It really is a shame this is what we think of a club legend now, had he just realised his time was up and to leave without taking any further money we'd have patted him on the back saying you stuck with us through the bad times and you tried but in the end it just didn't work out.....give our love to Sue Barker.
The trouble is I don't see an amicable split now and I suspect I'm not alone on this.
At least we can still have a laugh every now and then.....even if it is at our own expense.

For me though, in regards to Law, Clark and DdB these guys in particular had one good season, IMO. Temps is just inconsistent. Always has been, always will be. Boyd is an enigma, people cite how many goals he got last season, but how many chances and one on ones has he missed this season? He's an enigma atm.
True, one good season doesn't make a good player however I'd say the level they are all performing this year would suggest they have regressed somewhat.
Totally agree about Boyd though, I don't think I can blame the management for his inability to finish off the one on ones that he would have done in his sleep in previous years. His contribution in his first stint was always questionable but not his ability to finish in or around the box but this season its been a totally different story. As with all strikers confidence plays a huge part in this and a good manager will be able to instill some confidence in a player but they have to be able to read the man to know whether they need an arm around the shoulder, a stern talking to, one to one extra training or being dropped etc.
My problem is that I feel the current squad has become overly complacent both in terms of getting results because they play for Rangers but also with regards to being selected. There is no fear from the likes of Law or Black that if they play poorly they won't see the first team for a few weeks until they show in traning they are up for the challenge. So to them its acceptable that they play this way and playing them further reinforcing the poor attitude.
I've said before if the likes of Black got dropped for a Hutton or a Crawford for a few weeks that it would show whether they were up to playing for Rangers or not. Now in Black's case I think he would either spit the dummy out or would just take his wages happily, however perhaps Law would show more desire and determination. As an earlier post stated the players keep coming out to the media saying a performance was unacceptable and we'll turn it around, they might win a game or two before the next poor results. I really think we need a big shake up with regards to formation, team selection, playing approach, training regimes and man management. I feel this can only come from McCoist no longer being in charge.

The players cant be proud of the way they have performed either, This squads spent too much time running stories about how this defeat will motivate them but it never does.
Spot on, countless times its all talk as if its part of the job to appease the masses.
Don't get me wrong I know the players have been appalling however I still don't think the players are the ones who decide the type of football to play. In fairness the club is rotten t the moment from the board all the way to the pitch. No leadership on or off the pitch and that has to change.

I don't think you can call it anti-Ally since I my doubts about his abilities as far back as Smith giving the Leage Cup team selections to McCoist.
Edit: Just for info I grew up in the nineties and idolised McCoist even more so than Laudrup, Gazza, Albertz etc. The one thing that always struck me about McCoist was that he was always too pally to be a manager and would lack the ability to give the guys a kick up the arse when required (his statement about not being in the dressing room much just backs this up its like leaving a classroom full of kids unattended....you think they will carry on working?). As I say I idolised McCoist but never thought he'd be a good manager. I wanted change since the start of last season but his recent behaviour has led to me having an agenda with the man as well as the manager.
Anyway, back to my point about the players who were a success previously:
Boyd - 22 goals in 37 games for Kilmarnock last season, recalled to Scotland squad and player of the year nomination
Law - Named in SPL team of the year 2012-13, March player of the month although one of the better players signed by McCoist he struggles to maintain his form.
Templeton - Played very well in Division 3 and then has fallen out of favour. Any appearances are fleeting and never manages to perform that well off the bench or from a starting berth. The lad has natural ability so has this just magically disappeared?
Clark - 32 goals in 36 games in his last season with QoS. How could he have been expected to continue to progress without playing. Now he is sidelined this year behind Boyd, Miller and Daly.
Shiels - Nominated for 2011-12 player of the year and won the leageu cup with Kilmarnock, scoring 13 goals in 35 games in the process. Started off brightly in Division 3 but again now seems disillusioned when played and always played out of position.
We could look at others like Miller who had been successful but probably a comination of his age and the management now struggles to perform.
Granted there were a few good signings however just look at the decline of someone like Lee Wallace.

I'm still an avid fan of the football manager games and recently bought the latest instalment.
I decided to start as an unemployed manager to see where I could get a job but whilst this was taking place I was watching Rangers progress in the championship and all I can say is that the game was scarily close to the situation we find ourselves in.
Rangers were 6 points behind hearts by the turn of the year and Walter smith backs mccoist. Pressure was mounting before a 3-0 home defeat to Livingston spelled the end of his reign in March 2015......he was sacked of course, he wanted his money.
The two things that stand out for me as being different was Rangers actually played youth players and then mccoists replacement was a bit out of left field....Jimmy Nichol!
Not expecting a debate or anything just thought it was fitting that even a computer game that has mccoists tactical knowledge as 3/20 is quite accurate in how the season played out.

Like when most clubs change manager mid season. You'll see an invigoration in the players for the first couple weeks or so, but any flaws will always come back to focus sooner or later.
It depends where the flaws are. Given the players had all been successful at previous clubs I'd say the buck stops with the management therefore as long as the right appointment is made and they change things around you will see a noticeable and prolonged difference.

