  1. No it was just a genuine question. Why would a Celtic supporter come on here and ask that? There's no digs about rangers in it I was just interested because I thought the ltd co owned the club I'd never heard of the plc co till the other day. And was interested. Does my tits in when people reply with rubbish like that on here. Il be at the game tomorrow against Berwick like every other Saturday hope yous will be.

  2. LOL at some of the responses. Knew I'd get some of the 'he's one of them' replies. Green's already said no player will be getting over 7k basic wage per week and wages would be 33% of turnover. He's offered Alexander less than he was on, and I don't think money is the issue all Alexander wants is a slightly longer contract. He's played for the club for years came in when McG was injured and done really well for us, helping us get to a uefa cup final. Obviously more than good enough for us at the level we are at and affordable. Gave up tens of thousands of pounds when the club was in admin, and the majority of responses are we don't need him at this level/he's on too high a wage/not that good anyway/we can get someone cheaper that's just as good. Just think the guy deserves a bit more respect/loyalty from the fans when he has been to the club.

  3. Naismith told me at a press conference that my team and its history were dead, There was no need for that, and it was obvious when he spoke he knew he was wrong. That's what did it for me. Dishonest, disloyal, and treacherous. Loyalty is indeed a two way thing.

Completely agree disloyal and selfish for financial and footballing reasons doing what they did. But shows the fans are just as fickle when someone thats stayed with us through everything and has been nothing but a true pro for the club, are quite prepared to dump him.

  4. Just wondering why people hate the players that didn't sign over and left so much?

Is it simply because they didn't show the club loyalty in transferring over thus the club lost out on some money? So basically they did what they did for selfish footballing and financial reasons, looking after themselves.

Now on the thread on Neil Alexanders new contract the general consensus seems to be thanks for all you've done, but we can possibly get someone cheaper or better now so we shouldn't give him a new contract.

Does loyalty not work both ways why should the likes of Naismith etc have been 'loyal' and transferred over if the fans don't even want to give the players that did the same loyalty in return? Seems quite contradictory to me.

  5. Bet Alexander is wishing he did the same as lafferty, naismith etc. Left the club for nothing and get a big signing on fee somewhere else. Fans slate them for doing what they did, now people are wanting to dump a guy that stayed with us as soon as someone possibly better/cheaper has come along. Am glad CG is in charge of running the club, his budgets/projections look really good. To people that keep going on about us being in div 3, we're not going to be there for long and if you're comparing our costs to division 3 try compare our turnover. It's uncomparable. Our turnover is significantly higher than any other club in Scotland bar Celtic.

Pretty fickle to slate Naismith etc that left then say Alexander should be let go. Why should Alexander go.. because people think we could get someone cheaper who would be just as good, so it would be in the intrerest of the club financially? Was in Naismith's interest in football terms and financially to leave the way they did. So that's fair enough?

  6. http://scotslawthoug...-post-by-niall/

Found a funny article on Paul McConville's blog when I was trying to find Alexanders wage (he says he was on £8k pw). The person is talking about how he reckons CG will sell Rangers when he sees how poor the season ticket sales will be. And saying Rangers will need 30k a week at ibrox to break even which he can't see happening. Will more likely be 15-20k.

'Only an eternal optimist believes the average attendance will be 30,000. A more realistic figure is 15-20,000 and that will NOT be enough'.

    hahaahahhaha

  7. Loyalty or not we need to be prudent with finances from now on.

To be able to keep the turnover level high you need a good standard of player playing for the club ie to keep ticket sales high, revenue from cup run, marketing, sponsorship, tv etc. And for good players you have to pay a good wage. Greens set the wages to turnover ratio at 33%, a very low figure. Couldn't be much more prudent than that. Also this £10k figure is just a figure the sun have said, nobody knows what the real offer is. Much more likely to be around £7k with the potential to be £10k with bonuses, image rights etc., if it even is that high.

I have worries over the likes of Black, Sandaza, Shiels who are picking up a high wage but have done nothing of note for the club yet. Hopefully, they come good.

  8. I think a few people in this thread have bought into the media hype regarding English football and thinking every team is loaded paying ridiculous wages.

There's no hype, it's fact. There's a lot more money in the championship than any level of scottish football. The average premiership footballer gets £20-25k p/w, the average championship player gets £4-5k. These figures can doubled when you take into account bonuses, image rights etc.

Rangers have regularly lost out to players going to the championship in the past even when we were in the spl, the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Middlesborough, Cardiff etc.

