  1. I'd like to point out I am not a relative of Kirk Broadfoot :D

I do think he gets a hard time on here, and from other supporters. He's a decent tackler, provides height in the box, and though his overlapping runs are not Huttonesque, he does offer a counter attacking option. In my view, had Broadfoot played we probably wouldn't have conceded one, and possible two of the goals given away today.

As I've said in previous posts, he's a player developing week in, and week out, and I for one want him back in for Thursday.

Am I alone in thinking he should be back in the team

We missed Kirk as much as i miss a boil on ma arse

    Nice image :3375:

Watched the game again, and there's no doubt we missed his height in the box and his tackling. Whittaker just doesn't have the defensive qualities that Broadfoot brings to the team, and to be honest, doesn't have the offensive qualities either.

First to admit that Kirk had a mare on Thursday, but he's a young guy learning his trade at a much higher level, and he seems to be able to learn as he goes along - much more that Whittaker so far.

  3. Anyone else on the credit card scheme? It said they were posting tickets for the Partick game next week yesterday so i thought they'd have arrived today but they haven't. Not sure what to think considering not everything arrives in the mail the day after its sent but tickets normally did i thought. So has anyone recieved them cause there is obviously the chance i just didn't get them but i've never failed to get a cup ticket yet so seems slightly odd. :craphead:

Got the e-mail, haven't recieved the ticket yet - but won't start sweating until Thursday (tu)

  4. they struggled to beat a bolton reserve team... at home.

    think of it like that.

They BEAT a Bolton reserve side.

Tells me nothing about how they play or whether they will or wont be tough opponents.

They STRUGGLED to BEAT a bolton reserve side.

    Read.

We failed to beat Partick, a team then 4th from bottom of the first division, at home. Then we beat Celtic a couple of weeks later. What do we read into that?

It tells me that we should not think any game is a cut and dried win.

And the same goes for Lyon.

Both legs will be tight, and my only fear is overconfidence - but hopefully Wattie has that sorted.

He should maybe just walk into the dressing room with a Jags top - that might not be a bad message for the players before the game!

  5. ??? That won't make a difference. We must play 19 at home and 19 away. We have 7 away games out of 9 for sure. Likely to be Dundee United and Motherwell at home.

    Don't think that's correct.

If Hearts make the top six we have to play them at home, as well as Utd and Motherwell. That's the weird thing about the split - you can end up playing 20/18 if one of the teams expected to be in the top 6 finishes in the bottom six. Aberdeen 'should' have been top six, but as they wouldn't be, I think it messes it up.

Could be talking utter bollox, but a couple of seasons back Aberdeen played 18/20 in the league.

  6. Apologies, on such a great day, but can I have a tiny moan.

Lets give Kirk the credit he deserves!

Lot of threads on here slagging Faden A'lready, talking about how p!sh the traiterous wee knuckle dragger is, and especially how p!sh he is against us. He's p!sh against us because first Hutton, and now Broadfoot have the talent to make him look like the last guy picked in the playground. Make no mistake the wee mhank can play, and he rates an international position. So how come he was shite today. Step forward Mr Broadfoot

Kirk Broadfoot develops week in and week out. He's physical, defends well, is developing the ability to overlap, good in the air and becomes a better tackler with every match. He stuck Faden in his back pocket today, and for all we know the wee judas is probably still there, stuck in a laundry basket at the stadium.

The big man has proved many wrong, so lets focus on that rather than on how p!sh they were :rangers:

  7. I chose Scotland in the poll, mostly because I knew most would pick the club first.

I follow both with the same passion and desire. Either winning a major trophy would give me unbelievable joy. It's basically a question that equates to which do you prefer living or breathing. One is part of the other and both are equally precious. Though it's perhaps a sign of peoples thought processes that they choose one over the other.

One thing some of the people on here seem to fail to realise, or perhaps they just know more about 'Ulsta' than the Rangers. Our club was founded by men that were proud to represent their country. Men who wore both the royal blue of Rangers and the navy blue of Scotland. The McNeil brothers, Peter Campbell and Tom Vallance were all capped for their country, and were clearly both proud to be Bears and Scots - something that a lot of people on here seem to think of as an anti Rangers thing - but that's perhaps more a reflection on their lack of knowledge than anything else.

