There is no big surprise about the result tonight. For years now Rangers have been missing any sort of creative influence from the team. For me it all started going downhill when they replaced Van Bronckhorst with Nerlinger - that was the last of the truly class players before the current poor times started to bite.Forget Mcleish qualifying from a weak group (including Inter behind closed doors),forget a couple of good results against Celtic and forget Smiths return this is now a club that is no better than a battling group of players that are well out of their depth in the Champions League
Barry Ferguson and maybe Cuellar are the only players in the current squad that are any ways good enough to call themselves CL quality - and before you start shouting about Hutton - he gives far to many free kicks away still to be considered good enough
Walter Smith cant lose this year - he took Rangers back again when things were at a serious low but to be honest he cant go wrong - things can only improve and probably anyone could get Rangers nearer Celtic than last season
Allan Mcgregor is a decent 2nd choice keeper
Papac is an average player you could pick out of any league in Europe
Weir has been immense but has surely had his time
Cuellar will be away in a couple of seasons
Hutton is never Premiership quality - the potential is there but nowhere near yet
Hemdani and Thomson - negative and short of ideas
Ferguson must be incredibly frustrated with what is going on around about him and needs some CREATIVE support
McCulloch - a worker and nothing more
Couisan - Waste of space
Whittaker - a Hibs player !
You can slag me all you want but this is nothing more than an average collection of players with just about no hope of the league title this seasos
CREATIVITY
CREATIVITY You could see clearly some of the killer passes some of the Lyon Players put through tonight - I dont beleive the Rangers players could have seen these spaces
