  1. A good statement but no matter what the rags write about us, some so-called supporters will STILL continue to buy it. It's ludicrous.

The blatant lies after the SC semi-final should have stopped them buying it there and then...it didn't. What a job I had to try and convince someone who should know better, to stop buying it. It should have been easy, but some are creatures of habit and some are as thick as the proverbial two short planks.

A good paper many, many years ago. Now? Let it die!

  2. One of many that aren't good enough for us. He's been with us a long time, gave us some good memories (a few bad ones too tbh) and I wish the lad well. I hope he goes on and has a great career, hopefully earning us a sell on payment in the process. Good luck son.

  3. Easy solution...civil war. Us against the loud mouthed, smelly peados and the many Rangers haters. Destroy them. Re-claim and cleanse the country.

Sometimes there's unavoidable collateral damage, but I'm sure the deodorant manufacturers will survive.

Sounds okay in my head anyway

Or, maybe we could try standing up for ourselves and shoot the Rangers haters down when they come out with their predictable, nonsensical garbage on a daily basis. This riles me more than anything at the club at the moment, even after 'that' defeat. It's went on for so long. We will bounce back eventually, but the slur on our great club has to stop now. I'm sick of this.

Some people love a good moan on this forum calling The board a shambles for lack of stock?....... let's say for example the board ordered an extra 20000 shirts to sell before new contract was signed then we would have plenty in stock right ?..... let's say after doing so SD pulled out the deal at the last minute now we are left with another 20000 taps we canny sell then people would say the board are a shambles not waiting for the deal to be signed ! .....canny win with some folk ffs:duh:

Too right mate. Some people are only happy when they're moaning, if you get my drift. They're dicks, they know they're dicks and presumably they like being dicks.

  5. Ta for the link.

Pedro really ought to stop playing Waghorn as it's virtually an embarrassment for him every time he plays. I KNOW I could be scoring more goals than him from the chances created and I haven't kicked a ball in plenty years. Could he not be better used painting the stadium or suchlike until someone is stupid enough to take him?

Kranjcar is a bit slow as some have stated in previous threads but he's certainly got a great football brain and touch as we know. Some of his passing in last weeks game was sublime, no matter the opposition. Wonderful control over the defence splitting passes.

Having just read about the boy from helsinki who apparently we have already agreed a fee for - has anyone else been impressed by the way we've gone about our business in this window?

The last few seasons, we've been linked to players in the press weeks before there seems to be any progress on a deal, and then missing out on targets publicly for everyone to get their jibes in...

Feels like there's good stuff happening behind the scenes at the moment, on the playing side at least - lets just hope that the players turn out to be better than the shite we've signed the last few years

I'm well pleased with this and with the other stuff that's happening too. How it should be of course.

  7. Good show that. First for a wee while and enjoyed it. Their enthusiasm rubs off on you.

Even Gogzy made an appearance. Apparently he doesn't discuss appearance fees so I'm not sure how much he got for it.

One of the better first posts I've saw on here.?

Agree with all of the above. All helpful feedback and great first post. Thanks for your efforts!

  9. Well pleased with this as this is the sort of calibre a player we need. Plenty of character too and that's got to rub off on the players around him.

It's such a lift after some of the dross we've had to endure in the last few years and other potential signing targets can also take note of our intent, maybe making it a little easier to land them as well. Nice one Pedro!

Sorry if this is a wee bit long but the OP did ask:

The day after the semi versus Bayern, even though I was still at school and had no money, I was determined that I was going to the final come hell or high water.  Time off school was not an issue as by May, the exams were over, my issue was the cash.

My old man said I could go, BUT he wasn't paying for the trip.  So, I created a list of all my 'worldly possessions'; stereo, racing bike, golf clubs etc., put a price on each item and started looking for the best way to get them sold quickly.  By my calculations, I'd have enough for the flight, hotel etc.  Nae bother.  My optimism was misplaced but thankfully my dad stumped up the cash so I could join my pals who were all working on the adventure of a lifetime, certainly was for 16 year-olds.

The abiding memory of organizing the trip was being in the travel agents and there were taigs, who had prematurely booked for the European Cup Final in asking for refunds, ah tarriers, the gifts that keep on giving.  :mutley:

Sunday 21st saw us leave from Prestwick, along with thousands of others and headed to Spain.  The amount of booze on the plane was staggering, one guy marching up the aisle during take-off shouting “we’re going up a hill”. Another punter, can’t remember if this was on our journey to Spain or the return flight, Bear going round with a hat taking a collection for the driver (pilot).

Our hotel was right on the beach which was more pebbles than sand, the day we arrived it was raining but we were in the pool having a sash-bash, all the hotels were, already decked out in blue, red and white – it was magical.  IIRC you had to cross a railway line to get to the beach, how some cunt wasn’t killed I’ll never know.

Monday, Tuesday was beer, singing, beer, hanging out at the pool beer and more beer, just a typical day on a Spanish holiday.  Number of Bears walking about like pink lobsters was totally hilarious, getting pished and falling asleep in the Spanish sun is not the smartest thing to do, hence we spent a lot of time in the bar.

