  1. My point is that it was a sub standard attempt at an article. Every time you post on this topic defending it further highlights your devisive tone and egotistical motivations. It's all about Rangers for us. Write like a Bear and you might earn some of the respect you so obviously crave.

I'd love to see your journalistic qualifications. At what point in the article was I divisive? At what point did I tell anyone what to do or not do? Egotistical motivations? Aye, right you are. Tell me what I'm thinking and what motivates me. There are plenty of posters on here whose opinions I respect (even if I disagree), but you certainly aren't one of them.

  2. If I was to suggest that it could sway someone not to renew then I would be 'vastly overestimating the influence' of your article, however you suggest that it could sway someone to go out and renew out of spite and suddenly every action has a reaction.

I only said it might, not that I actually believe it. I was trying (albeit badly) to show the people who are adamant that I've harmed the club, that their argument cuts another way. I'd be amazed (and a little disappointed) if anyone let that piece influence their decision on purchasing their ST.

  3. so how does that not mean they were bought ?? .And thought you were off this site now ?

They're not bought if they're pushing it of their own accord. They saw wee £ signs in front of their eyes with the idea of reconstruction and were determined to see it through regardless.

Hahaha, and why would that be?

  4. Strange how it was all the clubs that were complient to change have ended up as head of the group .Hamilton ? Alloa ? Scumbags .If it goes tits up these two clubs should hold their heads in shame because I firmly believe these two were bought .

Accies weren't bought, they were one of the main instigators in the D1 clubs threatening to split.

  5. With all due respect, it was hardly an "article" because nothing noteworthy was articulated to the audience. Ill thought out. It will get your name out there right enough. The primary objective of many a wannabe blogger.

So un-noteworthy, we're pushing 11 pages of discussion. My hugely-positive retrospect a few months ago on the 2003 OF League Cup final got barely 10 replies. Such is life.

Yes, it'll get an assumed name out there. Great logic.

  6. Speaking before heading into Hampden on Thursday, Annan chairman Henry McClelland said: "Today is one of significant history in the game. Everyone's saying it's for the good of the game we move forward, well, we'll judge that in a few years' time, I think.

"Small clubs like Annan Athletic, we're going to be put into financial difficulty because of this merger."

I know this was pre-meeting, but that's worrying. How much can it have changed in there?

  7. Il be honest mate this reply slightly concerns me....what do you mean 'too late'? Too late for what? Was the purpose of your article to voice your opinion or to create a reaction? If it was an opinion then timeframe really shouldn't have been a concern!

That reaction could be a positive one as you say however going back to what dunny said...if just one person was swayed even partially by your article, which had alot of fair points that I can't argue with, then all that does is damage the club...what did you hope to gain from the article? We're you trying to stimulate debate or just unload your reasons etc?

There's no point starting a debate when the deadline has passed - if anything, I thought the reaction would be as is - 'fuck you' with hopefully some marginals renewing in spite, but I'd never claim that I have any influence over anyone apart from myself. I could have delayed it a touch, maybe next week, but sales will be ongoing all season, not just renewals, so there isn't a good time. To deprive the club of money is absolutely not my intention and never has been.

Stimulate debate mainly. If anyone listens and acts on it because of what I said - my own opinion and personal choice - then they should be just as easily swayed by DJW's fine piece on why you should renew.

  8. I've read it m8, perhaps I don't understand it - I'm surprised if i'm honest. You sat through some grim games last season and props to you for that. We were at our lowest in many respects but the only way is up. I ain't condemning you or your decision but I don't think it's just uber fans that take exception to the article. Our detractors just love this kind of thing

I've perhaps worded it badly, the ubers was a reference to those doling out abuse given that it comes across that some of them haven't even read the piece. I knew this might have been controversial, but without opinions, this or any other forum is worthless.

  9. Maybe not but in many ways it would potentially validate your views more if we had more background!

From my point of view I think the article should not have been published on the main site regardless, though that's not your problem.

In relation to timing I actually think this is the worst time you could have chosen and is potentially divisive and in many ways has led to the critisim you have got....if you posted this a few weeks ago or after Friday saying why you didn't renew I think alot of the sting would have been taken out if it!

It's your views and your more than entitled to them however you must know yourself the wave of negative publicity we have suffered over the past few years and a reinvigorated effort of late, whilst season ticket renewals are so important, you have inadvertadly (i hope/assume) added to that.....

I'll be absolutely stunned if my article has convinced anyone, who was previously going to renew their ticket, that they shouldn't renew it. Again, I could have done, but it wouldn't have been relevant. It'd just have been, 'who cares/why is he saying that now, it's too late' etc.

People on here are vastly overestimating the influence of the article I contributed. However, there is a flip-side. People that were humming and hawing about renewing may now go out and renew just to spite me or (in their head) RM. Every action has a reaction and all that.

  10. Suggesting the article upsets only the "ubers" is digging further mate. It upsets the support as a whole imo

The replies in this thread show that to be clearly untrue. Even in the aforementioned unpopular article, I don't claim to know what the whole support is thinking.

  11. To be fair mate you acknowledged yourself you were always going to get a bit of stick for your post and I'm sure you understand for the most part where that comes from....from my point if view I understand and agree with alot of your points albeit the timing of conveying those points leaves alot to be desired....I did consider not renewing at the end if last season as i was just so deflated but it really just is such a big part of my life that the habitual nature was always going to take over which I knew it would....

I have actually grown more positive about the season ahead over the past few weeks watching alot if the interviews and pieces on rangerstv....I do expect big improvements this year and hopefully you will be able to justify the expense easier either next season or during this one as we really are at a crucial stage in our comeback at the moment and need everyone pulling in the one direction and the last thing we need is fans offering justifications of why you shouldn't renew at this juncture...

My complaint wasn't with your views which are your own but more the timing and potential negative effect it could have on others being published on the main site...I don't know you mate so I have no idea of your background, history etc in terms of following the club however I just want to see the club progress and for the fans to back that progress all the way back to the top!

There's never a good time to publish such an article, but just about everyone who will renew is more than likely to have done so already.

I get that the timing isn't great, but any later and it wouldn't have been relevant. Any experiences and STs or other tickets I've had in the past are going to be of no importance to those that have already made up their mind.

  12. ur no even half an Uber... see thing is. not a single person is interested in ur post.... we are concerned about havin a team to support. You keep being controversial you seen to be revelling in it anyhow.

love Uberfan Dunny and UberSon Kris

10 pages of discussion would make it seem otherwise. And apparently my post means I'm not concerned about having a Rangers to support. Stellar logic.
