  1. You've obviously not watched much of him then. He's been praised for his workrate this season. He's basically improved all aspects of his game whilst still banging in the goals and he's lost a lot of weight too.

Yes, I remember those spells when he was at Ibrox too. 'Kris has changed, he's fitter, contributing more to the play etc etc' Usually lasted for a few weeks and then the real Boyd re-emerged.

  2. Would like this to happen.

Just one problem though, his record against cellic wasn't the best. Why was that ? Trying too hard ? Poor tactics ?

Same reason he was useless in Europe (latterly dropped to the bench for this games) and failed in England. He's really not that good. Scoring bursts against dodgy Scottish defences aside, he lacks mobility, and is a lazy player. McCoist should not be allowed to spend the wages that Boyd will expect. Do we never learn?

  3. Absolutely no idea where he'll fit in when Miller and Boyd signs..

    Same for Daly..

Can we really afford subs who are earning over 7 k a week?

We can't afford the current squad, never mind adding Miller and Boyd, but that won't stop McCoist. The board really needs to stop his nonsense.

  4. After all we've seen since August, with the season now over, this should be the time for McCoist to step aside, or for the Board to act decisively to remove him. Neither will happen, because McCoist actually believes he is doing a good job, and the Board is too preoccupied with the off-field matters to deal with the worst manager in our history.

  5. We won the league we were expected to win, failed to win any of the three cups, played dreadful football most of the time, saw our manager and his coaching team convert the few good signings they have made into mediocre players. Not a success by any stretch of the imagination. The problem is that our manager believes it was a success.

  6. Remember listening to the game on the radio in my room (I was 12), then staying up to watch the full match on TV. Next day at school in Kilwinning celebrating in the playground with fellow Gers fans ( ie kids who actually went to the games) and some neds who used to mock us whenever we had a bad result now pretending that they were fans too. The glory hunters never change, I suppose ...

  7. 15 year old, 72, ECWC run, Sandy right mid in all home games, standout, then THAT goal v Bayern....memories I will take to the grave. RIP sir

Me too. I was 12 and at all the home games. Sandy's goal against Bayern was the pick of a night that also saw Bud sitting on the ball, and Beckenbauer and Maier screaming at each other. Sandy's reaction when he scored was something else.

  8. Nope not for me. Season has been shite. We had about 4 good months. It's been turgid, horrible and watching us seems like a chore, we need fresh ideas

I missed the four good months. For me, the best we ever achieved was the occasional 20 minutes in some games. Apart from that, it was very poor.

  9. I think lack of stability at board level is doing this. No manager would have foundations set in the circumstances. McCoist has done well enough thus far in the circumstances.

There's probably something in this (ie the board issues and general circumstances), and I respect your view. For me, though, the management and coaching problems are deep-rooted, and go beyond the current board room and financial circumstances.

  10. Modern, professional coaching will not prevent a lack of match sharpness. You're pushing the bounds of reality in an effort to have a pop. This is another case of McCoist being in a no win situation. Plays them and he's causing injuries. Doesn't play them and they are lacking match sharpness and he's criticised for this if it shows in the cup.

I made my mind up about Ally as a manager a long time ago, and I'm afraid that every month that passes only confirms his deficiencies for me. I respect the views of those who see him as a big part of the club's future, but, for me, the whole management and coaching set-up, and the personnel, are holding us back in terms of laying proper foundations for future success.

  11. Are you advocating dropping all players for weeks before the cup games? Do you think that would aid match sharpness?

If we had a proper modern, professional coaching set-up it wouldn't be a problem for players to be rested. Instead, we have a manager who consistently makes the wrong decisions, wastes money, and runs a coaching set-up based on laughs and cronyism. Nothing will change until McCoist and his buddies are replaced by modern professionals, and these don't need to be 'Rangers men' either.