Day of the game, we were rounded up on coaches for the trip up to the Nou Camp.  Lots of singing obviously, but me and my mates had a wee pact, no bevvy before the game, we wanted to savour the experience sober.

By the time we arrived in the city there was Rangers supporters everywhere across the width and breadth of Barcelona.  Remember being over-awed by the grand boulevards and buildings and the ever increasing sense of anticipation.  We arrived at the stadium with about four hours to spare.

Recall being on the pitch talking to the players while they were having a walk about, it was incredible.

Actually managed to stay off the booze till just after kick-off when a guy we knew turned up with a massive hold-all full of McEwans Pale Ale (the red cans?).

The feeling when we scored that first goal went in was total elation, the second goal was total jubilation, when we scored our third I actually asked someone if I was dreaming.  The whole game seemed to be over so quickly, even when they pulled back two goals.

When that final whistle blew there was total relief, followed by incredible celebrations (on the pitch of course) and then came the running battles with Franco’s version of Police Scotland, but hey ho we gave as good as we got and in some cases got the better of the bastards who had totally and inexplicitly over-reacted.

Journey back to our resort was a wee bit flat after the police battles, BUT it was a different story back at the hotel, I even remember some guys chucking a bed into the pool.  There was a group of birds from England in our hotel totally bewildered by the goings on but who after a few drinks were sashing it up with us.

Got back to Prestwick in the Friday evening, remember Bears taking swords on the plane, changed days indeed, every other Bear had  either a sombrero or a stuffed donkey. some had both.

Saturday was up to Hampden for Scotland vs England with 132,000 others many of whom had obviously been in Barcelona, some may not even have been home yet, what a great way to end a great week among like-minded supporters.

So ECWC or 55, I’ll stick with the former as we will do 55 and beyond, we may never do a European trophy again.

Thanks for that. That was a brilliant read...really enjoyed it. I'm glad you and your mates had such a great time and came back with memories to savour for the rest of your lives. :cup:

    That's a good question...I'm not ancient but I don't think it would.

They would both have great significance in our history and both would stay in or memories until the day we die I'd imagine. Winning the ECWC was a huge part of my life as a Rangers supporter of course and when we get our 55th title, it's going to me memorable for so many reasons. We'll celebrate that throughout the world and it will tell every man and his dug that we're back to where we belong (and intend to stay there).

There will also be quite a few people, maybe even so called 'journalists' or 'football pundits' queuing up to lob themselves of the Erskine Bridge like lemmings too. Which would be nice. Roll on 55!

For the older bears would our 55th title win eclipse Barca in 72?

The ECWC Final was not shown live on TV. I had to listen to it, on the radio, in my bedroom.

We were romping it, then Moscow Dynamo took control of the game. I remember feeling extremely tense towards the last few minutes, then the final whistle went, and me and my brother went mental, jumping up and down on our beds, making so much noise that my mother came up to see what was going on.

I remember going to school the next morning, with my head held high, it was like I was floating on air. We lived near Edinburgh at the time, so most of our school were Hearts, or Hibs fans, mostly Hearts though. At the morning break a lot of the Rangers fans were behind the art block, having a smoke, and we all started singing, and jumping about, it was my best day at school ever. Most of my fellow pupils were coming up to me, shaking my hand and congratulating me on our win, not that I helped to win the cup. Even some teachers were saying "well done". But it never lasted very long, because all the news started to go on about Bears causing trouble in Spain.

The following day was totally different. There was talk of UEFA taking the cup off Rangers, and getting banned from European football for years. It wasn't a good day at school, so I just went home at lunchtime, and stayed there until Monday morning.

The highs and lows of being a Bear, eh?

I remember it so clearly too, listening it it on the radio with my dad. It was the proverbial 'nail-biter' and we went crazy when the final whistle eventually came. Got a smile on my face just thinking of it again. A truly wonderful memory.

I wasn't allowed to go because of my age but my brother and his mate went and loved it. Well, apart from the scenes they saw regarding the Spanish coppers as they waded into anyone who didn't move with batons, whether one the pitch, or in the streets.

I did get to The Super Cup tournament the year after though in Barcelona which was good but nowhere near what the ECWC final would have been. I think the clubs were Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Rangers. Way back in the good old days when I was a lad.

  14. Just logged on and saw this bullshit. I guess this is from the usual suspect then? Absolute garbage from the gossip columnist/s once again in my opinion.

Why would we offer a detailed list to all and sundry? It makes no sense whatsoever. Some agents would have been told individually regarding their players futures, but that would be it. I'm sure Pedro will have drawn up a list of his own regarding who may leave/may come in, but suggesting Rangers are offering this list to clubs is ridiculous.

I'm also tired of the amount of rubbish that 'everyone in the know' is spewing out already, when probably 95% (or more) of them are simply attention seeking pricks (some will know something) and now this. Strap yourself in because it's only going to get worse. I hate this time of the year.
