You can, you're advocating for it right now.
You said you can accept failure
I didn’t
what is not clear?

I can deal with failing season after season if we're trying to improve, what I can't suffer is failing season after season standing still like you want.
I can’t. That’s clearly the difference

Again answer the question how do you propose raising funds to get new players? You can't force someone to bid for our shite, you're living in Champ Man world yourself.
It’s a balance. Decent youth set up (Patterson) decent scouting (Diamonde) and selling assets (Goldson, Souter, Lammers, Matondo for example)
there’s players that you can’t give away in a lucky bag so they need moved on at the end of their contract (Wright, Barisic, Lundsram) freeing up wages.
I’m not saying it’s easy btw, but it’s harder to win stuff when you’re flogging your best players.

So was Boumsong but we got a great offer and reinvested it.
We won the league (helicopter Sunday) and league cup that year with the likes of Klos, Ricksen, Moore, Novo, Prso in the squad.
Boumsong left and the following season we won fuck all, some re-investment that. -

Standing still? You can’t read properly mate. I haven’t once said our current squad is good enough. We have a few decent players we need to hang onto that others are happy to get rid of.

They’re not good enough to win now and you want to leave it a few seasons.
Are you saying Diamonde, Sterling, Butland (hopefully Cortes) are not our future core?

Probably more likely that people have common sense as to how we need to operate as a club. Also because the club repeatedly tell us.
Well they need to shut it when we fail season after season
Because not in over a decade have we sold our best players and reinvested that money in a winning team.
naivety

If that's the only offer we get for raising funds for the transfer kitty then of course I'd sell a £4m player for £10m 6 months later.
How do you propose we improve the team?
Not by selling our best prospects that’s for sure. 😂
Players that Clement see as our future, to work with and develop into players that will bring us success.
what you describe is selling our best assets and keeping our shite (because nobody will have them) ergo we have a bang average team that continues to play second fiddle to them cunts in the East
I’m dumbfounded that supporters think by selling our best players will give us money to buy even better players than what we just sold. It’s fucking bizarre and rarely has ever panned out that way.
it’s a dream scenario a big fat unicorn of a strategy.
Of course there is a balance to be struck because we need inward investment. But not when we only have three or four real assets. Let’s chat again when our team have won lots of stuff over a few seasons. But until then let’s just keep our best talent and put them to work

Are you on the wind up?
No.
would you be happy for Diamonde to go for £10m? -

Again, just making shite up - now with your 'unknown clobber' patter.
No one is saying to flog Diomande or Sterling.
As I've said before, if there's no one coming in with millions to spend, we need to sell to progress. Now, I don't know anyone who wants to sell Butland, but if we did and got in another 2 or 3 with the potential of Diomande and Sterling Cortes, then that makes perfect sense.
You would - if we got decent offers for players that are part of a rebuild to sell them for another rebuild.
bonkers -

I want shot of anyone for a good offer. That's how we should be operating...
Ok I don’t.
I’d be raging if Butland was sold
And you would be a wee bit upset but you would understand and trust our board that say £10 was spent wisely.
(because we have a great track record of that 😂) -

Nobody wants shot of Butland, I didn't want Bassey to go but when you get that offer you take it.
So you only want shot of Butland when a decent offer comes in?
Yes or no?

Don’t talk rubbish. Not one person has said, nor implied - ‘let’s get loads of money for Butland, or other players, and use it to buy bang average players.’ Any comments are about using the money for Clement to rebuild.
If, however, you’re happy with the squad we’ve got, and don’t think we need to move players on and get new ones in (unlike every successful club in the world), then your thoughts on selling players make perfect sense.
Of course we need shot of the majority of our players. My argument is against selling our best player(s) because we know what we have but don’t know what we are getting.
Fans wanting shot of Butland is bizarre.
But if you’re happy for him to go because £10m might get us some more unknown clobber then crack on.
We should be building a team around him, Diamonde, Sterling and hopefully Cortes. Not flogging them at the first go

No one is buying Scott Wright. You don't tend to get many offers for shite players.
Selling players when they are at their highest ceiling is what this club has to be doing now, this isn't the 90s anymore. We are a stepping stone for players to bigger things and if we can make significant money on transfer like Butland who was a free then we are going to take it.
The club would be negligent if it didn't. We don't have a Sheik funding the running of the club, if we want to be self sufficient we need to be selling players at the right time.
Not the fans fault we spent our European money and Bassey money on utter shite. You can't judge future sales and purchases based on that, that's daft.
I was using Wright as an example of a player we brought to the club rather than selling him.
You make my point - once we have found a decent player we should keep them because nobody can be trusted to gamble their profit.

Obviously, no one’s suggesting using money from the sale of Butland to buy players of that calibre. But yes, unless someone with loads of money to burn buys the club, selling players at their highest/a high value needs to be part of our strategy.
Yes they are suggesting that. Who did we get off the back of - Aribo, Bassey, Patterson?
nobody of very much significance that’s who, just a whole load of bang average players that did nothing but steal a wage and hang about like a bad smell
-
16 minutes ago, Roy Hobbs said:
The club will sell him because the money can be reinvested. That's the truth of the matter.
Every player will have a price and it'll be well within reach of bang average teams in the top 5 leagues.
Doesn’t mean you as a supporter accepts that or wants it to happen, does it?

Some people just can't grasp reality on here mate.
Don’t moan then when we have no consistency about our club., we bring in 5 players to find out 1 is decent and the rest are shite and we are stuck with them. EXACTLY what we have now- too many Scott Wright’s not enough Jack Butland’s.
-
10 minutes ago, Roy Hobbs said:
The alternative is we have a significantly reduced budget and we let players walk out the door at the end of their contract. A constant rebuild but without any money to finance it.
Butland is not even a year into a four year deal. He is quite clearly a very good keeper who will play his part in bringing success to our club.
Yet some supporters would sell him because the money could be reinvested. Maybe for a couple of Scott Wright’s and a Matondo?
sorry, but better sticking than twisting

The only way we'll improve the squad is by selling our best players and reinvesting the profits. It's not the 90s anymore.
Wait, improve the squad by selling our best players?
that’s a strange strategy 😂
then don’t moan when we are in a constant “rebuild” or we buy 5 players to find one decent one.

Any money on offer for Butland, Tav and Goldson has to be taken.
One I’d be concerned about is Sterling, his performances won’t have gone unoticed.
Why would you consider selling Butland?
it’s a mentality with some of our supporters- regarding selling our best players for cash instead of wanting to keep them for success - that is utterly bizarre
needs binned it’s a shite attitude brought on by too many clowns playing Football Manager

Take throw ins, corners, penalties and free kicks for fun over there

If they are equal after a 3-1 victory on the last day of the season then your 2-0 victory instead would lose you the league as you would be a goal short, despite scoring a belter of a bicycle kick.
You’re moving the goals. That’s a different scenario
-
1 minute ago, Jamie0202 said:
Nah if goal difference is equal it goes to goals scored. It has been like that for as long as I can remember.
And if goals scored are equal?
-
1 minute ago, Jamie0202 said:
No. Assuming they're the only goals in the game 3-1 is better than 2-0 if it's in the league.
It’s not- it’s still +2 and if it comes down to goal difference goals against count.
