  1. All these arse lickers sucking up to Lennon and promoting him for the Celtic job may actually work in our favour as it's sure to cause further unrest and uncertainty at Bourneville Avenue. Not that that was the intention of McCoist and co but it might benefit us.

    Indeed.

Substitutes (& only one!) had only recently been  introduced back then, so a bit of versatility would have been helpful.

Also, the idea of having cover in every position hadn't been thought of, so folk would have just had to fit in!

Mind the days when teams only used about 14 or 15 players a season?

Aye and won championships and cups with 14 players who were getting kicked all over the park for the entire season. There was however very unscrupulous use of players by club directors and many were forced to take an unhealthy amount of cortisone injections, which in later years had a devastating effect on their health and mobility. It was a bit of a liberty at times.

Some jolly japester had a birthday cake made for her husband...the outside was beautifully finished, and decorated in white icing, with Rangers crests and red white and blue stars, then asked the baker to include a wee surprise...when cut into it revealed layers of green and white. Iain took it well.

Oh the craic, as poor Iain cut into it and realised he was about to become famous. The BBC have interviewed him, it has made the baker very popular too ( I bet it has) with her social media lighting up. She even said it wasn't the first time she had been asked to do it.

Meanwhile in a parallel universe, can you imagine if it had been done to some septic fan?

Mother " When wee Declan cut intae it, we saw the red, white and blue inside, ma mother had a heart attack and nearly drapped deid. Poor wee Declan started screaming and we had to take him to the infirmary tae get him tranquilised. Ah'm suing the bitch that made that for everything she's got. We phoned the Iraish Embassy, and they advised us to push it as far as we could, get compie aff everyone"

Exactly mate, nothing but a bunch of old hypocrites, just like their Cardinals, Bishops and Popes.

Had several games in the 'number 9' in season 68-69, then a few at 8 & 10 the next season, which he finished at full back.

That's interesting, but makes perfect sense as he had an amazing scoring record from full back, so could probably play up front with great aptitude. Top players back then had 2 sometimes 3 positions that they were more than capable of playing in, they weren't as systemised, as they grew up with the game and excelled in all areas of the park.

Was George McLean scapegoated, as well?

Ah - didn't know that about Hynd!

Forrest and McLean were transferred only a few weeks later, but every cloud has a silver lining, and Jardine was stepped up from the reserves into the 1st team around the same time, although I can't remember Sandy playing up front, if he did it must have been short term. Yes Hynds uncle was indeed Bill Shankly on his mother's side.

How can he come out of hiding, be best buddies with the Lurgan Lout, praise the lout, endorse him for the Celic job and take £800k from our club?

As it's been mention previously, why not praise the Warburton and Weir partnership.

    You let us down Ally.

Because he failed, His ego won't allow him to praise W&W.

Without trying to go off topic to your post, he won't be here 7-10 years.

The turnaround in fortunes isn't solely down to MW, nor DW. The club have already said that the ethos of the footballing side has been completely transformed from top to bottom. I'm more than confident if and when he does leave we won't be changing our approach to football.

If he leaves that legacy and footballing ethos to be carried on by others when he does go, that would be good enough for me. It is actually very encouraging and reassuring to hear that the club have said this, I didn't know that. It would be great to watch this style of football generation after generation no matter who the custodian taking us forward is.

  8. Lennon is a serial stalker, predator and intimidator of wimmen, a low life, the thug should be cast onto his fat belly like the rest of the serpent world. Anybody who is worth their salt would have no dealings with this character, less spend time socialising with him. He is a hater of all things Rangers, of all things Protestant and of all things that are wholesome and good.

  9. What encourages me about Warburton, amongst other things, is that he certainly isn't in football for the money, by his own admission he is VERY comfortable in that area of life, so I keep hoping that his plans are very much long term at Rangers, 7-10 years. He is the first Rangers manager for donkeys years that we really cannot afford to lose. Personally I do think he will be here long term, as I believe we are in the first steps of embarking on another legendary period in our clubs history, not only domestically, but in Europe as well. It's wonderful to be in on the journey, can't fucking wait tbh.