I think you can see people are demoralised. Get a new manager in charge who is hands on and not in the dressing room once in a couple of weeks and I believe the monotony of the current regime will disappear pretty quickly.
The players at the moment can probably predict the line ups themselves and know every day at training is the same. Whoever is in charge needs to remind the players their contract is up at the end of the year and there is no guarantee they will get a renewal. I think under mccoist most players assume they'll stay on.......jobs for the boys and all that crap.
The sooner those 3 are as far away from the team as possible the better.
Furthermore Ibrox will be buzzing with anticipation and optimism as long as the appointment is the right one, something which has been sorely lacking for years.

Firstly we don't have money to survive to the end of the season without investment of some kind and secondly but more importantly why on earth would we let a manager who is woefully incompetent and leaving in less than 12 months spend any money on new signings.
As stated by another poster its a case of each side playing games to score points but the trouble is everyone knows it and is sick fed up with it.
I hope Lambias is the sort of guy who is straight talking and no nonsense and arranges a pay off asap.

He will obviously be in the running for the job when it comes up, could have said no. But instead said he can't comment on a job when a Manager is already there, especially one whom he is friends with.
McCall answered it by the book. It's a big fat yes from him.
Slightly disappointed he didn't state that the drop in attendance is specifically due to the dire football and disillusionment of McCoist remaining in charge.
I really don't understand why the media don't pick up on McCoists hypocrisy in staying for a payout when he a) has enough in form of wages and shares b) loves the club and wants what is best for it and finally c) has been so hurt by the redundancies that he now threatens even more jobs by not walking away without any compensation.
Contractually he's more than entitled to do this but morally its completely immoral.

Mccoist could have the nou camp full of fans chanting super ally but it still wouldn't change the fact he's way out of his depth, has lost the players and has only one tactic to rely on. He's hopeless and surely knows it but won't go until he gets his money. How can you get behind someone like that who then states he feels for the fans and wants what's best for the club. He's either greedy as we all suspect or he needs a straight jacket.

Does this now finally prove that McCoist is motivated by the money. Strachan and Barry Ferguson have come forward saying if he intends to leave to leave now.
While I don't know if the board offered anything McCoist clearly wants more than what is on the table (or the 100% of what his contract states).
He's lost the fans and the players and now he stays to drive us into the ground because the board can't pay him off..........now is the time Ally, redeem yourself and walk away or forever tarnish your name.

I would agree with this since he has more of a track record than the likes of McCall however it has to be a short term contract, preferrably until the end of this season with extension option should we get up.
I've said on a few other posts I think we've missed our shot at building a new style of football from the bottom up and it may take several years to get to the point where we are stable enough to try it once again.
Due to the size of the club failure is never tolerated but had we played a new style of football with 5/6 young players every game in League Two (Div 3 as it was then) I think there would have been more acceptance because we could appreciate the longer term plan. McCoist never had a long term plan as could be seen by the signings of Daly, Miller, Boyd and the continued use of McCulloch.
Whether Billy Davies would have ideas on the long term future of the squad and football remains to be seen.
Saying all of this I would still like to see us take in applications for the job as I really do feel someone might just surprise us.

I would have taken that in Division 3, maybe even last season. But it's too late now. We had a chance to build a team to a philosophy and Ally and his backroom team have fucked that up well and truly. It's not like we are in the Murray years where people were paid off and we started again. We need someone to get the best out of the players we have.
Sadly I have to agree. The ship has sailed now and its just a case of adjusting over the next 5 years or so to try to develop a new footballing ethos and youth system. 2012 was a golden opportunity and its been wasted and as you say its now a case of making best what you have and we need a manager to do something like Strachan has done with Scotland, same players but bring back the belief and confidence and play a more attractive style of football.

Some people need to be careful what they wish for
I think we need to take stock for a minute with this. Unlike Whyte and Green we actually know a bit more of Ashley. He has done good by Newcastle on the whole and is a successful businessman with actual assets unlike Whyte.
I said at the beginning he saw Rangers as a vehicle for his Sports Direct brand and to be honest I don't have any issue with it. Unlike the others of the past who wanted to take money directly from Rangers via high salaries, bonuses or shares. I suspect Ashley wants a healthy, stable and profitable Rangers to allow us to get on the field success and therefore provide exposure on the European front for the Sports Direct brand.
For me coming in a sacking a number of employees shows to me they actually know what they are doing with numbers and whilst its not the "nice" thing to do its the right thing to do to run this business correctly and try to get it back in the black. Ashley has a track record of doing unpopular things and whilst this is a risk he obviously sees Rangers being of benefit to his brand but only if its kept afloat therefore I highly doubt he'll make any decisions that risk the club further.

