I can tell you what you’ve missed already. Walter took two games before Souness arrived in 86.(data is from fitbastats.com)

Ah, cheers that's what I've missed, I only have the 4 games from the end of 90-91 season... Will be interesting to see how Murty does with the transfer window and getting his own Assistant in.

I'll hold my hands up to that. This is the data I've used and it's lacking the Motherwell game too for some reason. Maybe just not been updated over Xmas. Funnily, that takes him another win closer to Walter's record in the same time. Two more wins and he's got an identical record to Smith. If he beats Fraserburgh and Aberdeen he's nailed it.  So aye, there's yer Rangers manager with a similar record to Murty's. Walter Fucking Smith.

Where do you get your data from? Not saying your wrong as I might well be but going by what I have Walter's first 20 games in charge were 14 wins, 1 Draw (Dundee Utd) and 5 Losses (Motherwell, Hearts, Sparta Prague, Hibs and Aberdeen.

IF Murty wins his next 2 games he will be 12 wins, 2 Draws and 6 Losses, admittedly not too far off Walter but no quite identical?

  3. Agree, biggest problem for me is the consistency, especially against the so called smaller teams.  A few quality players, especially one in the middle of the park would go a long way to sorting this though as I reckon it would give the rest of a players a boost.  Think the priority should be as below:

Central Attacking Midfielder > Left Winger (unless we keep playing a diamond formation) > Partner for Morelos > Cover for RB.

The squad is really lacking in depth and I think today proved that, we used to have players like Novo on our bench that could come on and grab or set up a winner, I don't think there was a single player on our bench today that could really come on and do that anymore.

Hopefully Murty will be given a chance in Jan to at least sort some of the problems out but I really don't think we are as far away from them player for player as some think.

A - I agree he has been underfunded, but I also refuse to believe he has used the players at his disposal wisely. We were shit at the back what does he do? Expose the backline more than any team in Scotland. Even that simple example speaks volumes.

B - try to understand without jumping to conclusions and talking shite yourself, at youth level and not throughout the whole team.

I thought it was blatantly obvious what I was getting at.

Too ambitious - changing too much all at the same time and fucking things up completely.

Understand where your coming from but would that work?  Let's say we had it at youth level but not senior, then 2 or 3 of the youths got promoted to the senior team and showed some real class, which system do we play? The one the senior team is currently playing or the one that the 3 youth players are now used to?

It's something that will 100% take time to implement and I agree that we should have been perhaps scouting players for the first team who are used to playing this kind of system but I still think it will come good and may be exactly why Warburton has always spoke about a 3 year plan. This years one was just to finish 2nd with the view of qualifying for European football and attracting players of a bit more higher quality.

  5. Just started my second season after winning the Scottish Cup and League double in my first, and on a great run of wins at the moment, favourable draw in the Champions League qualifiers so far so will hopefully be through to the group stages.

Squad as below, Caktas has been a great signing and started this season on fire!

  6. 6 games to go in my first season and I'm sitting 2 points behind them after sitting in first place for the majority of the season, a 1-0 loss at the piggery saw me down to 2nd.  Still to play them at Ibrox and I'm confident of a win there so will hopefully win the league.  Made a few signings and most of them have done well, will post a screenshot later on.

Barrie Mckay, Danny Wilson and Tavernier has been superb for me this season, although Tav spat the dummy for a while when I sold Waghorn and Rossiter, reason being not enough depth in the squad even though I replaced them both.  Dodoo looks decent but has been kept out the team by Garner for the best part of the season.

Funds are starting to get low now and I'm in the red towards the tail end of the season after requesting that the youth and training facilities were upgraded.  Hopefully once season tickets are renewed and the possibility of Champions League next season my transfer budget will be increased in the summer.

Yeah possibly. Just from watching the game, my point was more related to saying Miller should not be starting. Love the guy for what he's done but he's 36 and you can see his legs are not the same. Either bring someone else in or play MOH/Dodoo/Forrester/Windass to provide more energy and pace.

Agree, I think Miller will more than likely be used in the "bigger" games this season against them and possibly the sheep for his experience, apart from that I'd hope we would go for one of the players you mentioned in Millers place, use him a bit more off the bench etc.

  8. Agree that we need a quality centre half in there, especially for the bigger games.  I personally don't think we really need another striker at the moment though, we have Waghorn, Miller, Dodoo (still untested) and potentially O'halloran that are all more than capable of getting goals, as well as our midfield and also full backs.  Not been too great today but started to come back into it the last 15-20 mins and let's not forget we are playing an English Premiership side, one who I fancy to actually do reasonably well this season.

  9. Not sure how risky this post is but I've just got home and managed to avoid the score all day so was wondering if anyone could let me know if there was any way of watching the full game as a catch up just now?  I have a VPN and can use RangersTV but it won't let me use the catch up option at the moment? Any help would be appreciated!

  10. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but has anyone tried phoning the ticket office recently? Been trying most of the day yesterday and a bit today but just keep getting the same message that they are busy and to try later.  Really need to get on the phone to them to make sure that my delivery address is changed for the semi final ticket being posted but had no luck so far. Tried emailing last week also but no reply. Just wondering if there are alternative numbers you can phone?

Out of curiosity, the pitch you had at School, did it meet FIFA criteria? Or was it a council install without the necessary shock absorb room required for pro games? What kind of pitch did you play on before it was installed? There's lots of variables here other than, I played on synthetic pitch and now my knee/ankle is fucked.

Lottery funded so I'm guessing just installed by the council, couldn't tell you for definite though. Played on a decent grass pitch before this.  Like I said could be coincidental but I know for a fact that I feel a lot sorer the next day after playing on 3G than after a game on grass which is why I personally don't like them

So how do they propose to discover long term effects if they don't want them used? Personally the big test will be when the first lot of kids who grew up playing most of their football on them get into their late 20s/early thirties. Will be interesting to see if there's any significant increase in knee/ankle injuries caused by playing in these pitches.

We had one of these pitches installed at our school round about 2003/04 while I was still in school.  After playing on it an average of once a week until I was around 23/24 I can honestly say both my knees are now in bits at the age of 27. Could just be a coincidence but I do feel there's a difference playing on these pitches and partly blame them for the state my knees are in today.  I've had a minimum of 4 injuries to them all while playing on a synthetic surface, again this really is just my opinion as I'm sure there are many who have played on them without any problems over they years but for me I'd rather play on grass surfaces week in week than a synthetic one.

Surely he would have been unable to take the penalty if that was the case?

Hope its not the case anyway, though a week or two out may do him the world of good.

If it's just a strain I think he'd have managed to take the penalty still.  If it was a tear however he'd struggle, I've done the cruciates in both my knees (one of them twice) and each time I struggled to walk let alone run. Hopefully won't be too bad but there's every chance he made it worse by taking the penalty etc when he should have just came off though!
