  4. Report on yesterday's game now posted http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/
  5. Archie Campbell did play wide right last week against Hearts as we played with a lone striker, today he was back in his favoured role as a striker along side Kane Hemmings, and scored two. Kyle Hutton is Mr Versatile and seems to play a different role very week, today he started out wide right and finished the game as one of the two central strikers. I have seen him play right-back, centre defence, centre mid, right mid, holding mid and striker. Both of them were excellent today, but the team was never under any pressure at any time.
  6. I think having a B side in the lower leagues could be a good idea, but it of course depends on the detail. I don't think the reserve league is of much benefit and there seems to some doubt about it continuing. It also seems there will be a reduced squad for next season which would impact on any proposed B team. The young players out on loan, have in general been loaned to 1st division clubs, which is of course is better than playing in the 3rd division. Until all the rules about what player movement between squads would be allowed etc are established, its difficult to say, but in general I think it is something we should consider.
  7. The Answer is no in both cases, no relation

  11. Gregg Wylde has been excellent for the youths this season, had a couple of crazy challenges on Saturday that resulted in the red card, hopefully he will learn from that. He is possibly the most improved player this season, alternating between left-back an left midfield. There has been some improvement in his right foot and he needs to keep working on that, to make sure he doesn't become too predictable. He can still play under 19's next season so I think he will be a mainstay of that team next year. I'm not convinced of the benefit of reserve football to young players. Personally I think going out on loan after under 19's is a better option if they are not ready for a first team break through.

  14. I hope not, but he should be in Team GB's Olympic team
  15. Jamie Ness and Danny Wilson are the obvious ones, anyone that watches the youths would know that. They have not got the same profile as John Fleck, partly due to the fact they are not attacking players. Jamie Ness is a midfielder, good passer and wins a lot of ball in midfield, possibly similar to Nigel Spackman in style. Danny Wilson is footballing, left side centre half, and is actually younger than Fleck, he only turned 17 at the end of December. I think he may make his first appearance in the top team at left back as he has still got to develop a bit physically. Gregg Wylde is the most improved this season, plays either left -back or left midfield, hopefully he will keep improving, needs to work on his right foot. Of the younger players Darren Cole has played regularly for 19's this season, right back and reminds me of a young Alan Hutton. Kane Hemming the lad we signed from Tamworth has also impressed, a big powerful striker. We have a lot of good young players, unfortunately its not an exact science. Some progress steadily, some take big leaps forward, other take steps back. the site gives a brief profile on each player http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/ If you want anymore info on any of them you can e-mail me from that site.
  16. Andy is now too old to play for the youths, but I have seen him in the reserves at both right-back and centre back and he played well. He recently got on the subs bench for first team game at ibrox. Oh I also saw him play for NI Under 21's against Scotland, as a striker and he score that night.
  17. Yes the youths are going for their third title in a row.
