Part of the job of signing a player is to assess how quickly they will fit in and contribute, as well as many other factors. It isn’t just “is he a good player”. I think we’ve messed up with this one. I hope I’m wrong but I think something is amiss. I saw rumours of homesickness on here, but that might be bullshit.

Bassey is playing a different role tonight, but if he was still at us he’d give us the physical presence in defence we are clearly missing. We also miss his runs down the wing. The two players we bought to replace him have barely played any minutes at all. Absolutely shocking spending. One of them has had an ill partner for a while supposedly, plus we seemingly overpaid for him. The left back may be a great player but he looks like he will struggle in Scotland. Surely there must have been 2 players for the same price that would come in and do a job immediately.
