The Brazilian has signed a four-year deal with Wolfsburg as he returns to the Bundesliga just a year after leaving Werder Bremen to play in Serie A.

A statement on Juventus' official website reads: "Juventus have perfected an agreement with VfL Wolfsburg for the permanent transfer of Diego for an income of €15.5 million [£12.7m] fully payable once the player signs his contract."

Juve's announcement was preceeded by the German club, who in the early hours of the morning confirmed that they had signed the player.

"The transfer of the Brazilian Diego to VfL Wolfsburg, is perfect," a statement read.

"Diego signed late on Thursday a four-year contract to June 30, 2014. The midfielder returns from Juventus to the Bundesliga, where he played from 2006 to 2009 with Werder Bremen."
