Just found out we are off to the Scilly Isles the weekend of OF game. Whilst I appreciate my woman booking these little escapes from London I reminded her that she should check with me regards football! Anyway I am sure I can view it somewhere as it is on Sky and so forth but if anyone knows of any RSC or the like please let me know. Oh and have checked bluenosebars.com or whatever its called and there was no listing.

They just love it when the Isles of Scilly are referred to as the Scilly Isles.

  2. McKay has had a relatively poor few games but has still produced.  He was heavily involved with both goals against Dundee and opened up Motherwell with a beautiful pass in the first-half on Saturday.  I don't think he should be dropped and I'll be surprised if Mark Warburton does either.

We all know Sutton is a bawbag but I'm scratching my brains to think of something he's actually done wrong on this occasion. I'm my opinion he's been quite fair on all of our games. He did go a bit over the top complaining about forrester not getting sent off but he probably deserved an early bath.

Well said.  Sutton is obviously Tim minded but actually he's a pretty reasonable pundit.  Like you said he went over the top with the Forrester thing (although he was right in what he said) but I'd prefer him to a sycophant.  It warms my cockles to hear him say that we are good to watch.

It looked like he was stuck between shooting and squaring it for MOH and that's how he ended up with that weird outside of the foot thing. But aye he should have scored that

None of the forwards were really in the game in the last half an hour due to us resorting to panicked long balls.

I'm not saying wee Barrie is exempt from criticism but to single him out yesterday seems ridiculous to me. One of the most dangerous players on the park.

I agree.  Of course he's not exempt from criticism but even though he wasn't at his best, he made both the goals.  I think criticism of that miss is a bit OTT; nobody scores with every chance and he brought out a good save from the Dundee keeper.  You see from his reaction that he thought he scored but the keeper just tipped it around the post.

He had an assist! That's not nothing

Yet another example of giving the assist to the last player to touch the ball (although actually that was O'Dea) giving a misleading result.  Wallace's ball across was average; credit for the run but it was McKay that created the opening.

If George Best was playing in the modern game he'd be the best in the world the guy was a genius aye he ruined himself through drink back then but today's players are brought up differently with the right guidance he'd be a super star. With the protection modern players get Best would be sensational, as would many of the skillful players of that generation the kicking's those guys took back then was shocking it was nothing but out and out thuggery they would thrive in today's game.

Yes with the protection from referees, the far superior playing surfaces he'd be a super star.  That's assuming he'd have a different lifestyle.  Back then it was common for players to be piss artists, many professionals smoked.  These days you've got to meet a certain standard of fitness and Best would have to be more professional if he wanted to play at the top.

Aye by luck not by planning. Our corners are woeful

NIMO.  Our corners more often than not result in a ball into the box or an attempt on goal, and sometimes a goal.  That may come after a few passes but I don't think they are less successful than our conventional corners.

    Talk pish

an excellent short corner is when it bounces about off opposition? aye nae bother

It created an opening which  eventually resulted in a goal.

We had about 10 last night and every one was shite

Something that clearly needs work on as we are brutal at them

Nonsense. NK's goal came after an excellent short corner.

I like the short corners but as FB suggests it won't take teams long to figure out a plan to stop them. Having the option to put a 'normal' corner wouldn't harm us, plenty of good attackers with heading ability that could also fit into our regular style of play.

Whether we can afford one good enough is another story.

Bound to be a bargain somewhere but I couldn't suggest one . Stopped watching lower league football couple of years ago.

Yes makes sense to mix them up a bit.

  11. I must one of the few who prefer the short corners.  I don't have any figures but my intuition is they are more successful than most Bears think.  They end up with a decent ball into the box or an attempt on goal at least as often as 'ordinary' corners.

"Assists" mean nothing in comparing players if they only include the last player to pass to the scorer. What if the player before that has beaten three defenders? What about the forward who draws two defenders out of position? They play every bit as much in "assisting" the goal.

Spot on.  Some of the assists granted to players recently have been ridiculous; for example someone tapping the ball to a player 25 yards out who then goes on to score with a long range effort. Some goals don't have an assist of any note and there's some where more than one player should take credit; the equaliser at home to Hibs (4-2) last season was one.