  8. If we win our games v Celtic we can field the players kids for the last three league games - we could also (more realistically) give fringe, youth and transfer listed players a run. The only way to reduce meaningful games is to win everything as it presents itself.

  9. A Sunday?

There'll be rugby on the Friday night too, so expect a long ball fest with McCulloch up front because "football can't be played on that surface"....

Yup, Glasgow play Edinburgh on the Friday night, so pitch should be a mess for the game (Thistle might try to bribe Glasgow to move the game to Old Anniesland or Hughenden (if it's not already being redeveloped) but it is an issue if they have played the rugby two days before.

  10. Game postponed due to Fir Park being a sink hole. Reckon this is good news for us, as it probably pushes that game to a midweek, and keeps them with a bit of a fixture pile up too (obviously they don't have Europe to contend with, or the League Cup final or ...) and they seem to be more likely to drop points midweek :)

I believe the song remains for the forseeable...'were top of the league and your no!'

  11. After Rangers made the last 8 of the Uefa Cup, Major clubs around Europe (Especially in England) will start looking at the Rangers team as they try to sign decent players.

The success of Alan Hutton has not gone unnoticed and in recent weeks the likes of Ferguson and Cuellar have been linked with moves down south (Keegen wants both). Cousin has already alerted the Premiership (Fulham) and Allan McGregors performance tonight will be watched by many top clubs over the next few days. I'm sure there are a few others that will be on the radar as well.

No matter who we draw in last 8, I fully expect Ibrox to be full of Scouts looking at our players.

At Rangers, can we have Euro Success and hold on to our star players?

Or will we be rebuilding again in the Summer?

That is up to Martin Bain.

    Sadly.

So do you credit Martin Bain with getting Davis and Dailly in during the window - two players that have been outstanding.

  12. Twelve months ago there was thread after thread saying we needed to get a top quality goalkeeper because McGregor was weak. Before that we had threads saying we needed a top quality right back because Hutton was weak. Give Broadfoot a chance to learn, get games under his belt, and we might find we actually have a top quality right back who's currently playing for us.

Still in four competitions and folk want to ditch players before they get a genuine chance to improve - amazing

  13. It's funny how people are so desperate to sing about the UVF and our Britishness but too afraid to acknowledge that the majority of our founders were or went on to be Scottish International football players. Our heritage and our roots are as THE Scottish Club.

The majority of the 'Ulster' celebration is knee jerk reaction to the manks roots. Funny thing is it plays into their hands because they will always be delighted to see us singing about the UVF, Fing the Pope and going on about gallows. Why, because it brings us down to their depths and they're suddenly on an even footing with their pro IRA republican pish. To them, it's a feckin wet dream come true. They get the moral high ground because of their roots, we get tarred as reactionary bigots.

Want to see the tims squirm.

Old Firm game. Ibrox a sea of saltires and lion rampants, the club celebrating it's Scottish founders, celebrating the McNeil brothers, Peter Campbell and Tom Vallance et al. We would look and be simply the best. They would look like the toe-rag's they are, and always have been. Sadly, some amongst us are too ashamed to acknowledge our actual founders and our actual history and heritage, and prefer to feed of the good name of the club.

  14. The "Girvan Lighthouse" - I always remember him swinging on the Hampden crossbar as a cross ball fell in at the back post v Aberdeen - not sure of the date of the cup final. He was 6 foot 12 inches tall ;) and famous for his massive kickouts - a classic being his clearance to Bud Johnston in the 1972 ECWC final, for wee Bud to run through and score the 3rd, and winning, goal.

remember the era, he was 6ft 4" tall . total crap keeper , will never understand how he played for rangers as long as he did. lost us league's but saying that it was'nt just him.

not the best memories when the girvan shitehouse comes to mind.

    Utter pish

Peter was a very decent keeper (not suggesting he was unbeatbale, but neither would he) who played a major part in two treble winning teams (76 and 78). To say he lost us leagues is utter nonsense and shows you don't know too much about that era.
