Boab 73
By ROBERT GRIEVE Published: Today Kris Boyd has revealed a clear-the-air team meeting transformed Rangers' season. Walter Smith laid into his players after their defeat last month at Aberdeen, where Davie Weir and Kyle Lafferty had a bitter bust-up. The gaffer ordered a sit-down with his squad - since when Gers have won five games on the trot and stormed into a four-point lead in the SPL. Boyd said: "You always know yourself when you are not doing enough and it was pointed out after the Aberdeen game. We had a meeting to find out what was wrong. "We felt we weren't closing people down well enough, not getting at them, and giving them too much time on the ball to pick passes. "We've sorted that out and turned our season around. "But it's no good doing it for four or five weeks, we must sustain it for the season. "The manager asked what we thought and he needed to do that because we are the ones on the park. "The gaffer picks the team but it's us who cross the line and have to do the job, so we deserve to have an input. "That's good because on the park it is the 11 of us who have to get the result. "Since Aberdeen we've pressed teams better, created more chances and won every game. "We are getting in people's faces and winning the ball higher up the park and that leads to more chances." http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/ho...ers-season.html Sven used to like these team meetings also, good to see it worked more importantly. minstral 5,375
We felt we weren't closing people down well enough, not getting at them, and giving them too much time on the ball to pick passes. Thats what some of us have being saying for a long time on this board, and just amazed it has taken so long for the players and staff to notice it.
