  1. Warburton was smart in the pre-season by doing a lot of closed door scrimmages/matches so that the first time opponents saw us tactically was during the season. Now that they have had a first look, most (if not all) of the teams have made adjustments tactically and have settled into a very similar plan of sitting back behind the ball and then breaking out on the counter when Tav/Wallace bomb forward too far. They have made other adjustments/observations as well.

The key is to tweak things tactically and make a few new additions in January to given them something different the third time around. This will happen.

  2. Without doubt there is some deserved criticism of recent performances and I think everyone is aware it's a brand new team with only a couple of month experience.

I didn't really hear any "moany bastards" near me yesterday but I actually jamp up and shouted "fkin useless c*nts" when they scored their second. It's not like me as I'm usually pretty quiet at most games but you could see that goal coming. There was a calamitous period when in defence we kept giving the ball to them. MW also mentioned the slack passing.

I also didn't hear anyone shouting "lump it up the park". What supporters are seeing is a lot of possession in the final third with very little cutting edge, there's a predictability about it at the moment which I think is just down to a patch of bad form.

MW will know that and the team will know it but I think it's fair for supporters at the game to criticize

The results this season are extremely good. Right now, MW cannot do too much to vary the personnel because the first team is rather lean. Why not give him (And the team) some time to continue to jell and allow MW to address the roster in January before folks start to act pedantic in the stands? The record this season has been extremely good. Teams have adjusted after their first time getting spanked and its up to MW to bring in a few different players to tweak things to give a few different looks the third time around.

  3. Direct football and possession football doesn't have to be mutually exclusive, despite opinions on here.

It's a balance. Relying on purely direct football or purely possession football are as bad as each other. It makes teams predictable and easier to stifle.

A big man up front for our attacking players to run off will improve our team. Giving defences something else to think about, like crosses into the box as well as being able to play through teams will give us an extra dynamic. Forcing teams to not just put 10 behind the ball in the width of the box.

I agree......as well as a few more speed players on the flanks that can beat their defender to the flag and deliver a cross into the 6-yard box area.... That is not playing direct at all.

  4. Variety is the spice of life.

We don't need to change that much, but we do need to mix it up at times with a couple of long range drives here, a quick diagonal punt there, and as you say, a cross or two.

Doing that keeps the opposition guessing and prevents them getting into a routine of defending the same style of attacks. We have good players so they should be capable of varied attacks, just needs a change from the top down.

Just a few tweaks and the addition of a few players in January would be good.

  5. This thread is why I don't post here much any more.

No shit. Sure the team needs to be tweaked a bit with a few more personnel in January but I don't understand the complaints about the coaching staff and players on the field this season. Unlike with Ally, there is a light at the end of the tunnel with Warburton and progress continues to be made on the field.

  6. And you have no clue when, if at all, RRL will release any dividends to RFC.

Why is this different? Are dividends from RRL to RFC guaranteed in your mind?

They have a meeting yearly. I believe it is in January.....once audited accounts are completed since they are the basis for the dividend calculation.

Are they guaranteed? No but provided the JV doesn't start to lose money and that erodes the retained earnings it is highly likely since they declared dividends the past two years. However, the Retained Earnings that has been accumulated will be distributed to both SD and RFC at some point. They have declared dividends the past two years and again, I think this year's high profits is the primary reason why this Board paid the loan back...in order to get their 51% of the dividends per share once they are declared. They didn't seem to care about the security or IP at all ....they do know that dividends will be declared in January so they want to have this loan paid back by the end of the month.

  7. But you don't know when? So surely when is irrelevant then? This deal proposes £5 from every £10 spent, now my maths ain't great but that looks a better deal. Right?

It also proposes that the club will get that during a share issue. We know from John Gilligan that a share issue is a medium to long term deal due to current legal issues....so, the club gets 0 cash (dividends to be fair) from every 10 quid spent. The money sits in an RST account...hopefully with all taxes paid on it.
