WATBB 1,524
The glamour friendly between the two sides will not go ahead after security concerns were raised in the aftermath of Friday's terrorist attack on Paris, the French capitalBelgium's friendly clash with Spain has been cancelled after terror threats that follow the attacks in Paris on Friday evening.Over 120 people were killed in the atrocity in the French capital, while hundreds more were injured, with the perpetrators targeting a number of different locations, including the Stade de France, where Les Bleus and Germany were contesting an exhibition match. Three people died at the stadium after an explosion at an entrance, and the Belgian Football Association has now confirmed that a threat to their match with Spain has prompted its cancellation. A statement read: "In consultation with the relevant authorities and the Spanish national team, the Belgian FA has decided to cancel the meeting."At the very end of the evening, the Belgian FA has been contacted by the government that made the recommendation not to organise the match tomorrow night."This is due to the terror alert level being high and the current search for a suspicious person."We deeply regret that such a friendly match between two motivated teams is cancelled so late and we understand the disappointment of many supporters. Taking into account the exceptional circumstances, we can not however take any security risk for our players and fans." -Goal

K.A.I 36,183
So was there a terror threat that was made specifically to this match? the opening says there is but it doesn't really confirm it in the story.I think unless there's a specific, credible threat calling the game off let's them win in a sense but I can see why they don't want to take any chances, too. Difficult one but I don't think anyone can be criticised one way or the other for playing the game, or not.
Thewhitesettler 2,711
Another win for the terrorists. They don't even have to do anything now, because they've got everyone running scared. We must go about our daily business as usual, otherwise they win.We need to grow a pair, and stand and tell these terrorist bastards, "NO WE WON'T CHANGE OUR WAY OF LIFE, NOW FUCK OFF BACK TO YOUR CAVES" Instead of cancelling events, the authorities should put on more security, and start racial profiling again, as it's not 80 year old ladies that are gonna bomb us, is it?Fucking cowards! superally07 387
It's not like they are calling off just a Random game, it's only a friendly and Belgium clearly had a part to play in what happened in Paris. If they have the slightest suspicion then they should call it off. I'm totally against any idea of canceling the euros in France, but to postpone a friendly a few days after an attack when they haven't figured out who exactly done what, but know some of them are from Belgium... correct descion. cushynumber 25,178
Belgium is having a harsh light shone on it at the moment. 25% of the population of Brussels is Muslim with areas in the city known as Jihadi central.Blackburn tops it though at over 28% muslim, which is food for thought.
