  1. I was talking to one of his international team mates today.

    From the horses mouth:

Would be a fantastic signing for Rangers

    Good box to box

    Takes all their free kicks

Thought he was far more likely to go to the Premiership but Craig Moore had been giving him the hard sell, so it might not be out of the question.

Did say, that as players they are the last to know about transfers but he expected both clubs (OF) to buy a few players in the next couple of weeks.

But said, Bresciano would be a great signing and I think he was being genuine about it.

  2. Birmingham will need some grafters to get out the Championship.

McCulloch could be a good signing for them, proven and liked by McLeish - and better for their purpose than Baldy. Maybe Eck also likes Charlie Adam from his days here, and big Darch would be a decent impact player for them. Would package those three, chuck in a couple of million and Faddy's yer daddy.

Anyway, I'm away back to the Crysyal Meth to await the next episode in the transfer window to end transfer windows :D

  3. McGregor's missus was chatting to a friend of mine today. Said to her that there had been no contact from Newcastle and that they didn't want to, or expect to leave Glasgow. Obviously if someone waves massive cash in their face that could change things but she says there was no desire for them to move. He just wants to get fully fit and get the team playing well again.

Also spoke to a collegue whose doing work with Thommo's Dad down in the borders and he was saying that the players are right behind Wattie and really hurting after Kaunas.

And no, I don't work at Ross hall :D

  4. Transfer deadline day you might get a medical done late at night at Ross Hall. With three weeks until the window closes a player would attend astandard medical during the day when all senior and relevent staff (MRI, X Ray etc.) are on duty. It seems very unlikely that a mediacal would be conducted at night - so for example Cuellar is having a medical tomorrow, not tonight. Why would that be - perhaps because people don't go for medicals in the middle of the night!

Sure it was posted with best intentions, but can't seee it to be honest.

    Loovens will be first anyway.

  5. Ehh, read the interview again. Journalists with no story ask questions to get a story.

    Journo: Walter, is Cuellar off.

WS. No, and we have recieved no offers for him at all.

    Journo: Is he for sale

WS: He forms a key part of our team and we see him as central to our bid for the title.

Journo: But what if you recieved an unbelievable bid, surely you would have to consider that.

WS: Of course, if we recieved an unbelievable bid the club would have to consider it, especially as we are now out of Europe.

Story: Carlos to be sold as Premiership clubs circle.

All players are for sale, not all are sold. You would have to expect that any bid would have to hit around £10 million and if they came, then the club would have to consider them. Below that, and the value of holding the player outweighs the sale as you can't get cover before January.

Was very noticeable today that Broadfoot moved to the left to cover Cuellars position - if Cuellar was off, and Bougherra was his replacement, surely that wouldn't have happened. As clear an indication that he isn't a replacement for Carlos as you could possibly get!

  6. Though the straits be broad or narrow, it's follow we will. Just a line in a song, or is it a statement of intent.

Being a Rangers supporter isn't a casual choice in my opinion, to enjoy when the times are good and to casually toss aside when the going gets tough. It's something passed from generation to generation. In some ways a birthright, and no question at times a seemingly massive weight to carry. But you know what, I could never walk away from the club in bad times. It would seem like a massive betrayal to my father and my grandfather. That's just me of course, and others will have a different perspective.

It's interesting, as a casual user of this site, that many who shout loudest and do the greatest sabre rattling, are the first people to head for the hills. I guess it's one of the reasons I'm always suspicious of folk who crow when were winning. They're the guys at your work whho are suddenly the big bears before a UEFA cup final, even though you had no idea they were teddies. But when push comes to shove, that's what it's about for them. A chance to try to be the big man, a chance to feel superior when the going is good. But they won't take the bullets when things aren't so good. Oh no, then they just moan and bitch about the club. "A pure wouldnae watch that shit" is their cry- but wait a minute were they not the one that paid £500 quid for a ticket to Manachester?

It's a bit like watching folk leave ten minutes to go. Then the following week bitch about how the players don't give their all. I just don't get it. But then again, neither do they!

Giving up your ST isn't walking away from the club.

    I'd never do that.

I can't, it really is an impossible scenario but to take away funds for a certain duration for self perseverance is justified in my opinion.

    Fantastic post nonetheless

    Except it's "and narrow" :P

could've been worse, I could have written 'streets' ;)

  8. Clearly nobody knows the detail of Weir and Dailly's contract extensions. So who knows, maybe they were subject to progression in Europe. Would make sense given that they would only really be required to support a longer run in Europe.

One thing that is clear. If the club panic (in the way a lot of people on here seem to be doing) then we will be in the shit. But if they make an adjustment based on the disaster of Tuesday night and clear out some of the dead wood, and bring in a couple of players to improve the midfield, then I don't see why we are suddenly so behind a celtic team that we were better than last season - and we were bar the pressure of competing on four fronts.

I firmly believe that we will act to ensure that we not only compete for the title, but that we will have it in the bag before the split. And no, I'm not on the drink - but I will be at the beginning of May!

  9. If it was true someone at Ibrox would have put their name to it

Cuellar has, I think three times now, said he's not moving.

    That he's happy here.

That he has no intention of moving.

Like everyone I am nervous that he will be sold but lets not ignore the fact that he has said personally, and in the media, that he's staying put.

  10. We will carry this result for five years as well. All the good work over the last three years and getting ourselves up the ranking undone by this rubbish.

