He's not shite, and still scores some good goals, but the things that made him so potent and a really exciting player to watch are largely gone/faded.
I think if you'd never seen him before this season, you'd think he was a very capable EPL striker - unfortunately most people remember just how unbelievably good he was circa 2008/9 and judge him compared to that.
-
Ive got one that must be about 20 years old as my old man bought it for me at my first game - falling apart a bit now and think it's got a big greasy pie stain on it. All adds to the character...
-
That makes a bit more sense
-
Unless they change how teams go through, it wouldn't really make sense.
20 teams go through, 10 games, then 10 teams go through, 5 games, then 5 teams go through, you've got one left over...
Just fucks it up, really.
Hes saying 2 teams qualify from groups of 5 instead of 4, so nothing changes.
-
Increasing the number of teams just dilutes the achievement of reaching the finals IMO. Haven't read the article fully, where does he want these 8 extra places to come from?
EDIT - Just read up on it, he wants more teams from Africa and Asia, plus 1 more European place. Scotland still wouldn't qualify.
-
What dates did the season run then? I was only 7 so don't really remember, but the commentator said there McCoist had 29 goals in October?
-
When are these being played?

The championship will be more of the same.
Hearts and or whoever else get booted out the league will lose nearly all of their 1st team players and be relying on youth and other lower league players.
We will no doubt strengthen again and should walk it.
Agree overall, but with bigger teams and possibly more 'hate filled' atmospheres at the likes of Hearts, and potentially St Mirren, coupled with reasonably big teams like Dundee and Raith then it'll be another step up and a test of how far we've come.
-
Im hoping St Mirren and Hearts go down.
It would make the 1st division by far the most interesting league in Scotland next year although id think we would still run away with it but not as easy as this year.
Just had a look at the divisions above us to see what we could be looking at - the championship could be very competitive and stand as a good 'buffer' before we hit the big time again.
-
Yip, winning leagues in a similar fashion feels better too!

Think so, been getting the shit ripped out of me by some people on here for it as well haha.
H8rs be H8in
Never a dull moment with Wigan!

GREAT GOAL.
Nick Powell. Fantastic finish after a great run.
Delighted Latic right here.
Are we the only 2 Wigan supporters on here?
-
WOOOO! Nick Powell has the potential to be a very good player, hopefully this loan spell helps him develop into a proper contender for Man U.

Really dislike McLean as well. Just needed a decent striker signed who isn't 32 years old! Holt will score goals, Fortune I've always thought of as useless but he can produce the spectacular once in a hundred times, but they really needed a younger striker. If they had signed Rhodes, I'd have been delighted, but just a natural goalscorer would have helped.

McLean is just a one trick pony with almost zero tactical awareness; he also seems like a complete fucktard. Yeah I agree on your points about the strikers, I actually think Fortune has all the physical/technical attributes to be a good 'hold the ball and lay off' centre forward, but he doesnt have the brains!
I think Wigan will finish outside the play offs this year but that's no disaster - consolodation, a decent cup run and builing for the future would be great. Plus Wigan fans idolise Jig so they're no bad
-
Kone should have stayed, doubt he'll get much of a look in with Lukaku's arrival
His bank balance will look alot better though
-
I really really wish Coyle hadn't signed McLean. Worst Cunt.

Really mate? I thought Ramis was excellent last year at the beginning. Looked more like a mid-table top flight team as opposed to a team who'd get relegated by the end of the year. Ramis' injury really didn't help much.
I wouldn't wish having Gary Caldwell in the defence of any team, except for Celtic!
Aye, I mean Mallorca have pretty much always been a club that struggled to keep afloat and sought to buy players in cheap and sell them at a profit (Eto'o, Ibagaza, Luque etc) but somehow survived. Without a Leader at the back we struggled majorly tail end of last season. That and Hamed was our main goal threat!
I fucking hate Gary Caldwell, he has no redeeming features.

Wigan just don't have a strong backline, and don't have a finish to the nice pieces of play they create. They play some good stuff and are entertaining to watch, but the attempt at a finish is, more often than not, very poor, and of course their defence really is shaky. Need Ivan Ramis back asap.
Mallorca are my team in Spain, no coincidence we got relegated the season Ramis left.
-
Fucking cock shit. Damn defence.
-
That end at the DW is normally filled with away fans, looks hilarious the maribor fans all cuddled together
Should be about 5-0 now, Beuasejour is a delight to watch.
-
Yeah he's a good midfield player, not doing too bad. Don't know who else Wigan would play up top at the minute! Good first half anyway. Also delighted to see Martinez there. Good man.
Martinez will always be a hero, glad to see him come back to watch a game he helped make possible, Why is Coyle cutting about in shorts and football socks pulled right up? Fuckin Boke inducing! True man, I was looking at the squad and short of taking an academy player into the line up there are very few options for CF. The lad Dicko is physical but seems so raw at the minute!
-
Grant Holt and Marc-Antoine Fortune are both injured, and Wigan have no other forwards!
Still, Wigan have played well, Beausejour has been great. This team should be doing a better job in the Championship.
Aye I know, but I always thought Powell was more of a 'Gerrard Type' driving midfielder rather than an Attacking one that could play as a CF. Playing some lovely stuff at the minute anyway, think it will take Coyle a while to get his best team sorted, playing the Euro games will inhibit them I think.

If true that's a shocking stat! Conversely, 2 of Sunderland's last 3 EPL wins have come against Newcastle
