Mr Soprano 13,964
I think we will compete, especially with some more investment. We should be looking at targeting a winger, a back up left back and a striker and centre back depending on Goian/Boca staying or not. Striker wise someone like Murphy at Motherwell wouldn't cost an arm and a leg but is good cover up front and on the wings, or perhaps look down into Leagues 1/The Championship where there are some good strikers, Evans at Sheffield United wouldn't be too bad an option, but could cost a fair bit. Perhaps a loan deal from a Premier League team would be the best bet - Macheda at Manchester United or Afobe at Arsenal, could be decent up here. Would like to see Mackay-Stevens, but he would probably cost too much due to DU being arseholes when it comes to negotiations. Maybe have to look elsewhere - Cameron Stewart at Hull looks good, but may again cost too much. Again a loan may be the best option, Lalkovic at Chelsea or Miyiachi at Arsenal - depending on their need for him next season. For left back I would look again to the Championship/League1. Reda Johnson who we were apparently after last season has been playing well, and can cover centre half as well, plus has scored 9 league goals I think this season, which is a good return from defence. Perhaps being optimistic one of Manchester United's young prospects - Zeki Fryers- is a left back who is out of contract at the end of the season. He's highly rated by coaches down there but hasn't signed a new deal yet, perhaps compensation would be a stumbling block however.Good post however United would not let Evans go.
