 6ft behind the baseline tennis.
  4. Murray in trouble here. Looks a different player from Rome and Madrid. Usual moaning to box antics are back.
  5. Be 2017 unless the French sort their scheduling out. Realistically though very difficult to say if it keeps raining. Some of today's matches have already been postponed.
  6. Federer has officially withdrawn from the French Open, multiple sources reporting. First time he's missed a Grand Slam this century. 65 slams in a row.
  7. Meh, he knows he has Nishikori in his pocket really though. Besides the applauding thing, I don't really see any excuse for some of his antics, the timeouts etc. What he did in the US Open Final vs. Andy in 2012 was indefensible. Medical time out at at 5-2 down in the fifth with Andy about to serve for the championship, then sarcastically gesturing to the crowd and swearing at them in Serbian. Put it this way, there was a reason half the ATP wanted to kick his arse when back in his first years on tour.
  8. I think this is only likely to grow tbh. Fed hasn't had much court time and is still nursing injury. Murray could build a nice cushion above him with a good performance at the French. I don't see Fed being up to much there, he may well struggle to make the second week.
  9. Difference between Murray and Novak is Murray is raging 100% of the time, whereas Novak does this gentleman act when he's winning (applauding opponent etc). When he's under pressure you see the dislikable attitude and behavior of the 'old Novak' of years ago return though.
  10. Nadal pushing Djokovic here, Novak showing signs of the crowd getting under his skin. Says a lot about how dislikable the guy was when he first came on tour, even now when he's dominant the crow are against him a lot of the time.
  11. Rafa's opinion on all this http://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/35770949 A surprisingly open interview by his standards. He's usually a "holds his cards close to his chest" kind of guy.
  12. The more you read into the Sharapova case the more it points to delibrate use of the drug to cheat. I'm quoting someone (who seems to know their shit medically) who posted this on another forum: "Something doesn't add up here. Meldonium is a substance used for those with chronic heart failure, angina, and ischemic stroke, and it has only been trialled in humans for that purpose. While animal models have demonstrated some anti-arrhythmic affects and anti-diabetic effects, it would hardly be used as a first line even if Maria did have arrhythmia. Neither does Maria fit the profile for a person with chronic heart failure or angina. If she had type 1 diabetes (type 2 unlikely given she is an athlete), that would be managed with insulin, not this drug which is nowhere near FDA approved and has not even been trialed in humans for that purpose. The drug has been shown to improve exercise tolerance in patients with angina, which is the only tangible benefit I could imagine would be conferred on an athlete." Add to this that the company that manufactures the drug said normal course of treatment is 4-6 weeks, not 10 years, it's starting to look like she took it delibarately.
  13. Can't stand seeing the smug Serbian prick win. Hope the scrawny "gluten-free" fucker chokes at the French again. As for Andy, he needs to hire someone to fucking fix his forehand, a sports psychologist, and Mauresmo needs to be told to fuck off cause he's never winning another slam till she's long gone. What the fuck has has she actually done since being hired? I can't think of a single thing she has improved in Murray's game other than he's talking to his box and muttering to himself like he was pre-Lendl.
  14. I would have said Murray had some sort of shot against Novak, but after playing for 4 hours, and seeing how Novak dismantled Federer, adding to how Murray has performed v Novak recently.... I really don't see how he can beat Novak, he's just too good.Too solid in every department.
  15. Murray should beg Lendl to come back and Mauresmo should gtf. She brings nothing to his game.
  16. Djokovic basically won the 4th set because of a netcord. Lucky bastard.
  17. You'd imagine the closing of the roof would actually hurt Fed here, it slows the court up. And seeing as the courts in Oz are already pretty slow, you'd think it would help Novak.
  18. I will always remember the absolute twattery he pulled against Murray in the 2012 USO Final. Medical timeout at 5-2 down in the 5th with Murray serving for the Championship.
  19. I'm amazed Fed didn't leave the court after the second set. Should have left Novak to sit in his chair for a bit. See if he cools off.
  20. He needs to at least take some pace off the ball though. Hitting everything as if he's trying to hit winners is only playing into Novak's hands. Fed hasn't got Stan levels of power where he can hit clean through Novak's defenses.
  21. Fed's game is playing into Novak's hands at the minute. Trying to hit clean winners before the rally gets to 5 shots is only going to put more pressure on yourself. Wilander said it a few days ago, Fed needs to back his defensive skills more.
  22. Problem with Fed is if you see him going a set down he isn't going to win. He can't overpower Novak like Stan can.
  23. What I like about the Federer/Djokovic rivalry is you can tell they don't like each other.
  24. Raonic will be very dangerous. Won 3 of the 6 matches he's played against Andy and he's improved again this year. Hope Murray takes him to the cleaners though, his game is boring as fuck. Serve, serve, serve.
  25. True, similar to the Anderson match at Wimbledon last year. He looked vulnerable in that one match, but outside of that he looked imperious.
