  1. its great to see him getting somewhere with the first team. I'd still like to see Gallagher get a shot up front, Hardie as well. Sinnamon could also do a job as a right wing back similar to Wallace today.

  2. One good performance and result won't turn the tide. The way the squad have let themselves go is a disgrace. McCall appears to be doing things right but until the season is over we won't know who deserves another chance.

There are some that I clearly wouldn't keep on. Mcculloch, black, Boyd, Miller, mohsni, Daly, foster, smith, Simonsen, Robinson. ill reserve my judgement for a while since my judgement was off today after my knee jerk reaction to mccalls selection that I was sure would see us beaten.

  3. Today showed that we can perform. If we can improve from here towards the end of the season then yes I think we can get promoted.

What will be interesting is how Hibs now react to this defeat (first in 15) it might just rattle them and who knows maybe QoS or Falkirk will apply pressure on us both.

At least I'll be looking forward to the run in now that mccall seems to have got something out of these guys.

I'll be clear though, one win doesn't make up for a season of poor performances. We've got a battle on our hands but at least we know there is still a possibility of these guys performing.

  4. The key thing to note here is clearly mccall is capable of using different formations to give us the best chance of winning on the day. So I don't think 3-5-2 is necessarily what we'll now play every game.

Under McCoist it was the same formation every game probably because he hasn't got a clue, doesn't mean mccall will be the same.

  5. I was hoping that his comments about Rangers needing more leaders was a precursor to dropping Jig, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. If he does get a game, he seems to play best in midfield, but will SM do that?

Unfortunately I read his comments as "lee will play and will be our captain but we need more of HIM".

Had he said "no ones place is safe if they play badly, including the captain, we need a team that has the best chance of winning" then I'd be hopeful of mcculloch dropped.

The trouble is there are not many alternatives unless he is prepared to actually use youth i.e Sinnamon at RB and mcgregor at CB with Halkett. I just feel he doesn't have the balls to drop mcculloch, maybe he holds too much power in the changing room.....not as a captain but as everyone's pal.

  6. I'd be surprised if the likes of Black, Law, Templeton etc could get half the wages elsewhere that they're getting from us

Yeah I love it how it's made out to be some sort of huge personal sacrifice. If we paid them 250 quid a week whilst in division 3 then fine. These players have all been paid way over the average for players of their limited ability. Not one of them has ever merited their salary, their approach to the whole "journey" has been one big piss take. If we had a decent manager who realised what was required then it may have been different but they had the power to change it, at least at a personal level.

The sooner the summer comes the better regardless of division, our wage bill next year will be a fraction of this years and with any luck (or decent scouting and management) we'll have a team full of players worthy of the jersey.

  7. ...that you think would make a difference in this team. Anyone you like from any era.

Flair players and creative talent would be great but I think a quality centre back or midfield stalwart would be what we need right now. So I'd go for Gough or McCall having grown up with the 90s gers.

  8. Bell

    Sinnamon McGregor Moshni Wallace

    Murdoch McCulloch

    Templeton Vuckic Walsh

    Clark

I'd prolly give that a punt. I don't know the first thing about Sinnamon, but fuck it, can't be any worse than the alternatives with Faure being out.

Sinnamon got the assist for the U20s against Killie this week where he darted to the beeline and got the cross in.....that's what you need. It seems he also has played right mid so I think he'll be good going forward. He had played well with Walsh for Scotland U19s against Holland a few months back. Hes worth a go in my opinion, may be a revelation like Walsh.

  9. I know but personally I'd prefer to never see him in a Rangers shirt again. Murdoch should start before him!

There are many players I'd prefer to never see in a Rangers shirt again but sadly unless any manager is willing to replace them with youth I think we'll still see the likes of mcculloch, black, foster, smith, Boyd and Miller getting game time. McCall lacks the balls to drop these guys. Maybe he thinks he can get a response out of them but I'd have played more youth against Alloa after the Livingston game.

  10. I'm getting a bit sick of this negative shit......................no strikers cos we're playing hibs!!!!!

They won't "destroy" us if we're organised and, thanks to wee McCall,we will be.

I'm gonnae hide in a cupboard all day Sunday cos hibs are just sooooooo good...................fuck hibs!

P.S. Stuart McCall won't have written off 2nd place!

Got to agree, McDowall tried to shut up shop against Celtic. It was pitiful, disgraceful and inexcusable. This should never ever happen again.

If we go out with a positive minded and pacy attack I think we can win this. If we go 5-5-0 we nay as well just give up now.

I feel a win here may just get the gears grinding again, Hibs first loss in 15 so they'll struggle after it, if we claim second its a huge psychological boost for the play off. Hibs are in their purple patch now.....we need ours at the end of the season, that's when it counts.

  11. Really disappointed with mcalls press conference. he may have denied the undroppable rumours(he'd deny it even if it was true) but he certainly gave me no reason to think he'll ever drop him.

McCall stated a few weeks back, "Until we find the right formula and we get players who are deserving of the jersey then I will make changes."

I'd really like to know what mcculloch has done to deserve the jersey? On the same token what did lee Robinson do so badly to be dropped? Was Robinson at fault for the goal against Livingston or was it he clowns in front of him?

He's fast losing credibility and if that's the case I'm thankful it's only til the end of the season. Mccall did hint that once he gets a chance to look at the youths he might be giving them a go. By then it may be too late if we keep losing so many goals and ultimately points.

  12. Ability ffs what ability does McCulloch have, zinging 40 yard passes over the park, endless running, the vision to pick out team mates in threatening positions, the drive to take players on from the half way line and play his way into goal scoring positions on the edge of their box. No none of these my friend he cant even marshall his team to keep a 2 goal advantage against part time teams like Alloa so spare me the comparison if thats what you were trying to do with players such as Pirlo.

