  1. Most got back late last night, I think we got into Glasgow around 1.00am, others later, I know the London TA rep was on the sleeper as I had a beer with him before he got on the train. The majority of ATAC reps have jobs and a statement can't be issued before they have a consensus. I think Jim Brown had it done by lunchtime and out to the press a little after that - obviously the time stated on the release is when the Press Association published it. It was never going to make the papers today, so the statement was always going to be for tomorrows papers.

I think it's good that ATAC have taken a clear and firm position - and have indicated it was wholly unacceptable. Something the vast majority endorsed last night.

Respect your position on this, and appreciate what you have been trying to do, but, for me, the days of actively supporting Scotland are now over, because of the events of the past few months (and I first watched Scotland in 1969). Can't separate the national team from the SFA and the bigoted fans of the of the other clubs I'm afraid ...

  2. There's an existing and growing gulf between Rangers fans and Scotland fans.

I remember when I proudly considered myself both. But those days have gone and I feel I have to choose.

    I choose Rangers.

Me too. Events of the last few months - obvious hatred of SFA and other clubs towards Rangers - mean I can't bring myself to support Scotland any more. I won't be going near Hampden again unless Rangers are playing there.

  3. As someone at the game last night, I'm aware that the majority of fans there were angered by what appeard to be quite a large group, albiet a minority, of fans who chose to boo Ian Black. Many, including myself, spoke to some of the Association representatives to express our dismay at the actions of that minority. All of the reps we spoke to, who support a variety of clubs, were equally unhappy at the treatment given to Black. A statement was released today by ATAC to reinforce that point - a view shared by the vast majority of Scotland fans.

    Fans' body condemn Black treatment

    (UKPA) – 59 minutes ago

The Association of Tartan Army Clubs (ATAC) have condemned those Scotland fans who booed midfielder Ian Black during Wednesday's friendly match against Australia at Easter Road.

The 27-year-old Rangers player, who joined the Ibrox club in the summer after leaving Hearts, came on as a late substitute to make his debut to the vociferous displeasure of a section of the home support.

There had been controversy surrounding Black's call-up to the squad. Scotland manager Craig Levein had omitted team-mate Lee Wallace from the squad due to him now playing his football in the Irn-Bru Third Division.

Black was then targeted near the end of the game which the Scots won 3-1. It was unclear whether that was because of his Hearts and Rangers connections, or his general reputation as a hardy midfielder.

Speaking for ATAC, Jim Brown said: "One of the guiding principles of the Tartan Army is that when we come together club allegiances are put to the side as everyone throws their support behind the national team.

"It is therefore regrettable that a small section of the Scotland support chose to forget this and booed Ian when he took to the field and for the short period he was on the pitch.

"Given that this was Ian's full international debut, an occasion he has described as being the pinnacle of his career to date, these actions are especially disappointing."

After the match Black claimed the booing did not ruin the occasion.

"I'm absolutely delighted, it's probably the biggest and proudest moment of my career so far," he said.

I'm not particulalry expecting any positive comments on this but thought it was important that Rangers fans know that the vast majority of the Scotland support, including the offical supporters representatives, which still include many Bears, are just as pissed off about last night as folk are on here. I think it's also worth pointing out that Ian Black has made it clear that it was still an extremely proud moment for him, and one which he regards as a high point in his career. Hopefuly he'll achieve, and be recognised for, even greater achievements both with Rangers and with Scotland.

  4. Have emailed and tryed to phone the ticket office but i cant get through. I renewed a week last saturday. Just concerned it wont be activated till payment has been taken.

I got through this morning by using the 'purchase a match ticket' option on the phone. The operator was happy to speak about my season ticket, checked the details and confirmed that my card has been activated, even though the money has yet to come off my account. If you are still trying to get info, I suggest phoning and using the 'purchase a match ticket' option. I sent my renewal by post over two weeks ago, so they are clearly swamped.

  5. Really good to see this proactive instant rebuttal approach. We need to strike back firmly each time one of the SPL lie-mongers spouts crap. It should not just be Charles Green making the statements though - we need a small legal/PR team to be dealing with this stuff day in and day out. PS - when are we going to ban Spence, Gordon and co from Ibrox? We have nothing to lose by booting out the hostile 'journalists' - they need us more than we need them.

  6. They're not. We are demanding they agree not to investigate, and until they agree, we will not sign the membership agreement.

Hope you are right, but what status would any agreement from that bunch of liars have? I wouldn't trust them to follow through on any agreement.

  7. I must be missing something. I'm assuming that Doncaster is trying to get Green to agree to an inquiry as a condition of SPL support for our membership of the SFA. However,Doncaster and his SPL cronies can launch an investigation into the so-called 'dual contract' matter any time they like - they just need to get the vote fixed on the same basis that the vote was fixed to eject us from the SPL. They would no doubt fix the membership of the inquiry panel in order to get the outcome they want. So why are they bothering to try to get us to agree to their fraudulent inquiry at this stage? Surely they are not just trying to humiliate us for the sake of it? Those nice people wouldn't do that, would they?

  8. I don't even think it's the authorities per se. It's the fans of other clubs (have you ever had a look at, for example, HMFC kickback - they want us dead, no bones about it). The SPL have tried to engineer this to suit themselves and appease their fans. They're now resorting to what is essentially blackmail.

