Fact is that Commons wages would have left him no room to maneuver with regards to other areas of the team. I'll eat my scarf if we don't sign at least one player of any kind. Granted it'll be harder to qualify next year. but If Walter even hinted that this squad wouldn't have a chance of at least wining the right to an opportunity at qualifying.....and costing the bank a share of 16 million? Naismith is the only player who looked to get within 20 yards of big laff as quickly as he could after Lafferty took his first touch. The Hearts CB couldn't get near him in that instance but as soon as he has to hold and hold and hold and still hold....and still waiting for a pass...still holding; there's only ever gonna be one outcome. I think Lafferty could cause teams so many problems guys like Davis and Naismath could benefit - with a little more license to support, immediately. Stifled themselves today Rangers, and on a lot of other occasions, through sheer unwillingness to commit more than 3 players forward.

Exactly mate. To be fair though with the lack of money at the club for wages, never mind transfers, the scouts probably get 90% of their prospects rejected. Still you would hope that if any take over happens or injection of fresh funds come in; that a few players have been earmarked at least. Maybe Ally will get some decent bosman signings in the summer. Fingers crossed.

Ive heard Sir Walter described as "shrewd" on many occasion and In a number of contexts. He'll have to prove it again this January.

So you think his contribution has matched the assessment of his quality by some of our support and a majority of the media? Listen mate, I'm not doing this going round in circles - you arguing against a point I never made - kind of discussion; lets get it right and save some time: I haven't said hes a bad player. I just don't see where people get this "he makes us tick" from. For the 3 million and all the hype I would expect more. We cant have it both ways up here; you cant decry the quality of our league then settle for little better than decent from a player who cost that amount of money. He's given leeway with regards to being played out of position by some sections of our support - leeway not afforded to other players who were given even less of an opportunity. He doesnt do enough or often enough for me and, like I said, if some silly chairman in the EPL wants to spend over 5 million for him; then I say take it. Again, for the form hes shown, you could get 2 of him for 4 or 5 million. I will add and stress, that I hope to fuck he proves me wrong the next 4 or 5 months and next season and the one after that and so on. I really do. I hope that. I just feel he gets an easy ride because of his "roots".

Im beggin' all these people who are saying "he needs to learn to pass" to go back and watch every game he features in and see that 90% of the players who pass TO him, play a little game called "give the kid the ball and run as far away from him as possible" Lafferty. Only player who ever even once got within 10 yards of him in an advanced position and gave him an option. Nearly 80 F'n minutes. FFS. He's not Laudrup. Fuck hes not even Walters ffs. Hes 20 years old. He plays with these guys who're supposed to have all this experience and In my opinion he gets hung out to dry 90% of the time hes given the football. The Celtic players just lined up in single file in front of him. After 80 minutes Laffertys is the only one who thinks "hmm--lets drop off and play a one-two with the kid." Once. The whole game. The blame lies elsewhere if everyone is desperate to do that.

The boys 19 years old and primarily plays in a position where hes expected to "make things happen". Any idea how many seasoned pros have came here and failed at just that? They never took half the abuse this kid gets. Its not his fault some members of our support talk him up too much or certain sections of the press for that matter. He doesn't pick himself, in OR out of position either. That's somebody else' decision. Not allowed to mention that are we? No no. The boys here. Hes a bear. He wears the jersey. Get behind him or say nothing at all. It seems to me we're suffering from the "I told you so" condition. In other words: some people want him to be shite so they can say "I told you so". I personally hope the lad turns out to be a world beater and fucks off for big wages down south or somewhere in Europe. That's be our "just deserts".
