  1. The thing that gets me is if you speak to any Timmy or lurk on any of their sites, you will see the same arguments about the same press only they are all "hvn" orientated. Both sides cant be right. I personally dont think there is any media bias at all other than each particular journo will write it with a slant to favour their team. **(Graham Spiers is completely excluded from the last sentence) From the journos i know or know of, i would say its very evenly matched on the OF front.

    Daily Ranger

    Daily Rhebel

    Hunday Mail

    Sunday Hail Hail

    The Scottish h**

    The Irish Sun

    Evening Ranger

    Evening Tims

Guys on here are talking about the slant the papers are giving this attack on Lennon whilst in Timland they are saying everyone should complain to the Press Commission for taking the piss out of it by making up cartoons of Lennon.

I will leave you with this. This article appeared in the Record the other day on Roly Poly and if you read it, there is actually a coded message from the journalist. If ever there was proof the Record was Celtic orientated this is it :craphead:

"Former Poland keeper Jan TomaszewskI Last night urged fans and the media tO get off Artur Boruc's back.

The Celtic No.1's recent off-field antics haVE been well doCumEnted and range from drinking binges on internationaL duTy to reported marriage diffICultIes.

He was fined A whopping £50,000 by his club for incidents in RotTErdam duRing the pre-seAsoN Feyenoord Jubilee tournament and has been axed from Poland's World Cup Group gamEs with Poland on SatuRday and WedneSday."

    :mutley:

Lets leave the paranoia rubbish to that lot (tu)

  2. I personally think it is far too early to judge the guy on the basis he has only started something like 14 games for us. Im pretty sure he is a good player but he needs and there is a place out on the left crying out for the final piece of the jigsaw. I would personally love to see Aaron given a chance as from what i have seen so far and from what i have read, it could be firghtening if you add him to Sundays mix.

My main gripe with Beasley is that he falls over too easy. Always looking for fouls.

PS - I sat and slated him to Gary McCallister in our hotel in Lyon in the afternoon of the match. By christ, did he ram ma words down ma throat that night :mutley:

    Beasley looking for fouls?

Surely not the same one I've been watching for years!

His attitude is spot on, given how much he gets kicked.

I kinda get the feeling that no matter what anyone says about him Papa, you are still gonna say he is the best player at Rangers behind Pedro. :craphead:

PS - have you seen his pissing in the dugout video

  4. Dunno what your smokin sunshine, but the day that beasley is one of the best players at ibrox is the day that we are truly fucked!

I can think of at least 10 players in the squad better than him. He needs to prove himself properly - not fuck around with another 12 months on and off the physio table.

Tell me 10 players that are better than Beasley at Ibrox.

    Go on.

    mcgregor

    ferguson

    novo

    bougherra

    davies

    mendes

    hemdani

    thomson

    miller

    burke (yes, burke!)

wasn't so difficult eh? did that in 9.72 seconds!

Sorry you lost your credibility at Burke Ally. I dont rate Beasley as i think he is far too lightweight but he IS better than Burke for goodness sake. Burke would be lucky to get in Mortons first team (tu)

  5. yeah someone posted it about how easy Celtic's games were after Europe, we had 5 games away after matches if we had qualified and they had 5 at home  think it was youllneverwinaway

    Hamilton (h)

    Hibs (h)

    Motherwell (h)

And here is the ones we should have had

    United (h)

    St Mirren (a)

    Accies (a)

    Killie (a)

    Hearts (a)

    United (a)

    :craphead:

As for Beasley. He may fall over a few times. <_<

  6. Thanks for the replies guys.

I have to be honest and say any publicity on the RST as far as im concerned has been in the main, negative. By potentially opening the AGM up to non-members it would be an ideal opportunity for us to see the whole organisation rather than what seems like the views of a chosen few.

I have absolutely no doubt there is good work going on, but as it stands im blind to it. If i e-mailed a few questions in, my gut feeling is that i would get stock responses from one person designated to deal with it. Ive found throughout my life that the strongest organisations and groups are groups where you have people who challenge the ideals of the norm and my view, FROM THE OUTSIDE, is that this does not happen in the RST.

Anyway, it was just an idea for you to consider and again cheers for the replies. (tu)

  7. Just curious to see if any members of the RST think it would be a good idea to open up the AGM to a pre-determined amount of non-members for constructive chat on the issues being raised.

    The Benefits

    a) Its sometimes better to have a counter point to ensure its not just a back-slapping exercise.

    b) Increases the profile of the RST with non-members for allowing access to and having discussion with RST dissenters(I use that word loosely as i cant think of the word i mean)

    c) If the non-members like what they see then, increased membership for RST.

Interested in hearing your views guys...

  8. Not sure when it changed over but my old man told me before he died that when he was a regular in the late 60's, early 70's Celtic were knwn as the h*** and that he could remember standing at the Piggery singing "Go home ya h***" to the Celtic fans.

He was never sure of the origin or when it changed though.

My theory is that, as has been pointed out, the word h** has long been connected to the Germans during the war and on the basis of the Irish Republican support of the Germans during the war, both active and inactive, its entirely possible the word h** was given to the Tims as a slant on their Irish status. As far as when it changed to us, my best guess would be during the period when "some" of our supporters were heavily connected to gangs commonly known as "Nazi" groups and its just stuck from there. All of this last paragraph is pure supposition on my part though (tu)

  9. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaCc5xEGCAc

Can anyone tell me why he was pointing to the badge and waving his finger, 2mins 29secs???

