    Dont think  was going to get much better. Form was inconsistent. Also one footed and very slow to turn. Rather go with Bates who although has rough edges too has more potential to be a better defender.

    Another way of looking at this (and it's more in hope than any substantial info) is that this rumoured investment might have been a factor. 

    Three foreigners. Great result.

    We definteky need a core of homegown bears in our team who know what the score is. They in turn should guide the foreigners in our ranks.

    Those foreigners should come from old Rangers players around the world who have their eyes and ears wide open to emerging local talent eg like JJ knew about Morelos. The encouraging thing is i think we are heading in the right direction

    As for more world wide support! Thay have Ireland - other than that there is no way they have more support elsewhere including NORAID scum in the states. 

    They turnover more money (just now) because of the Champions League and their feel good factor but that can change very quickly if we can get our act together. 

    Merchandise sales will help us next year as will a run in europe but we MUST win the league asap not just to prevent 10 but the financial impact.

    In short, he's around as good a player we can get and retain. If he was much better he wouldnt be here in the first place or if he was shite he would be gone (eventually)

    Same goes for Tav, John (who is slowly growing on me), Bates, Jack, Docherty, Windass, Morelos, Dorrans, Cummings. These are all players we can build a squad around to challenge with over the next few years. 

    McCrorie as well but i can see him in the prem in 3-4 years time if not before and hopefully his brother can challenge soon for the gloves .

    Go back to the first few pages of this thread, mate. That will cast away any doubts. As for your summary? It's spot on. Im not sayingany player should be criticised but some of the abuse is way OTT - especially from 'fans' to a developing player.

    I know Tav has his critics but i'd be delighted if he signed a new deal. Of course, there are some weaknesses in his game.

    Me and my mates were discussing this al, the way backup from the game - he really is a good footballer,athletic,quick, strong and a genuine attacking threat. He's no Sandy Jardine but lets face it if we had a Sandy Jardine nowadays he would be in the prem as quick as look at him. 

    In short, he's as good a player as we can retain nowadays - get the deal done Rangers