That's certainly true. And I'm not suggesting tonight was in any way a good result. It was obviously a disaster, and an embarassment. That much doesn't really need said. What I am suggesting is that we are in such a state of decline, and that includes the end of last season, that something of this magnitude is maybe the only thing that will bring about major change. As a ST holder I don't know I can handle another year of deadly dull performances and negativity.

So lets hope that from here the only way is up (though without BF I thnk we have another few months of suffering ahead unless we buy a replacement or adequate cover).

  11. How can going out of Europe and losing £10 million be good for any club?

    Jesus christ!

Along with everyone on here I laughed my arse off when they went out to Arrtmedia.

I haven't smiled very much since. A season to build, and a season to shed the makeweights might be exactely what we need right now.

If you think we are playing good football then you obviously don't watch many games. Change is needed. It's desperatly needed. And change at Ibrox is only likely when there is immense pressure. Disagree if you want, it's all about opinions. But I hope that this sees us make major changes and a move away from some of the drivel that we have had to watch over the last six to eight months.

  12. We didn't lose tonight to a fluke, we didn't lose to a team that was worse than ours. We were outplayed both home and away by a team from the Lithuanian League.

It's difficult to accept, but sadly it's true.

So had we struggled past them tonight, where would we be. Trying to struggle past the Danes next week, and then a struggle against teams in the UEFA or Champions League. We would have stuck with the same style of play, and in my mind we would have been an embarrassment. The impact of that would have been to also have stuck with that standard of play in the SPL, which is something that I don't think I could have handled. In the end I wouldn't see us sustaining a decent challenge for the title - because whether we like to admit it or not, we are currently shambolic.

So does going out tonight have a disasterous impact, or is it the catalyst for real change.

Clearly alarm bells must be sounding at Ibrox. The result obviously has an impact on the squad, and will surely lead to transfer activity. But what if it was used as a force of change that was positive. Is that impossible? If the club use this as a means to shed players why does it have to be Cuellar. Why not cut wages and trim the squad but retain the better (contracted) players. Keep Carlos but sell on McCulloch, Weir and Dailly - yes they signed contacts recently but doesn't mean thay can't be sold - as they were obviously kept with a view that we would have more games. Adam, Whittaker and Hemdani could go. Certainly Darchville and Cousin should leave to free up wages. In a fantasy world Miller would also follow - but I think that's taking the optimism too far!

If we don't panic then I can see positives - don't get me wrong the income would have been good, we all wanted to stay in Europe - but maybe this forces us to make changes, to use younger players, too look to a better style of football. To actually consider buying someone, anyone, that could deputise for BF and maybe even support him when he's back.

As dark a time as it is, maybe we will look back in May and realise this was the best thing that could have happened to our (currently) shambolic set up.

    Christ I hope so!

  13. But they haven't done away allocations yet...

It came out my account on the 1st August. But haven't had anything from the club to say I've been allocated anything specific, but at that price I guess I have to assume it's for Parkhead.

    Feckin expensive though!

  14. We have up to four months without BF. As was ably demonstrated on Wednesday we have a static midfield with little movement and no change of pace. So while it would be nice to think that he is a future partner for Carlos, in the meantime, we have to see if he can inject some creativity in the middle of the park.

  15. We've just played in our first European final for thirty years.

We've repaired most of the damage done by Le Guen

We won two trophies last season

We have a solid squad with a lot of home grown talent

We have one of the most exciting prospects in Scottish Football about to break into the first team.

......but we cannae sing about being up to our knees in fenian blood and we've signed one player you don't like.

And that makes you too embarrassed to wear your colours.

  16. You have disgraced this club. You have signied a shocking, micky bastard.

    Pack your bags and leave.

Do the right thing and don't go back.

Seriously, if you can't support the players or management and your concerned because a new signing is a 'micky bastard' then it's probably best to go somewhere else.

Think the rest of us are happy to support our club.

  17. Move with the time, yes we should...forget and give up our beliefs and traditions that made Glasgow Rangers Football Club what it is today...no thanks!

Good traditions? Like sporting endeavour, dignity, respect, a will to win and a club forever working to take us forward, to be better in every way we can. Modern day examples of progressive change would be the rebuilding of Ibrox, the signing of Super Mo and the foundations created for our future in Auchenhowie.

Rangers have always enjoyed widespread support and if anyone is really under the impression that we are more divided now than in the 'auld days' - I'd refer them to the period in the late seventies/early eighties before the Holmes, Souness and Murray era.

Back then bears fought amongst themselves in Ibrox. Back then we regularly had low crowds - ave. att. of around 18,000 in 82/83. Almost unimaginable now, but, hey, it was the good old days  Back then you could get away with songs of hate that are no longer acceptable. Back then you could take a bevvy into the ground - then lob it at your fellow bears when you lost it about something.

I'm proud of the changes for the betterment of The Rangers, proud of the modern era success and delighted that divisions amongst the support currently get expressed on internet forums rather than battering someone over the head with a Lanliq bottle.

    Totally agree :rangers:

  18. Is it my imagination, but did a Utd player not throw a punch at Whittaker in the second half - in front of the Govan around the halfway line, tussling over a ball gone out for throw. Was at the game so don't know if it was on TV or if I'm imagining it happened???

  19. Good to see a lot less desert their seats with ten minutes to go - but for the life of me I don't know how any true bear could have gone before the end tonight. I just look at some folk ambling out with four minutes injury time (or before) as if they didn't care and wonder why the feck they bother.

Sorry, just had to get that out.

One down and six to go! C'mon Rangers!!!!!
