  1. Anyone else noticed Pompey game is same day as Scotland V Norway??

Norway v Scotland is on the Wednesday, the 12th August. Pompey's on the 8th August. So no clash, though obviously players selected for Scotland will probably have to meet up with the national team before the international match - though maybe that's the Sunday?

  2. The media reaction is undoubtedly heavily tainted by the fact he's not Chesney. The ginger whinger was not liked by the fourth estate one little bit, so they were always going to offer a warm welcome. I agree, he's a 'nice guy' and when it goes wrong, that niceness will see him buckle under the pressure, and I think they know that, and I have a sneeking suspicion that Wattie knows that.

I'd expect the honeymoon to last a few months though, but poor european results and a loss to us at Ibrox would see the noose tighten - should be fun to watch.

  3. anothr Mowbray thread doh

fuck them, their dirty f*nian mhick bastards We are Rangers concentrate us and not them we are champions ffs

The print media's reaction to Mowbray's unveiling is facinating. The headlines seem to be that he will play the 'Celtic Way', which is being aluded to as similar to the style in which Barca won the Champions league, albeit with McGeady playing the Messi role. More interesting is that unlike the previous incumbent, he will forge great relationships with the fans and media alike. I like Mowbray, he seems like a nice guy, but you do get a feeling that if things don't go well, he'll be eaten up and spat out by those lovely people who make a living from the printed word. Results will dictate everything, particularly champions league qualification, and head to heads with Uncle Waldo, who is a bit long in the tooth to care what either the fans or the media think (not unlike Strachan, or indeed Sir Alex). If things don't go his way, then all the understanding and mutual respect towards Tony will quickly evaporate to be replaced with frustration and animosity in the form of a good kicking by those who at the moment are heralding and praising his 'qualities'. Interesting times in the East End.

Yer post is pish and unwanted , further drivel about the unwashed and thier jug eared clown

Wow, what a pair of well thought out and reasoned responses - I guess we only have the right to talk about what you want to talk about.

    :praise:

  4. Really surprised at the results of this poll.

    Money's not everything people!!!

Pose the same question another way, if you had to cut of your legs and have your baw sack removed to remain a Rangers fan, the poll results would probably be the same. It's just people with a grasp of reality (and answering with a bit of honesty) versus those who want to sound like the bestest baddest fan in the world.

None of us are ever going to get offered 10 pounds, let alone ten million to change our opinion.

So for the record, I wouldn't take the money, I'd give away my house and they can have my legs and all my vital organs cause I'm more of a fan that the rest of you :craphead:

  5. If we win it, the team will get back to Glasgow probably two to three hours after the game. So there won't be any difficulty in having the stands open to greet the team. The bus comes back to the stadium anyway and the polis would prefer folk inside a stand than crowding down Edminston Drive and PRW.

  6. Anyone else sit in the Govan Front.

Not saying Laffs didn't over react, but from my angle in GF3 Mulgrew did go forward and nod into Kyle - though with no force. And forward motion into a players face is a red card. The reaction was shameful though.

Am I alone in seeing the incident that way. Would welcome any views from folk at the game who also sit in the Govan Front.

  7. It was a few lads that sit beside me in the Govan Front that contacted the police. Took them about four goes, and a conversation with a senior officer, but to their credit the police did eventually respond. Can't say the Police were going to do anything at first, but the lads kept their head, made very reasonable points to the officers and finally achieved the right response. Shows what can be done if you approach it in a way that doesn't leave the cops an option other than to react to a breach in the law.

Might be good to see the picture above making it's way to Strathclydes finest.

  8. we can all see that the current side falls well below what we would all dream of going to watch every week. but i have just watched a side who apparently play the greatest brand of 'total football' in Britain be dismantled by simply a hungrier side with a dash of top quality players.

    That's a great line :craphead:

Man Utd's bench last night was Berbatov, Scholes, Giggs, Tevez and a few others that would probably all command multi billion transfer fees. On the pitch, they have one of the most complete sides I've seen. Retail value I would guess in the high hundreds of millions. If that's a dash, then I hope your behind the bar next time I order 'a dash' of decent 16 year old Malt :pipe:

  9. As we got off the ferries at Larne all the buses were waiting to pick us up (because no Scottish companies would take their buses to Dublin). Every bus, as I recall, was a big white Ulsterbus with a RAF type roundel on the back. No probs getting there, but the way back was legendary. Driver told us to pull up the seats of the bus and to prop them against the backs of the seats, lie on the floor and put our jackets over our heads. Think we last half a dozen windows, and even in wee villages folk were lobbing anything they could - we lost a window to o turnip!

Got to Newry and the squaddies that came on the bus were pishing themselves. Wandered up the bus to make sure folk were OK, and then let us know that half of Newry was out on the streets waiting for the buses to come through.

    Can laugh now!

  10. Has this been re-issued as a special fourth anniversary edition for the UK?

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/redfriday.asp

    :)

Now now, you'll upset the 'patriots' with that - and no doubt the name calling will begin for you too ;)

Shame on you. It's clearly true because uniformed soldiers often wander through commercial airports carrying HF radios with the correct frequencies for soldiers whose names or locations they don't know. Laugh, I nearly pished myself with the gung ho bravado of the internet sodjers on here. Feck me, it's hard enough getting comms to work in Afghanistan let alone in the departure lounge at Prestwick :craphead:

    Hilarious

PS I have some magic beans if anyone wants to buy them.

  11. It's the reward for getting to the final, simple as that.

Think the plan to 'drip feed' is fair enough, and to be honest, a split crowd makes for a far better atmosphere - and if folk are moaning about not gettting to Hampden, then there were plenty spare seats on Saturday, and even more at Ibrox the round before (but it's only Falkirk fans that are glory hunters  ).

When we can't sell out Ibrox for a quarter final, you have to doubt that we 'deserve' forty thousand tickets.

Get it full, crank up a bit of atmosphere, and for fecks sake make it better than last year!

  12. I can understand folk being pissed off that two of our players were booed at Hampden - those that booed them are sad pathetic tossers. Sadly, rather than Rangers fans being better, we decided to be the same. So if anyone is trying to grasp the moral high ground, then to be honest, they haven't got a clue.

Those booing on Wednesday and singing today were a disgrace to country and club.

    Simple as that.

  13. nae picture of him celebrating that freekick against the mhanky mob in the cup final or lift the cup on helicopter sunday

And deny the mob their moment, course not.

It's what they live for, and certainly not supporting a loyal servant that made a, admittedly stupid, mistake. You have to remember, the folk on here have never done that, never took a drink, never said or done anything they've regretted. They're perfect. If only we could be so great.

BF made an arse of himself, and embarrassed the club and country.

    He is being punished.

And as a Protestant, I believe that to forgive is divine. Obviously others have a more liberal (or non existant) understanding of our faith - oh I forgot, their just 'traditionally Protestant' not encumbered with the responsibility to act and behave as Protestants.

What the fuck has this got to do with being Protestant?

Your post reeks of someone who can't actually defend what our captain and goalie have done, so you feel the need to bring it back to religion.

I don't think he was defending. I think his dig was that most/some on here claim to be Protestants and one of the Protestants ways is to forgive.

    Thanks