I can't wait until they come crashing down and I can climb on the high-horse they've just fallen off. Sporting integrity? They've made a mockery of the expression and have employed it as a justification for some of the worst and most spiteful actions against a club in scottish football history. Even if we come through this and in 3 years are back in the SPL, a divide has been driven straight through the heart of scottish football that will never be repaired.

Absolutely right. The idea of any kind of unity and mutual support in Scottish football died in 2012.

  9. Charles Green, Chief Executive of The Rangers Football Club said, "For the avoidance of doubt, the owners and board of the Club are not interested in selling a majority stake in Rangers to anyone.

"I have said many times we are happy to talk to potential investors who wish to join the consortium on the basis that no single investor will have a majority shareholding and they support our commitment to a share issue for fans.

"We have checked with all the official representatives of shareholders and none of them have had meetings with Brian Kennedy so we have no idea who the gentleman is he is referring to.

"He has not contacted any board members on this matter and we have never received any written offer from him.

"Many people had the opportunity to purchase the Club prior to our consortium but failed to do so, including Mr Kennedy. Talk of yet more bids is a distraction from the very real task of securing SFA membership and rebuilding the Club for the future.

"That is our sole focus and should be the priority for everyone with Rangers best interests at heart."

Sorry, already posted. Never noticed it.

Even if Kennedy made this offer, why would Green take it seriously? The club needs to move on now and focus on the immediate priorities - put the bidding saga behind us.

  10. I have been saying this not for weeks or months, but for years. We have been hopelessly negligent as a Club at responding to negative media articles and rumours. At numerous AGMs it was often mentioned. David Murray was urged to do something but invariably it was "ignore them, don't buy their papers, don't watch their programmes". Look what that has achieved!!

We supporters need to contact the Club in this regard. It is pointless moaning on here to each other if we don't pursue this objective with those in charge. Contact the RFFF, the Assembly, Jim Hannah and anyone who has any input at Ibrox. I've already contacted a number of people about. I spoke to Malcolm Murray about it after the last RFFF meeting at Ibrox but it needs more than one person to get action.

Fair enough - you are right about the need for collective action.

  11. Yes, Celtic have effectively created an image for themselves as the persecuted underdogs. That is the image that runs in the media. This is not because they dominate the media but because they are more effective at getting their narrative over. We've got to use similar weapons to them to combat this. I get the feeling that our pr dept, if we've got one, think that it's all about producing glossy brochures and golf umbrellas or whatever, but it isn't. Like you say, doing it right should not cost the earth.

You are right - it's not really about selling stuff (marketing) it's about shrewd clever PR. Celtic pose as the outsiders, the 'persecuted underdogs' just as you say, but, in fact they are the real 'establishment club', skilled at getting the media to buy into their narrative, and securing their placemen in positions of authority (Regan is only one of them). And when did Rangers ever have a former Cabinet Minister as Chairman?

  12. We've spent thousands upon thousands to Jack Irvine's Media House for PR over the years, however when you've got charlatans like Murray and Whyte running the club - then it's a case of continually "fighting fires".

If we can get someone to run the club properly, with no financial shenanigans, no dubious business practices, no gambling with future revenues - then the stories will dry up, and alas, no need to spend scarce resources on "over-priced" PR gurus.

We're in Div3 now, there's hopefully positive stories aplenty over the coming years as the club rises to the top once again.

Shouldn't need to spend megabucks on this, but you only need to look at the way the Parkhead mob cleverly coordinate their campaigns (against the referees, and against us) to see how important and effective this can be. Sadly, the campaigns against Rangers won't just stop because we are in the 3rd and the club is at last being run properly - we'll have to look after our own interests a bit more proactively.

  13. Having a good pr team is at least as important as having a good team on the pitch. The most important immediate thing is to get a licence. Once that is done, a pr team could work to show how Rangers had acted with great dignity against vindictiveness of other clubs. This is not a message that is getting through to neutrals at the moment. Like I said, let's get a licence, taking whatever sanctions we have to, and then fight it from there.

    Absolutely right.

  14. The London Delhi one was a good one :crabflute:

As for all the jokes against us, I'm thick skinned enough to rise above them. He who laughs last, laughs the longest :21:

It's not really about the jokes - we can give and take those. It's about the impact of the drip, drip, drip of propaganda against the club. The only way to deal with that is to have an organised, professional unit within Ibrox, ready to correct the falsehoods and take the required formal steps to deal with the troublemakers.

  15. Over the past few years we have been slow to react at official level to the very well organised, coordinated attacks on the club from our enemies. The new board/management must ensure that we have a legal and PR team of the highest calibre which will be proactive, not reactive, will adopt a policy of instant rebuttal, and will constantly promote the image and reputation of the club. This requires a degree of professionalism which has been missing for too long at Ibrox. It's time for those in the media and Scottish football's corridors of power to understand that any and every attack on Rangers will be answered with cool calm logic, and will not be allowed to become part of some bizarre 'accepted wisdom' which damages our club.

  16. Any views on the salaries issue? We have a real opportunity to get a new balance and set new, more realistic levels of payment. The wage inflation of the past few years must be a thing of the past, and the proportion of salaries within our overall costs must become significantly lower. To do this, though, we need to make the right start when/if we finally get a chance to make new signings. I would be happy to see Ian Black and some of the others mentioned over the past few days being signed, but their wages have to fit within a new salaries policy, I would say.
