  1. I'd imagine a fair proporotion not renewing happens every year, and new folk coming on as well. A few seats round me change every year, and there is a hard core who I expect all to be back today. So the number not renewing only means something in comparison to the norm - which is not and never has been 100%.

Some folk really try hard to find problems that aren't there!

The great news is that lots of young Bears will be tarting their journey today, and that's fantastic news for everyone conected with our club.

  2. Literally tingling with pride. I'd also add a nice gesture would be to get the guys and girls from the TO out on the pitch before the game to give them a well deserved cheer.

Been to the ticket office twice in recent weeks, and despite the huge numbers the staff were incredibly positive, patient and professional.

Agree that it would be a great gessture if that could be offically acknowledged.

  3. Respect your position on this, and appreciate what you have been trying to do, but, for me, the days of actively supporting Scotland are now over, because of the events of the past few months (and I first watched Scotland in 1969). Can't separate the national team from the SFA and the bigoted fans of the of the other clubs I'm afraid ...

And likewise I can understand why many Rangers fans, like yourself, feel that way.

I've supported club and country all my life and I'll continue to do so, but it has been a concern of mine that a huge number of Rangers supporters are drifting away from the national team, and last night, and the attitude of certain members of the SFA towards Rangers this summer have done nothing to help get people back.

Be we as a club have always been at the forefront of the supporting the national team and I do hope, that despite last night, that this continues to be the case.

  4. Tartan Teddy....I think as a group you should have had more leadership from the National Manager regarding this. The fact that you didnt speaks volumes.

I agree with you fully and I think a lot of Scotland fans would agree with you too.

Levein in many way caused, or certainly exacerbated, the problem with his statement about Lee Wallace, and then selection of Black. He should have followed the lead NI took re Shields and Little and said if the players prove to be playing well enough and at an aceptable standard for international football then they would be selected.

In my opinion, for what it's worth, I think he should have made a very strongly worded statement today condeming the fans who booed.

  5. Took them a whole day to come up with this statement.

Most got back late last night, I think we got into Glasgow around 1.00am, others later, I know the London TA rep was on the sleeper as I had a beer with him before he got on the train. The majority of ATAC reps have jobs and a statement can't be issued before they have a consensus. I think Jim Brown had it done by lunchtime and out to the press a little after that - obviously the time stated on the release is when the Press Association published it. It was never going to make the papers today, so the statement was always going to be for tomorrows papers.

I think it's good that ATAC have taken a clear and firm position - and have indicated it was wholly unacceptable. Something the vast majority endorsed last night.

  6. When it happened the first time an immediate response should have been for the others to clap and drown out the arseholes.

That did not happen and it was not an iosolated booing as it happened more than once.

At any football game when one side boo an opponent, for instance, then people generally cheer or clap to drown it out.

If the so called majority did this there would be no story to tell.

They did not, so in essence condone it which makes them just as bad imo.

    Sad atate of affairs indeed.

There was a response from a decent section of the crowd, though it was quite a flat atmosphere at the game. I also think a lot of people were surprised at the booing when he came on and certainly didn't expect it to continue when he touched the ball. It was also towards the end of the game and it was tipping it down with a fair few heading for the exits.

But I would also agree, as did many folk leaving the ground, that there wasn't a big enough effort to shout those who booed down - so a fair point to make. But I do think there would be a significant response if it happened again.

I'm pleased ATAC issued the statement, and obviously hope it gets through to the idiots that made an arse of themselves and their country last night.

  7. As someone at the game last night, I'm aware that the majority of fans there were angered by what appeard to be quite a large group, albiet a minority, of fans who chose to boo Ian Black. Many, including myself, spoke to some of the Association representatives to express our dismay at the actions of that minority. All of the reps we spoke to, who support a variety of clubs, were equally unhappy at the treatment given to Black. A statement was released today by ATAC to reinforce that point - a view shared by the vast majority of Scotland fans.