You get what you pay for and Green has already said he wants to get a mix of players that are capable of playing at a high level along with the younger players. He has also already said the wages figure has reduced by about 75%, while turnover will not be near as much down as that. People are suggesting this is how rangers got into this position in the past, it certainly isn't. Green has a wages level that he has set relative to turnover and won't go over that. I think he has also said that £7k p/w is the top level being given to anyone just now. Plus Alexander is being offered less than he was on, and it doesn't even say he was unhappy with the financial terms, he just wants a minimum 2 year deal. If I was Alexander and I had a look at threads like this I'd say f'ck it, I'll go down to England get more money and play a higher level of football. Loyalty works both ways.

  9. Not in the championship in large.

The EPL is a different kettle of fish but he isn't going to be a first choice option for any of the teams in that division.

Would disagree with that, even when rangers were in the spl and paying big wages to some players, we still struggled to compete with some championship sides.

  10. According to this thread he's average, overrated, and not worth the wages. He's a Championship reject twice over, he's past it, played mostly for the reserves football at Rangers, and Boruc is better.

This is a guy who took us to a UEFA Cup Final. I find this thread to be an embarrasment and I'm fucking done with it.

Totally agree, some of the comments on here are embarassing. You actually have to laugh the comments you get on here. One good performance from Rangers and you get all the threads about how amazing we are and how good this player is and that player. Then one bad performance and suddenly we're terrible.

Same with Alexander there was a thread on here just the other day about him and nearly every comment was he deserved a long deal he's been loyal to the club and is a good keeper. Now because of one article in the sun people are saying he can gtf and stuff. Embarassing! It seems all he's asking for is a bit of security and a longer term deal, probably thinks he's got several years left at a good standard and would like to finish off playing at Rangers. And the 10k figure is probably made up, plus it says a possible 10k a week. More likely to be a lot less than this plus bonuses which could maybe bring it to near this figure.

  11. We did attack them fuck sake did you no go to the game or watch it?

We had Andy Little and Tempelton two attacking players. Then Sheils and McKay came on another 2 attacking players.

Still only one striker in the box to pick out with crosses. Final ball was poor, but there wasn't always a lot of options.

  12. And me.

25 shots I never saw them today thats for sure.

Was thinking the same, unless some of our 'crosses' went down as shots. Certainly don't think Ally should go but that was rubbish today. Only threat came down the left, probably because we've got a centre half and a striker down the right.

  13. 4-2-3-1

One up front in division 3 is no good, what's the point of having good wingers if you've only one person to cross to in the box surrounded by defenders. Having Black and Hutton playing together in these games is a total waste.

  14. Dear Ally

Please please please play two men up front in division 3, especially when we are playing against ten men! Don't know how many times today we beat our player out wide got a chance to cross and there was only McCulloch in the box to hit against 3 or 4 elgin defenders. Templeton and Mckay on the wing with two central midfield players (MacLeod plus one other, probably Hutton). And play Little through the middle with McCulloch. Also the likes of Sandaza and Naismith to pick from. The formation today was like we were playing a spl side and it stayed the same when they went down to ten men. Thought eventually Little was going to play up front with McCulloch but then he moved him back into midfield ffs.

On the plus side today Wallace and Templeton on the left look really good and McKay looked dangerous when he came on.

Ps don't know if anyone has noticed this but at set pieces we generally get everyone back or leave one up at most and we seem to overload the front post. Don't know how many times today they had a set piece and they had a player free at the back post despite us having about double the number of players in the box, luckily their crossing was pretty poor but I've noticed that in quite a few games.

  15. Were gonna go for him and then play him as a CB.

I do think that we should go for a CM from a Div 1 team such as (only as an example) Allan Walker of Raith Rovers loads of experience with them over a few years now captain. 27 in January so a good few years left in him. Has experience of the lower leagues and just to add the duty pointless line "he could do a job for us" for 2 years at least, if hes not good enough for the Top div then sorry lad thanks for the two years time to move on.

i know it's only an example, but allan walker is a celtic fan. Also why would that be a better signing than davidson. Davidson is younger, would come on a free, has played in a lower division with livingston and now in the top league with st johnstone. He's also a full international.

  16. Just remembered the game on wednesday when shiels was down injured and motherwell kept playing on for quite a while. Could see McCulloch was raging and looking for someone to foul to stop play which he eventually did. Thought he was going to half somebody  And for all the stick McCulloch gets at times, more so from opposing fans he's been brilliant this year up front and a true blue :21:

  17. Some of the young boys starting in the team look great talents. Hopefully, the support won't get on their backs too much if they put in the odd poor performance, has to be expected from young players. Also more so the wide players who are notoriously inconsistent and thrive on confidence. McKay has showed some great potential and young Aird has been brilliant in his first two games. Hopefully, when they are taking players on and the times it doesn't come off the crowd aren't too vocal against them. Great opportunity for these kids to develop as we work our way up.
