  2. Warbs: I Enjoy The Spotlight

MARK Warburton says he is confident he has assembled a group of players who can cope with pressure at Rangers.

The manager admits it is hard to recruit characters who can deal with the expectations and attention that playing for the Ibrox club brings but insists he has no doubts about any of his squad handling it.

Rangers dropped points at home to Ross County last weekend in the league and now face in form Morton in the Scottish Cup on Sunday and Warburton is telling his players to keep enjoying their time with the Gers.

Speaking to RangersTV Warbsy said: “We have to get players to come here who can deal with the pressure. They have to deal with a 50,000 crowd, a tremendous away support and the expectation and responsibility that comes with it.

“They have to be able to deal with it and not every player can but many can and that is part and parcel.

“Why do we have the bigger budget? Because you need players to come in and deal with the expectation.

“The focus is on them, the media spotlight is on them, walking about the streets of Glasgow it is on them and the key is enjoy it.

“You must recognise that you are privileged to be here, enjoy every moment that you spend at Rangers Football Club.

“There are a lot of young players here and it is the first time for many of them to be at a club this size and to deal with the spotlight and the focus.

“It doesn’t happen overnight, they have to understand it and appreciate it, it can be a shock at first, it can be a struggle at first and it can take time to adapt but there is no doubt that every person in the squad is more than good enough to deal with it.”

Warburton has been vocal about the intensity that comes with being Rangers manager but he maintains that despite an upped focus on him of late he isn’t feeling the pressure anymore than usual.

The Gers gaffer continued: “You are always under pressure as a Rangers manager or a Rangers player and if we draw a game of football it is nearly a disaster and if we lose a game of football it is a disaster.

“So we have to recognise that and it comes with territory of being at a club of this stature but the one thing that bothers me is for people to think that we don’t appreciate the demands of this club or don’t appreciate the backing we receive.

“You can read the papers, you can read the media and I flew home on Saturday after the game and had some great chats with some of the Rangers fans who were tremendous in their assessment and see the bigger picture.

“There is no doubt we fully appreciate everything that is associated with Rangers but what we have to do is win games of football.”

Your full of shite  what games did McCulloch get booe'd every touch of the ball?

Regarding Halliday .. bored reading endless threads about how he's shite and not Rangers class. That's not in doubt. It's been established. We don't need a new thread every day telling us how bad he is.

I'm looking at Warburton now. He signed him, trains him and continues to pick him. Does anyone expect Halliday to just go "no I'm not playing anymore because people think I'm shite" ... of course he annoys me rolling around the ground "injured" every 20 minutes like a wee blouse as he's too weak to be that mainstay in our midfield but you've got to ask questions of Warburton when it comes to Halliday. Personally I'd promote Thompson or something from the unders not because I think he's brilliant but more the fact I don't think he could be any worse.

Falkirk at home when we went 2 nil down big Lee got booed for his few few touches then the real fans started applauding him to drown it out. We drew 2-2.

  4. An old phrase but it's true these days....there are no Diddy teams now. They all know how to play. Look at the Maltese team beating West Ham last year. We wouldn't make it past 2 rounds with this squad in my opinion.

  5. I think some fans need to get real and not assume a negative story in the papers is always made up.  Yes we don't buy them and they have history with our club but it doesn't mean stories like this didn't happen. Wake up.

Also whether RK was with his wife or not, I don't think anyone walking out of their work and being given abuse would take it and told to get on with it. Not sure what's been said but if it's anything like the comments on the forum then I'm not surprised he was unhappy.

Keep the taig behaviour away from our club.

  6. Two people in the know from Glasgow supporters clubs and Ibrox said yesterday that Dave King met Frank and Ronald in January about lining them up in the summer to take over from MW. King is finished with MW but with no time for transfers and planning, he is waiting until the end of the season and hoping to grab 2nd before making the change.

This is also the reason why only loan moves were sanctioned with the money being saved for the new regime.

  7. So so sad. The last time I cried was at night after being to his game at Ibrox and was reading the program. Just hits what life is all about and last night is nothing compared to a terrible illness.

  8. When MW moves on in the future, should our next move to bring someone in who knows what it means to win for Rangers? PLG and MW haven't worked and I am disappointed by Weirs influence in this- especially the defence and passion.... didn't he have Lafferty by the throat away to Aberdeen because of the lack of effort on the park. Changed days.

Potential Ex Gers to replace MW:

    Walter

    Big Eck

    Gio

    Frank and Ronald De Boer

Barry Ferguson and Neil McCann/Novo as coaches

    Derek McInnes

    Bomber and Durrant as coach

    Terry Butcher

    Graeme Souness

Alex Ferguson  (unlikely but you never know)

    External candidates:

    Robbie Nielson

    Harry Redknapp

    Neil Warnock

    AVB

    Bob Bradley

    Alan Pardew

    Nigel Atkinson

    Mike Phelan