    Fans' body condemn Black treatment

    (UKPA) – 59 minutes ago

The Association of Tartan Army Clubs (ATAC) have condemned those Scotland fans who booed midfielder Ian Black during Wednesday's friendly match against Australia at Easter Road.

The 27-year-old Rangers player, who joined the Ibrox club in the summer after leaving Hearts, came on as a late substitute to make his debut to the vociferous displeasure of a section of the home support.

There had been controversy surrounding Black's call-up to the squad. Scotland manager Craig Levein had omitted team-mate Lee Wallace from the squad due to him now playing his football in the Irn-Bru Third Division.

Black was then targeted near the end of the game which the Scots won 3-1. It was unclear whether that was because of his Hearts and Rangers connections, or his general reputation as a hardy midfielder.

Speaking for ATAC, Jim Brown said: "One of the guiding principles of the Tartan Army is that when we come together club allegiances are put to the side as everyone throws their support behind the national team.

"It is therefore regrettable that a small section of the Scotland support chose to forget this and booed Ian when he took to the field and for the short period he was on the pitch.

"Given that this was Ian's full international debut, an occasion he has described as being the pinnacle of his career to date, these actions are especially disappointing."

After the match Black claimed the booing did not ruin the occasion.

"I'm absolutely delighted, it's probably the biggest and proudest moment of my career so far," he said.

I'm not particulalry expecting any positive comments on this but thought it was important that Rangers fans know that the vast majority of the Scotland support, including the offical supporters representatives, which still include many Bears, are just as pissed off about last night as folk are on here. I think it's also worth pointing out that Ian Black has made it clear that it was still an extremely proud moment for him, and one which he regards as a high point in his career. Hopefuly he'll achieve, and be recognised for, even greater achievements both with Rangers and with Scotland.

  8. From Govan Front you could see the club deck was half full. Coupe of blocks of seats in the second tier of the main stand were empty and there were spaces at the back of the Broomloan and obviously in and around the Fifers. We guessed 40,000 before the announcement, so don't think 38,160 is far off the mark. I'm assuming the Govan rear was full.

An amazing crowd, and I guess just seeing it on a Tuesday night absolutely bouncing made people (hopefuly innocently) exagerrate numbers.

On a Saturday it would have been rammed - and hopefully that'll be the case at the Shire game.

    Lots of fun tonight!!

  9. I've been quoted in the press a few times and it's yet to be anything I actually said - so I'd take these 'quotes' from players with a big pinch of salt.

The reality is, that most of our players with an international career and a high potential transfer value will move, and they'll be in the situation where they will want to be as saleable as possible to potential buyers - it's up to the club to pursue transfer fees not the players leaving - that's hard to take for us but it's life and I'm hardly surprised that we are seeing what we are seeing.

McGregor hung about as understudy for years, went up to St Johnstone on loan, was almost punted to them by the club but hung around and became a great keeper for us - he'll have my eternal thanks for the penalty save against Samaras, amongst many other great moments.

You can hate him as much as you like, but I hate others far more for putting him (and others) in a position where they feel they have to leave the club in this way.

  10. On Broomloan Road for a meeting so popped into the ticket office to see if there was any news. According to the guy there:

Once the licence is agreed ticket information will go out next week. Apparently all ready to go but they have been told it won't go out until Monday at the earliest and only when licence agreed.

Direct debit won't be used but there will be a means of electronically paying - he was a bit coy about this but kept saying that they wouldn't be using the direct debit information that they have from current season ticket holders.

Same seats as last year unless you request a change

The game next Tuesday and all other cup games are not on the season books, league only.

This is from a direct conversation with the guy there - didn't really go into any other detail. Assume it was all kosher.

Thought some folk might be interested.

  11. fuck the sfa and there national team. come and support northern ireland .... our team mite not be great but we are loyal to our queen and would NEVER do to rangers wat THEM SCUMMY BASTARDS have done . (ohhhh and we dont boo our british national anthem)

Mind and give Lafferty a wee clap at the next game.