Pretty sure that was the season he had broke his leg and when he came back(after a second spell following his overhead kick winner at CP in the Cup final) , he wasnt the sharpest and the enclosure had a few mumbles, though nothing of note.

Think he was just pointing out to remember he was a True Blue and to get behind him (tu)

  10. YNWA. I've been arguing with a fellow bear about whether or not you are one of us. I'm starting to side with the other guy now.

Stick to your guns and gut feeling WVB. Means you will end up right (tu)

I would have hoped my general posting and knowledge on other issues other than "US V THEM" would confirm this. I have stated from the outset that i call a "spade a spade" mate. Im just not as high up on the scale of "fundamentalism" as others though i dont use that word to mock or anything, just cant think of an alternative.

  11. And of course all the bears were spoiling for a fight after that game

Thats silly though. The huge majority of bears were celebrating but dont think for a minute there isnt a fair few who would take a pop at him given the chance. Add to that all day drinking and celebrating and it is conceivable for goodness sake.

There was sober people on here saying they would have smacked him as well (tu)

PS - just to be clear. This is NOT a defence of Lennon. Its simply that we dont know the facts on it and if the facts turn out it was an UNPROVOKED attack, then i for one will CONDEMN anyone who done it. Bear or No Bear (tu)

Would him spitting on a Rangers scarf and saying DOBs not count as provication? Indeed you would think someone with that kind of form would stay off the streets after an OF game

Again without sticking up for him, im sure there is not a person on this board who hasnt in the heat of the moment said or called someone a Fen**n Bassa. I know i have on many an occassion. Doesnt mean i deserved to be slapped about by 2 guys(if there was no direct provocation on my part in that incident)

  12. I have pointed out on many occassions that in a country which is only 15% RC, you would expect each organisation/employer to have approximately 1.5 RC for every 10 non RC. For Rangers to in the main have 0 means there is a slight discrimination record. For Celtic in the main to have 9 or 10 is a different story altogether.

I personally put it down to peer pressure and different social values back in the day, but for every 1.5 complaints people can throw towards us on this issue, by rights, there shoud be 7.5 complaints being thrown back in their face (tu)

'Peer pressure and social values', one way to put it.

Bottom line is given the pressure on any promising rc to sign for them, in many, possibly most, team selections, 0 rcs = 0 discrimination.

I do think there was discrimination Manticore but not in the manner that we would describe discrimination nowadays. Irrespective of the rights and wrongs and the was and wasnts, it cannot be overlooked that the amount of RC players playing for Celtic back in the day is BY FAR more out of line with Scottish society than the amount of RC players we had.

Its a complex argument but one you will never hear in the battle of trying to taint only one club for this "crime"

  13. I remember Barry getting absolutley hounded by the media for a similar incident, so where's the damnation of Lennon?

    Exactly.

There is no level playing field, some of us have been banging on about it for years.

And im sure you realise that Timmy bang on about the same thing as well only in reverse. I sometimes wonder who actually buys the rags because:

Gers fans think they are biased toward the Tims and dont buy them

Tims think they are biased towards us and dont buy them

all non Old Firm think they are bias towards the Old firm and dont buy them.

They media must do some fecking job to be hated and biased against every chunt in Scottish Football and yet still live on their sales. :craphead:

  14. And of course all the bears were spoiling for a fight after that game

Thats silly though. The huge majority of bears were celebrating but dont think for a minute there isnt a fair few who would take a pop at him given the chance. Add to that all day drinking and celebrating and it is conceivable for goodness sake.

  15. YNWA, based on what we all know about Lennon, what do you think is more likely?

Do you REALLY think he went out for a quiet drink in one of Glasgow's nightlife hotspots, hours after an OF thumping?

C'mon now, don't be so PC.

I know 2 people who actually know Lennon and have drank with on many an occassion. One is in the Lodge and says Lennon is a great guy. The other one is a Tim and says Lennon is "up himself"

Its a strange world all right ?

  16. I have pointed out on many occassions that in a country which is only 15% RC, you would expect each organisation/employer to have approximately 1.5 RC for every 10 non RC. 17. I know its unlikely i will get anyone to agree on this but as much as i get annoyed with Timmy trying to blame all of this on Rangers fans without know any of the facts, i get equally annoyed that Gers fans are blaming Lennon without any evidence.

Lets be brutally honest for a minute here. It is entirely possible that two drunken Bears gave Lennon a few smacks just for being Lennon. Equally it is entirely possible that Lennon would be involved in exchanges of words.

There is a comparison with Novo to be made on this because like Lennon with us, he rubs it in big style when playing and you can see hates the Tims. You are hardly likely to see Sasa Papac, Brahim Hemdani, Mark Wilson or Lee Naylor on the wrong end of this stuff because put simply, they do their job and leave the ground without giving it any jip.

I find it hypocritical that as supporters we can be seen to want to buy a couple of guys a pint for blootering Lennon yet cry "foul" when it is suggested that somebody would want to slap Novo.

Blue Stars Bearette - Good post (tu)