  10. Rangers and the SFA, Its not a new thing, 1987 Butcher, Woods and Roberts. 1994 Duncan Ferguson. Although it was the PFs that decided to prosecute, the SFA were more than happy and willing to help them in their investigations. This mob have been no friends of Rangers for many a year. A parcel of rogues.

The Mols/Khan tackle is around the 4minute mark. The keeper came out to cut off Rod Wallace and then has to keep going as his clearance wasn't good enough. That's why he ends up in the tackle, which he won, with Mols. Mols landing was indeed the cause of the injury.

Looking at this again after many years, it was actually a great tackle by Khan, there defo wasn't any attempt to injure Mols, was just one of those things.

IIRC top man Willoughby was crocked?

He was, and Hynd who could play centre half and centre forward stepped in up front. Alot of players in the old days could play in both these positions. Derek Johnstone at Rangers, the famous John Charles was another. I seen that John Terry tried it for Chelsea last week for the last 15 minutes, to his credit he didn't look totally out of place, but then again it was for only the last few minutes.

Anyone remember the guy that watched a game in every ground in the Scottish and English leagues back in maybe 82-83, i think he was the first to ever do this and his last ground was ours because he said he was saving the best till last, he was on the pitch at halftime.

I think it was Simon Inglis, who authored "The Football Grounds of Great Britain". A great book, I have it somewhere, need to dig it out and have another read. I have the recent " Ibrox --Temple of Dreams" looks good, but just not got round to reading it yet.

    He didn't injure Mols

He was in the immediate vicinity, I had to have someone to blame ha, was probably more frustrated at Mols at the time as it was a nothing ball he went for, think it was around the half way line or something. Anyway he was never the same player again, came back, was good, but he had lost that incredible ability to turn on a six pence, he could do it, but not as repeatedly as the knee just wasn't up to it.

I'm starting to think that when Ally the legend, the player scored all those goals for Rangers, he was scoring them for himself, not the club, it seems it's always been about Ally

Like every successes in life, there is always going to be a degree of Self involved, not knowing what motivates him or his thinking leaves me in a position where I can't judge him, but what we can judge him on is his actions, and his actions in relation to Rangers Football Club have, in recent years, left a great deal to be desired. As I said earlier, it actually saddens me, but we need to move on.

  16. Unbelievable comeback from Bayern. Nothing against Munich, but I still can't forgive that big lummox Oliver Khan for injuring Michael Mols, or them scoring, was it the equaliser in the last seconds of the first game at Ibrox, deflected off Albertz if my memory serves well. Gubbed them in 72 however, when technically we were playing the West German National team that would win that years Euros and be crowned World Champs only 2 years later in 1974.

  17. Been watching a lot of old games on YouTube and this question might seem a little bit Anoraky, but whatever happened to the old square Ibrox Goalposts after pitch redevelopment in the late 1980s, and the fashion turning to the European style posts with boxed nets? These posts stood at Ibrox for God only knows how many years, and it would be horrendous to think that they were just discarded with, when they should have been preserved at the time for any future museum or such like. If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Might be number 9 on that list which I think considering the names on there is a more than respectable place to be ...

However it will always be number 1 for me ... From the main stand to the marble staircase to the pitch side design and then the atmosphere before during and after the game ... Quite simply unbeatable :21:

Couldn't agree more, it's our spiritual home. I still get the same buzz as I did as an 8 year old at my first game. I still kiss and tap the top of the exit door on the way out, as if saying "farewell old friend, until we meet again, take care of yourself". In my heart there is no better sporting venue in the World, it is without peer. Even the name " Ibrox" is special, it's unique.

  19. McCoist as a player gave me some of my greatest memories of The Rangers, but he has absolutely done himself no favours with his mercenary approach. It just really saddens me. I take no joy or hatred from the whole affair, just much disappointment, as it really shouldn't have been like this.