No news of these guys resigning therefore I guess they want the full compensation from being sacked rather than doing the honourable thing.
If McCoist isn't taking the team to the next game as well does that mean these two are in charge???
Suppose we can take the pain in the short term as long as we get a positive change.
I am worried about who is going to take over, knee jerk reactions to appoint anyone with a rangers connection is troubling me more than seeing McCoist, McDowall and Durrant take one last game in charge.

i think we need experience through the core but the energy and drive from youth.
The experience would come from Bell, Wallace, zaliukas, law and Miller.
I'd play mcgregor at centre back with sinnamon on the right, the very least it would give foster a reality check. Midfield I'd have law alongside Macleod. Law has been off form but I think getting him to play as the deep lying play maker and letting Macleod get forward would help. Black should be this player but the sooner he leaves the club the better.
I'd then have 2 alternative formations. Standard wide midfielders for which aird and templeeton would do. Then Miller and Clark up top.
The other option for me would be playing inside forwards in the form of airs and McKay, with templeeton in the hole behind Clark. I feel Clark has a lot to offer but needs a decent run as mccoist and co have destroyed the confidence he had during his last season with QoS.
I'd punt Boyd, daly, mcculloch, black, Mohsni, foster, faure, smith

How many years did Stoke play long ball and try to outmuscle their opponents, very little change if that happens apart from his man management, get the feeling he knows how to give players a bollocking.

Whoever is privileged enough to be appointed Manager what happens is we spend the next 2 or 3 seasons rebuilding from near scratch to build a team to win the Championship and who get used to playing at Ibrox (if we can keep Ibrox) in front of a couple of thousand fans every other week until the prospect of winning promotion becomes a serious prospect.
I agree that we need to start again but I think as long as any new manager tries to play good football the crowds will come back regardless of the league. It's the shocking football that has primarily led to the fall in attendances.

And McCall quit when the going got tough( and Rangers wont be a cakewalk by any means) will he have the mental fortitude to ride it out?
A respected and proven manager is required...not necessarily with any links to Rangers.
Isn't one of the biggest problems with McCoist the fact that when the going got tough he's stayed on despite what everyone else can clearly see. McCall left with his dignity intact as he realised he'd done what he could and was no longer capable of matching expectations.
I agree though that the former rangers players should count for nothing, we need applications as you never know who would be interested.
First things first we need the deadwood out, preferably without paying a penny.....fingers crossed.

For me McCoist is showing many poor traits as a man (never mind a manager).
When the second goal went in last night I thought to myself the silver lining might be McCoist actually resigning and not handing in his notice in the post match interview. If he had an interview today he'd probably point out that its only 9 points (never mind its because Hearts game was postponed).
As a manager he is rotten through and through, he blasts the players and then plays the same team, what kind of message does that send to the players that such poor performances don't result in them being dropped....I've said all along even if the youngsters aren't great they will have hunger and determination and getting dropped for an 18 year old might be the kick up the arse these overpaid pansies need.
I know a lot of people say McCoist has been shrewd with the offer of resignation but I think it just simply highlights he's now in this for the money. He's hiding behind being committed to the club but he's committed to his yet to be paid salary regardless of whether its because he's doing the job or he's been booted. QoS taught us a lesson last night and I suspect Hibs will do the same later this month, will McCoist have the brass neck to stay on.......of course he will he has the blinkers on focussing on the money. He's got more than enough to do a Whyte and leave the country if it all goes sour (which it will do if he stays in charge).
Its time for some damage limitation for both the club (that you say you love) and for your own reputation and just leave without taking a single penny more.

One thing they are not doing is stock piling money, they have serious debt. A well organised debt free Rangers will overtake them quickly
Whilst I agree with the last sentence here just exactly how do we get a well organised debt free rangers? Wasn't that the opportunity (rather than punishment) we had in the summer of 2012? A whole string of terrible decisions made since have led to an opportunity that not many clubs will ever get (huge fan base in lower leagues with top facilities to develop talent in house) evaporating and leaving us in much worse a position than before administration kicked in the first time around.
The whole thing is a shambles from the board all the way to the players and it doesn't look like the pantomime is ending any time soon. Every person in a position of power at the club is interested in one thing.....lining their own pockets.
McCoist is just the tip of the iceberg but at least if he goes and we get a good replacement the footballing aspect of the club will recover.

In the heat of the moment after Wednesday I said I wasn't going but I'm going to reconsider it in the morning. There should be wholesale changes after the performance versus Alloa but it's not going to happen.

I like what miller has to say, and in this case he is right the players let the manager down and if I'm honest there's not much else he could have done. No one could forsee the collapse....
However. The board gave the manager money, The manager signed these players. The players are not good enough. The manager is to blame.
Look at hearts, fraction of the wage bill, far better team.
McCoist out.
The one irrefutable piece of evidence that mccoist shoulders a good chunk of the responsibility and therefore the blame is that I doubt the players consistently decide to play the long ball game after game or pick the team amongst themselves. True, the players are sub standard but if we had a manager that I could believe would paint the dressing room walls with rather than joke around with I think we'd see more out of them even playing that long ball pish.
The fact of the matter is mccoist is way out of his depth and I can't see any area of his managerial credentials that are up to scratch.
Time to go Ally before it's too late for the club and also you.
