I agree with this although i think anyone who thought we would genuinely struggle in amongst the Hearts and Aberdeens were idiots. We were always going to be 2nd this season. I am not sure about fans not settling for 2nd, there's been a few on other forums and on social media claiming it will take us years to catch the mob. Next season must provide a far greater and closer title challenge. The main objective next season is the title and nothing else will do. I don't know why people were picking out my earlier posts and getting upset, there's quite a siege mentality on here today with a hint of paranoia. Celebrating 2nd is embarrassing. It's not good enough but as a one off, this season, it's the best we can realistically hope for.

We are running at a loss, for the 5th consecutive year. It's like the last 5 years never happened. Unless you think operating expenses are paid for with chocolate buttons and snowballs. Our 43000 season ticket holders are not even enough to break even.

I can guess. I've seen people saying we should be winning the title this year. I think that is just silly. I've seen people say they expect King to make good on his promises. What promises exactly? As far as i can see, we've doubled the wage bill, the lights are still on, we've signed loads of players, we've done work to the stadium. The real issues this season have been on the park, player recruitment, there's not much King can do if the strikers the manager plays don't score goals, or the defences the manager picks can't keep it tight, or the midfields that the manager picks can't protect their defence or support their attack. To qualify for the Champion League we have to win the league. To win the league we have to beat a team over the course of a season who have been there, done that and won that for the last 4 or 5 seasons. A team, regardless of how poor we think they are, and they are poor, a team which is full of internationals and who know how to win matches that we haven't been this season. In a computer game it may be simple. On paper it may be simple. In reality, it's far from it.

I think if we beat Celtic twice, finish 2nd and stop them winning a treble by winning the Scottish Cup it will have been a decent season. More than decent actually. I don't know what else people were expecting when the financial gulf is so big. It's all very well demanding 1st and saying 2nd is last but you have to be realistic, we are quite a bit away from competing with them over the course of a season. That is just a fact right now. The only people who can fix that are the board. How hungry are they to make us number 1 again.
