Ally Wants Happy Ending

From Lindsay Herron in Manchester

ALLY McCOIST insists Rangers are ready to claim European glory at the City of Manchester Stadium tomorrow night.

Ally McCoist applaudes fans at the end of the matchThe assistant boss feels there is a real determination about the squad to go out and claim the prize.

He said: "To take the Cup back would be wonderful and that's why we are here.

"It's been a wonderful journey but there is no use going on a wonderful journey if there is no happy ending.

"I don't think Manchester will know what's hit it. Everybody I have spoken to is coming down and it's going to be a wonderful occasion.

"We just want to do it for all of these fans."

Since arriving in the Cheshire area on Monday afternoon, there has been a buoyant mood about the squad.

The team flew down from Glasgow on a private charter and then transferred to their luxury hotel headquarters as the sun split the skies.

It has been the ideal spot to prepare for the massive match with Zenit St Petersburg and now the team is in the final throes of getting ready to go for glory.

He added: "There is a real mood of excitement about the players. The surroundings have been excellent and ideal for our preparation.

"We used the hotel before when we were with Scotland and we had no hesitation in coming back.

"We took the players out for a meal last night and they will rest most of today and then we will have a good training session at the City of Manchester Stadium tonight."
