As shite threads go this one is very high up the list. Start a new club ffs. :headwall:

Jeezo I already said it was a non starter. Why such abuse for saying it's something I thought about but realised wouldn't be an option.

I thought Cup runners up do qualify if the team they lose to qualifies for European competition through their league position?

    Has this changed recently?

Changed a few years ago I think.

  3. A lot of understandable anger at the current situation, but how can we make things better?

    Boycott season ticket renewals?

That will certainly do something, but not sure if starving the club of much needed funds is a good thing.

    Start a new club?

I've given this a bit of thought. The fans are by far the biggest source of income. We could form our own club, ground share with the likes of Partick or St Mirren and then at a later stage buy Ibrox and take the club home.

But how many fans would go for this? Probably much less than 50%, so much as I'd like to leave behind all the parasites that are feeding on our club, it's a non starter.

    Get rid of the board?

Would be great, but is anyone in line to replace them?

So what do we do? Anybody got any ideas

If we finish second do we skip the first qualifying round, or will it be Motherwell for winning/finish runners up in the cup?

If we finish third obviously we are going to be in the first qualifying round.

I’m unsure what the best option would be for us. Getting as many competing games under our belt early on or having an extra two weeks off.

Cup runners up don't qualify. If THEY win the cup then 4th in the league qualify.

So even if we finish 4th we'll be in. But fairly sure if we finish 2nd we miss a round

  5. I'll probably get pelters for this, but I'd look at JN taking over until end of season. Murty is out of his depth and it might be good for him as well as the team if he went back to the U 20s.

JN might not be ideal, but he's there and something needs to change soon. Aberdeen could move ahead of us and Hibs could be snapping on our heals.

We're going to have a few battles on our hands and a I don't think Murty is up to fighting a war.

  6. Don't want to slag Murty, but he's obviously out of his depth and understandably so. He doesn't have the experience or man management skills required.

He seemed to be getting the best out of the squad, but now the goings got tough I don't think he can handle it.

Should never have been given the job and it's not Murty who's at fault it's the people who appointed him

  7. Was going to post something similar. No player is bigger than the club. Given the quality of player we are likely to afford in the next few seasons, it's crucial that they function as one squad and one team.

The next manager should get 100% backing from the board and the fans to bin ANYONE who disrups squad harmony.

Even if it meant risking relegation by playing youngsters, I'd take it if it meant coming back as a more united squad.

Obviously I don't think relegation will happen whichever players pull on the jersey. However I don't think that we should be putting pressure on the new manager with regard to where we finish this season.

Our one priority for this season is to have a united squad and team and build on that.

I don't disagree with your second point. In my eyes though that would be to catch the taigs.

Exactly, we have greater resources and it wouldn't take much initiative to use them and pull away from the rest. Read my post again, I'm not talking about the money itself, but how it's used. Someone with initiative could have us pull away from the rest in one transfer window.

Catching the mhanks is a different battle all together.

If this was June I'd agree with you, but the money has been spent and it's not going to be easy to fund similar spending.

Therefor who ever comes in is going to have a major job on just to get us to 2nd place.

It can be done but I wouldn't say it won't take much to do it. It will take an awfull lot of effort skill and luck to get a decent team and decent consistency from our current squad.

We have a mountain to climb and when we get to the top we'll have an even bigger mountain to climb

Thing is, they're all having what they'd call brilliant seasons and we're having an absolute stinker - yet we're still all round about the same place, it wouldn't take much in terms of initiative to pull away from them. It's catching the taigs which concerns me.

Can't agree that it wouldn't take much to pull away from the rest. We've dropped 15 points so far, only 3 of them to a team with greater resources.

As well as a manager we need about 6 or 7 first team players. That's a lot.

  10. We are in a bad way, but other than my user name, what can we do about it ?

We're putting in as much as is possible, King is putting in exactly what I thought he would, and our debt is rising.

We need a manager who can get reults with meagre resources. But who's going to come when it seems that there's little or no money to strenghthen the squad?

Really can't see things getting better any time soon

  11. Really can't see what he's got to offer. Sometimes I look at failed managers and often think they'd be decent coaches but need somebody else to sign players and pick the team.

But I don't think Pedro is even a decent coach. Looking at his signings I think we can agree he doesn't have an eye for a player, so a scouting roll is out.

Hate to kick a guy when he's down, but he really doesn't bring anything to the table.

  12. 7 games played and we're in 5th 8 points off the top. Unless it's a draw today we'll either be 6th or 6 points off 2nd.

Early days, but I didn't think it would be this bad. Not going to dwell on yesterday, they have resources we won't be matching any time soon.

But what of the other 7 points dropped? There's a definite case for pointing the finger at the ref for the 5 points dropped against the Edinburgh sides, but no excuse for the two dropped against PT.

Also although it was very early the game in Luxemburg should have been a draw at least.

So we have an embarrasing defeat in Europe, a narrow win, points dropped in two games blamed on the ref, points dropped with nobody but ourselves to blame, and a defeat that was probably expected, but at least not as bad as some of us feared.

It's not good, and hard to see how it will get better

  13. Don't agree their defence is shit. It's makeshift, but has been good enough to see than 5 clear and in the CL group stages.

Also they might have players coming back in.

I hate to say it, but it's still early days for this team and I think the best we can hope for is a narrow defeat. However next time they come.....
