How can you say we were wrong for using something that is legal and above board? If HMRC had known their own frign tax law they would never have challenged this (as it stands) They gave us a tax bill that the courts have shown as false (perhaps even fraudulent) As I said above we should have had HMRC and our lawyers round for tea and explained what we were doing and why it was perfectly legal. Not doing this is about the size of the error (as it stands) HMRC should not have challenged us. They should have gone and got there fact straight before putting us through this. What part of they should know the law before chasing people they say are breaking it is hard to understand?

Of course Murray was wrong to use the EBTs, they resulted in us being put down here. Do you think all the other clubs jsut love paying tax and this is why they didnt use them? Where he went wrong was not getting the use cleared before doing so or at least at year one of using the scheme. As it stands HMRC are guilty of not understanding tax law.....as it stands the chased us for money we didnt owe them.They should have made no such claim without being sure of the facts.....