I think he was implying if a player is good enough to play ahead of younger players the age doesn't matter........however Mcculloch is old and has nothing in his locker to put him anywhere near the starting 11. It's not like he is a fantastic captain who motivates and inspires the team which makes up for the fact that he's past it, he's a terrible captain as well.

I reiterate I don't think McCall will drop him, so if he isn't dropped where can he be that causes the least amount of damage to the team? On the sideline receiving treatment for the full 90 mins as we play with 10 men?

  13. McCall has played mcculloch in the last two games and he has not delivered therefore reading between the lines when McCall says everyone gets a chance, if they don't perform they are dropped and of course no one has a guaranteed place.

If mcculloch starts on Sunday I think McCall will be shown up as full of it. The players will once again believe it's ok to be awful and still get played, as you well know a captain leads by example it's just this is an example of someone who should hang up their boots being the first name on the team sheet.

The OP has a point but only in the sense that if for whatever reason you don't drop him, he can't continue to play in defence.

I know for a fact if I was in charge I'd make an example of mcculloch and drop him in a heartbeat. I'd give the captaincy to Wallace for the remainder of the season and send jmcculloch packing from the club once his contract runs out. He had his time of success and I just can't stand seeing people not knowing when to call it time and taking a huge salary while they do.

I fear McCall will play him whether it's down to perceived lack of options or lack of balls to drop him so if he does play, sit him I front of he back four to simply break up play.

  14. Had McCall been in at the tail end of December this would have made a real difference by this point, sadly I think it's too little too late.

Walsh has been sitting waiting for his chance, who's to say that Sinnamon, Halkett, Gallagher and Hardie wouldn't do the same? Would really love to see Boyd and Miller nowhere near the starting line up likewise mcculloch.

  15. Are they off the mark though?Playing at Ibrox is today as intimidating for away players as a trip to East Fife. We have players taking confidence from a home draw with Alloa, Our gates have fallen 50% in the space of 18 months. Not sure if you were on here at the time but I was shouting VERY loudly about how going to D3 would me a terrible mistake for us as a club. I was dead against it from the start and still think fans championing it played straight into the hands of everyone who wants to see us fail. I'm not convinced anything would bring fans back if we were to remain in the Championship and as unpalatable as it may seem, most big clubs have a large number of fans who only really give a shit if you're winning things. Just look at Chelsea and Man City. It's amazing just how many new fans they've acquired since they started winning trophies regularly and spending 100's of millions on players.

I take your point about the fans only being interested when they're winning. I fear we have more amidst our ranks than we initially thought.

I agree we are losing a lot by being in the lower tiers, though much of his was self inflicted by the previous management, but I won't be giving up on long term success if we don't get up. Promotion the year after wont be a certainty. We'll lose a large portion of the squad, which is actually more positive than negative with our current offerings, so it will take time to get a new team to gel. I do feel it's easier to get a brand new squad to play the way the man in charge wants, to train the way he wants, eat correctly etc. the trouble we have had is mccoist and co treated this as a piss take instead of saying we have 3 years to build the solid foundations that the club can look back on and be proud and cite that for its successes on and off the park.

I do hope we achieve promotion but I don't think I'm quite as fearful for the future if we don't. I just don't see a Leeds type situation as even with 25k attendances that still dwarfs the rest of this division and wih the right people calling the shots we can play much better football for a fraction of the cost we have seen over the last 3 years.

Can't help but feel so many people felt we were assured 3 league wins in a row, I was never under that illusion from 3 years ago, maybe that's why I perhaps do t have my doomsday specs on.

  16. If the board show ambition befitting our club. A man who was binned by Bradford and walked out on Motherwell just isn't going to cut it. Signings like those of the last 3 years just won't do. Results like the last 4 years years won't be accepted. The whole club has to up its game and that is up to the board, it's their job to get fans back.

Don't agree that McCall isn't going to cut it. I think he's a decent appointment that the board have made as a last ditch attempt to gain promotion. They have however shown their hand in that if we fail to get up I reckon we'll see a totally different approach in the summer with the who,e team being gutted also.

I can't help but think Cathro will be named as the new coach with a DoF. That's changing wih the times, it's abold move to redefine our style on and off the park. Our approach to developing youth players.

If you get a team that plays great football I don't think it matters if we are in the championship or premiership, the fans will want to see it.

  17. Agree with you on the players and the size of the task however stating Rangers run the risk of becoming just another Scottish club are way off the mark. If that is the case i hate to think of the composition of our fans. Glory hunters who just thought 3 years and 3 lower league wins and we'll be back in the top flight challenging. Sounds awfully like what mccoist May have thought also......naive doesn't come close.

I honestly believe that should we not go up, looks to be the case, that the only thing that will keep attendances up is a new style of attacking, attractive and technical football. This requires a club to change its mentality for the best part of the last 20 or so years (excluding the advocaat years). This will all come down to the appointment of the right man.

Do I think McCall is capable of doing a good job? Yes.

Do I think he is the right man to change the club bottom up? No, it's not enough of a change.

It needs to be someone with new ideas, who can work with youth and who has good contacts.

    Is this Cathro? Perhaps.

I'd always stated I wanted us to take in applications for the job and I still do.

Mccoist blew an opportunity to start afresh and he squandered it in favour of short term gain. If we go up I can't see us revolutionising our approach but we'll be in the top flight. If we fail to go up we cannot afford to waste such an opportunity.