As for Scotland, I'll always watch both my club and country - doesn't mean I have any respect for the SFA, just as I haven't got any respect for the people who got our great club into the mess it's in, there's an easy link there. It's about who you are and what you will always be, and for me that's Rangers till I die and Scotland forever.

  12. Direct debit begins 6th July until then (as far as I'm aware) none of the season tickets of existing season ticket holders will have been 'sold'. You have until the 6th to cancel your DD, so any figure before that day is pointless.

  13. Thought Salmond and his mob didn't care about relations between Holyrood and Westminster?

I think it's more to do with sustaining his own core vote than destroying the core Unionist vote.

Ehh, of course the First Minister cares about the relationship between Holyrood and Westminster - it's a key factor in government and also essential to any discussion around independence. Any suggestion otherwise fails to understand the dynamic of politics in the UK. And I guess the leader of a party seeking popular support would want to sustain his own core support - is there a party that doesn't <cr>

Given there is little love lost between a vocal element of the Rangers support and the SNP, I think Salmond's support is to be commended and if not that, then certainly welcomed.

It's said that in times of adversity you find out who your friends are, and who your enemies are - and to date, Salmond is certainly proving to be the former!

  14. You can buy a small enamel star badge of one of the vendors outside Ibrox, have been wearing mine for the last week - gets plenty of questions, but most folk are very positive about it. Have the blue gold crest enamel badge (the one on the end of the main stand) on another jacket - subtle enough that you can wear to your work without any comment from bosses about wearing football stuff.

  15. If it was all about religion the churches would be packed to the rafters - they're not, they're empty.

For me it's about Rangers FC, and yes, they're a football club. The folk around me still in the stands at 90 minutes on Saturday cared about the team, the club and those who support them. They we're the ones who to me showed the greatest passion, and to be honest, there were many who left without so much as look back - something that amazes me given the current troubles we face.

Those who care about religion more than the club will find another vehicle for their support of a faith which they don't actually keep.

Those of us who place the club first and foremost though have everything to lose!

  16. Aye, that lot should have been at home on the internet instead of being at the game!!

No fan of BBC coverage but nobody said anything that wasn't said by everyone that was there today, or indeed on here on a publicaly accessible messageboard. Lack of information, lack of tactical awareness and an incredible decision to leave the club withour options after the sale of Jelavic - so nothing new. Think I was probably most troubled by the final comment - because the biggest problem today was tactical ineptness!

And before we say he hasn't got the money - he has got significantly more than Houston has at Utd or Lennon has at St Mirren and we are struggling to compete with either of them!

  17. Two things stood out for me.

Gary Kenneth has one skill, he can attack a high ball coming to him and he can do it all day long. Other center-half looked as comfortable facing that too. So why for ninety minutes did we punt high balls to Healy, Aluko and later Kerkar and Little. That to me was mind blowing. The second is that you have to deny Utd width, they survive on pacy wingers causing damage. So we play two Centre halves and then have Bartley and Papac drifing into the middle too. That gave Utd exactly the opportunity they were looking for and (of course) they took it. Add in a lack of desire, shape and ability to respond to clear threats. And we have major problems.

The Manager has to take the blame for that.

  18. Of course you can leave when you want, but it has an impact on the team and our reputation, and if that's not an issue for some then of course leave ten minutes to go. Ironically it always seems to be the one's shouting 'no surrender' that bugger off the earliest!

I head off on the final whistle every game and take the underground to Partick. I'm there for 5.15 (after a 3 o'clock kick off). I guess if I headed off ten minutes early to beat the rush I could be there for maybe 5.05 - think I'd rather stay and back the team and actually be a supporter, rather someone who goes along and doesn't give a feck how the games going to finish.

Personal choice, but leaving early is akin to players chucking it when they go a goal down - unacceptable in a blue jersey!
